Happy Sunday all! Its beautifully sunny out, deceptively cold. Not supposed to get above freezing. Still, dog is romping outside, cats are sunbathing indoors, and I've finished laundry for the week.

I think my priest is watching too much American Idol. While singing hymns today, he was very enthusiastic and gesticulating. We sang hymns I'm not too familiar with, so I was entertained.

Shmu....I read your announcement and you are going to be so so busy in the upcoming weeks--but a great kind of busy! So much positive, good stuff for you to prepare for. We'll miss you and look forward to your return with lots of updates.

whgrn...what creative parenting! So glad to see that you're feeling better and that you've shared your issues with your BFF--I'm sure it has helped a lot. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow....

disney54us...I really like Hope Liberty, especially in these times we're in. What a great way for the little darling to start her life, something that she'll be reminded of everytime she signs her name (whenver she starts writing in the far off future). If she ever feels a little iffy about her name, you can always shorten it to HoLi, a way to diguise it for a little while in that stage. But goodness, she just got here! Just love and kiss her. A baby is so wonderful. Did you ever figure out the avatar issue? I wish I could help. I just uploaded a new photo on m Friendster account, and cannot figure out a way to turn it 90*, so I'm sideways. I'm not as computer savvy as I thought.

Good day everyone! Enjoy the Sunday.

NO NO NO! MY DH doesn't treat me badly I meant to say my DD treats me badly. :scared1: My DH was bugging me to get off the DIS so he could eat. :lmao:
I did make my DM cry today in our weekly phone call because I was complaining about my sisters. :guilty: They can't be bother to recognize I'm alive.:confused3 So now she thinks it's all her fault.
At least if I vent here you all won't take it personally!

Wow...so much has happened since I last checked in. We had DS b-day party on Sat so I was busy making the Tank cake (I'll post pics soon) and getting things ready.

Magikitty - Congrats on the second tag!!! That cat is adorable. You must have quite an "in" with the TF. ;) You deserve it! Bummer about the "Customer No Service" at your bank. There's just no excuse for that. :sad2:

Shmu - Good luck in the next few months. We'll miss you. Check in with a "Hi" if you can from time to time.

Disney54us & Dreamin - Love the new avitars!!!! :thumbsup2

Whgrn - So sorry things have been so bad for you lately. My DS10 has severe ADHD, is autistic and shows aspects of bi-polar disorder. He is MORE than a handful each day. If you ever need to talk PM me. We can exchange emails. I may not have the answer for you, but we can commisserate on parenting sons. :hyper: Also sending prayers for your health.:flower3:

You guys ROCK!!!

I wish I had more time, but its a bit of an off day here... Nothing major, but DS is tired, and I've finally succumbed to the cold he and DH had, and DH is trying to study for a test, so I'm in charge but in a very lazy state.
But, I wanted to at least check in... I haven't read everything, but I skimmed and read your posts WHGRN.

Hang in there kiddo! You are in a lot of thoughts and prayers from everyone here. Please do check in w/ you doc on both the meds and the tummy. Anti-depressants can be a serious mess, as I know you are aware. And, depression in general is nothing to be cavalier about. I'm glad you've decided to talk it out. Glad you pushed up your appt. to Monday, we'll all be thinking of you. That waiting part is SO scary. Somehow, I think especially as women, not knowing the facts can be so stressful. Its like rather than dealing w/ one outcome, we try and solve ALL possible outcomes while we wait. And, no one can do that.

As for DS, I'm glad you are trying some "creative parenting." Sometimes it takes something totally off the wall. And, I'm glad you told us, and talked to BFF. You shouldn't have to go this alone. It really does "take a village." We, as a culture, have gotten away from that. We try so hard to be independent. But, we need people.

We are always here for all the "virtual" help you need. Not to segregate our male members and visitors, but I'm so glad we've all found a group of women to commune w/ here. I don't have many female friends, and speaking to a group w/ like minds always helps. I get along well w/ men, and enjoy having them as friends, but I do find that when I really have a tough situation, its a huge help to have a GF to talk to.

So, HUGS to you WHGRN and we'll be thinking of you. Come here anytime you need.

And, thanks to everyone. We've really become a regular support group for all of our everyday and not-so-everyday worries and concerns, joys and sadness. I think this thread was really (and is) a blessing.

Thanks. I think you hit the nail on the head here! And all of you just make it soooo much easier to deal with this life that I did NOT sign up for!:rotfl:

Oh DL55 I'm sooo glad it's your DD, not your DH! (but how funny that you typed DH when he was bugging you to get off!!) Hey, DD will eventually grow up and leave home! I figured out today that in about 7 years and 5 months, DS will go away to collge!!!!!!!! BFF says I'll cry when he leaves, I say I'll be doing handsprings in the living room!

Wow...so much has happened since I last checked in. We had DS b-day party on Sat so I was busy making the Tank cake (I'll post pics soon) and getting things ready.

Thanks D&D--it helps so much to know that others "get it".

Shmu--sounds like you are gonna be REALLY busy! Have fun!

Things here are settling down some. Today I got the kids up and out with the ex, and then after breakfast I made 2 executive decisions:
1--my pastor is away this week, and we had a guest preacher, and I didn't have the energy to get dressed and out the door (I'd NEVER miss a week with our regular pastor there, he's THAT good!)
2--I needed some "me time".

So, my water bottle and I curled up in bed and watched 'Enchanted'. Now, if 90 minutes of "Patrick McDreamy" (as DD calls him!) doesn't cure this depression, NOTHING will!! I hadn't seen the movie before, and it was adorable! Soooo sweet! Not to mention the eye candy appeal... Anyway, after the movie, I took a short nap (about 40 minutes) and got up ready to face the rest of the day!

I realized that I made it though the whole movie without getting teary or overly emotional (not bad with a love story!) My temper is still very short, but no one was here to get me mad, so that didn't seem to be a problem. I had lunch, then went to "Tar-Zhay", that fine, upscale French store, to return some things and try to get new towels for the kids. I am SOOOO tired of picking up their towels fromt he floor, or screaming at them to do it, and hearing "it's not MY towel" from both kids. So, I am getting 2 different colors. Each kid will be assigned a color. If I find you towel on the floor after a shower, I dont' care if it is 6:00pm--you go to bed and stay there. Period! I am really sick of this issue!! (hmm, I guess you could sort of tell that, huh??) Unfortunately, they didn't have the towels I wanted, so I have to wait to hear from my DBiL where else I can get them (these are the towels made in his factory in Turkey that are wonderful, and they used to sell them at Target but seems like no more.)

Anyway, then I came home, shopped online for bathing suits for DD. Do any of you have daughters who wear Junior sizes? Have you SEEN the bathing suits for this year?!?!?:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: There seem to be 2 choices--the itsy bitsy teeny weeny string bikini, or the "Borat" look! Yes, i mean that man-thong looking contraption! They are AWFUL!!!!!!! Thankfully, I found some at JCPenney. DD likes tankinis, and with her bustline, the teenie bikini thing is NOT happening! So it took some real searching to find some decent ones in her size. I hope and pray that they fit her when they come!

Now, Iam relaxing--not hungry yet for dinner. No kids for another hour or so.:dance3: :cheer2: And the:laundy: got done last night. Ahhhh, peace.

Did I mention that you guys ROCK!!?? Oh, ok, just wanted to be sure...

Hi everyone. Just a quick check in. Mostly to check on WHGRN...and I see she is doing great. I think that is awesome!!! ;) This week is probably going to be crazy busy. One of my buyers is leaving and I can't decide on her replacement. UGGGGGG It is so stressful. There are two internal candidates that are both great people and both are qualified. My boss told me I have to pick one by tomorrow.

Still no word from MAGSDEN?

So sorry to run in and out again.
Just wanted to leave all of you a bunch of hugs.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
I will not be on the DIS for a while.
More info is on my PTR.
Just click on my siggie and on the first page look for ANNOUNCEMENT then click there.
Everything is fine. No need to worry.
Love you guys.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

So much excitement!!!!! We will miss you. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Ha ha. My DD seems to think it is okay to say whatever she wants to me. She is a good girl, but MAN THAT MOUTH!!! We might make it through 17 without sending her to the moon ha ha.

Morning Killers, didn't get to check in yesterday. AMC had a Godfather marathon, Part 1 & 2 so we sort chilled till 12:30 watching. I have never seen them. Took DS to my DM's so they could go to a train show, and DH and I hit Target and yes finally got started on some yard work:yay:. Seems spring weather hits about 3:30 - 5:30, yep thats it starts cold gets nice later for a couple of hours and over!!! Today Grey and on the colder side for spring.

Whgrn, so glad you are feeling better, sometimes you need to get your worse fears out and it helps. :thumbsup2 that you shared with BFF you needed to, we all need someone to lean on. As mothers I think we need to solve, take care of everything and everyone. It is hard for us to have someone take care of us. Good move on the 'creative parenting', hope it sticks.

Shmu lots of great things going on:goodvibes, we'll miss you and will be waiting for your return. So glad you didn't just 'fall off the boards', so true that then you wonder and worry like we are now with magsnden.

Dreamin, wow 6 days in the world are you sure you can't be a chaperone:confused3 . Thanks, for checking on making my avitar bigger.

Tomorrow my windows are being installed:cool1: :woohoo: , yes so strange to be excited about windows. Magikitty, you get it, living in a old house windows what a beautiful thing:laughing:. Of course would I rather be buying something you know pretty, decorative? Of course, but I really need those window in the "Ice Palace" oh and I just made sure by having these windows put in that we will all start having Spring Weather, so it is for the better good of all of us:rotfl:.

Okay, didn't multiquote, so Hello to everyone, and whatever I missed commenting on sorry. Talk to you all later.

Hi everyone, its Monday, the last day of March, and its sleeting outside. The forecaster is reassuring me that, although less warm than expected, we are going to approach 50's. Kinda hard to believe when everything outside is glittering in ice.

Nothing new to say since last night on my end.

Still no sign of Magsnden. I hope that everything is just busy and nothing serious. Little prayers out to her and to whgrn.

disney54us...I dream of new windows, but I need to address some siding issues this spring. Ugh. Lots of money for necessary expenses, but so not fun. Could totally fund an amazing trip....or get new siding. I need to think about it for a while.... I too have to do yard work, but its just too cold out, and the ground is still too hard. This has been a tough season.

I must admit, I don't get the Godfather thing. I have watched it, and admit that they are good movies, but some people absolutely worship that series. That and Taxi Driver, which is on my list of "must see" movies, but there are so many on there that I don't know when I'll get to see it!

I'm trying to convince myself to brave the weather and go to the bank. Until then, I just do my work. Hoping for a warmish spell this afternoon. And its Battlestart Galactica week on SciFi...I hope I've figured out the DVD recorder and I won't miss anything....its shaping up to be rough day.

Oh that's right the bank thing. Never did get to address that issue. The VP, is a idiot, maybe they need to put them through a refresher course on customer service and relations:rolleyes1. Drives me nuts when you here about this company and that one that isn't doing well. Well maybe b/c companies have lost sight of the end user US the customer.
I know the necessary evils, as you think you know what I could do with that money, I keep telling myself I will be pleased when I see my utility bills. I actually am happy to start the window process and will be happier when I get all of them replaced, some year.

Oops remembering:yay:, Lighttech hope your cold gets better quick, that PA cold is going round first dreamin and now you.

whgrn, exciting about new furniture for DD, bet she will love it.
Okay back to work for me to much stuff, to little time.

Good morning everyone. Just popping in to say hi. Got some drama this morning...No surprise there, it is Monday after all.

So we are having this luncheon for the buyer that is leaving. She is...shall I say...outspoken. She was very specific on who she wanted to come to her lunch and asked that it be kept small. The receptionist is an older lady that she has known for a really really long time and she really wanted me to make sure she was invited. I of course invited her (she is a reallyl nice lady).

This morning I find out that the girl that would normally cover the front desk for her has invited herself. :scared1: Not only that, but the buyer that is leaving has said that if she is going we can count her out. AHHHHGGGGGGG. This after I managed to get the front desk covered too. Man I hate drama. Of course it gets worse. The receptionist is so annoyed by the whole thing that she is emailing this girls manager and pointing out that she invited herself. I just hung up the phone with her and asked her to please leave me out of it because I think it is mean.

I am sure it will be mega drama by tomorrow. How in the world do people function with so much drama??? Oh for the record that girl that invited herself is annoying, I will give her that, but that is never a reason to be mean IMO. The only input I had to give was that we should all just let it go. Front desk is covered, so no harm no foul. Do ya think they would be willing to let it go?????? NOOOOO!

Too bad I am on a diet because I think I am having a Hershey Kiss moment (I cheated all weekend so cheating is out)

and as I was typing the above:

Oh for goodness sakes...just got an email..the recruiting guy does not agree with my choice of new hire. Okay signing out to go placate an entire office full of people. Yay me.

whew...vent over now ha ha ha

Monday morning blues...

Pepperw23, I find it so amusing that there is such mega-drama about people WANTING to go to a farewell luncheon. After all, if they've functioned as coworkers everyday, surely they can suck it up and endure a simple lunch! And have we lost sight of the good intentions--that some people want to say goodbye on a good note? I think it would be far more upsetting if no one wanted to go at all!

Wow, the office is going crazy. You can handle it all.

Just sniff the Hershey Kiss. Help yourself out.

The sanders/plowers are out. This is crazy stuff.

:grouphug: God is good. :grouphug:
I know my 'live' friends would not understand how this thread is so caring and supportive. It is definitely a blessing.
I don't have anything to add. Just praying for the situations. Gotta go see why we're loosing our "Shoe" and will check back later. :grouphug:

whgrn So glad you are feeling better! In 7 years and 5 months you probably will cry and do hand springs. :upsidedow
pepperw23 Never could understand why some people don't grow up.:confused3 I worked in a casino, in the slot dept., where there was a lot of "she was looking at me funny" type comments. I thought I was back in Jr High.
MagiKitty Spring HAS to get here soon. :goodvibes

Good morning everyone. Just popping in to say hi. Got some drama this morning...No surprise there, it is Monday after all.
ha ha

Poor Pepper!! Our office is often like that too (and most I've been in) I just don't get it. Aren't we supposed to be adults.

Darn... think I lost some multi's again.

WHGRN - Glad things seem to be looking up and that you are being positive. Still thinking of you and hoping for more good news.

I don't know who mentioned the towels, but, I think that whoever leaves them on the floor in a wet mess should be required to use them that way after their next shower... Nothing more UN comforting than a cold wet towel.

Magikitty - LOVE the new tag. Didn't even know they could be pictures.

OK, gotta run. I can hear DS playing in his crib... time to go rescue him from his "non-nap." I promised we'd make paperbag puppets this evening, and I think I got him too excited. (I've been kind of just getting by the past day or two w/ this cold, so I wanted to make sure we did some dedicated mommy/son time today.)

Oh, one more... Wish me luck. Visiting 1 new potential daycare tomorrow, and hoping for an appt. at a second. Its the one that is the most financially feasible, but the director has been out of town. I want to go see it and I'm really hoping that its up to snuff so to speak.

It's crazy I tell ya. Lucky it all seemed to works itself out... I hope.

Still Snow!!! I don't think I could take it. I was fussing today because it was in the 60's. Can't even imagine all the sleet, snow. I am officially back to stage 1 in my hiring. After talking to our recruiter, I see his point with my choice...of course there was undisclosed information and he DID send me the guy to interview. Oh well no biggie.

Dude, I totally sniffed the hershey kiss!!!!

Sorry DD is guilty, but I suppose that comes w/ the teenage category... VERY glad to hear that DH is good to you!!! :rotfl:

So I went to the doctor today...

#1, surprise, surprise, I do NOT have cancer! Well, duh? Only in my worst possible imaginings would that happen, right?

#2, he thinks that the swollen area is a) an infection--this is the most likely choice, b)a hernia that doesn't act like a hernia--this is the least likely choice, or c) a ball of mesh that has worked it's way free from one of the many hernias in there and made a big lump. In any event, I'm scheduled for a CT scan on Friday and then we'll know what exactly is going on.

#3, I get to have yet another surgery, regardless of what the CT scan shows. (if it's infection, probably doesn't need surgery, but the mesh ball or the hernia would) But the good doctor says that even though my abdomen has healed very much since I last saw him 6 weeks ago, he doesn't think it's gonna go much farther. Apparently the underlying tissue should be nice and red, and it's more orangey-peach. Soooo, time for the skin graft we had talked about a year ago even before this last hernia repair. Hopefully that is all that will need to be done, and NOT another hernia. I asked alot of questions about the skin graft. The good new is, it should only take about 2 weeks to heal totally once the graft is done. That is IF it takes. It SHOULD take, but remember, this is ME we are talking about. But, worst case scenario, he says I won't be any worse than it is now, AND if it doesn't take completely, it will take in sections, and over time it will eventually 'take" all around the graft (sort of like when you plant grass and it doesn't all come up at once, but eventually it all fills in.) So hey, I can deal with that. And, if by some miracle (please, please, PLEASE, God?!?!) it takes completely right away, in just 2 weeks postop, I will have an intact abdomen!!!! The bad news is that I will have to be in the hospital for 5 days. It takes the 5 days to 'stick', and during that time I have to basically lie still. Any movement is like an earthquake to those new little blood vessels, so minimal movement is key. I'm hoping for the last week of April--not too much on my calendar that week. And, since the week after is standardized testing for both kids, I've kept that week empty of all extraneous activity, which will be perfect for recovering at home!

In any event, I go back to see him in 2 weeks, CT results in hand, and we'll decide then when we are doing this. I will, of course, kieep you posted.

In other news, my mood continues to stabilize, but I'm still grouchy. So I've decided to give it a week. If the irritablility doesn't resolve by then, i'll talk to the doctor about making some changes. DS has been an angel today for some reason. he's currently in the shower (hmm, anyone want to guess where his towel will end up??:lmao: ), his homework is all done, and he has asked if he can help cook dinner. I looked at him and thought, "who are you and what have you done with my son?!?":rotfl2: His only negative behavior came when DD decided to stick her finger in his peanut butter and he got quite bent out of shape. And I really can't blame HIM for that. She got reprimanded and had to apologize. Now, DMom is on her way and will be spending the night for 2 nights. I am going to the dentist tomorrow for a TON of work (to be done under sedation), so she has to babysit me! Don't know how much I'll be on tomorrow--it depends on how groggy I am!

OMG it sounds like a soap opera!!! Makes me REALLY glad to be on a "medical sabbatical" right now--no office politics to deal with! And when I go back to work, I'll be moving around enough that I hopefully won't encounter too awfully much of it.

WHGRN - Glad things seem to be looking up and that you are being positive. Still thinking of you and hoping for more good news.

Thanks lighttech. And that was me with the towel story (see my note above about DS in the shower...) Hope you find the PERFECT daycare tomorrow and that they have an opening . It WILL all work out for you, I just know it!

   to all of you wonderful women. I am so happy and honored to count you as my friends.

just checking in quick. Still fighting that cold....sinuses are killing me.

whgrn- so glad you got good news from the doc today. Sending you some pixiedust: that all keeps going well for you.

lighttech -good luck at the daycare tomorrow.

pepperw23-your story makdes me glad I'm still a SAHM. I don't think I could deal with stuff like that.

Towels:scared1:, my thing was the bath mat, if you put it on the floor why oh why can't you pick it up from the floor?? And please don't toss your damp/wet towel on you bed and let it lay there:eek:.
OOps did it again:laughing: Quoted in between my multi quote!!!!

Oh, one more... Wish me luck. Visiting 1 new potential daycare tomorrow, and hoping for an appt. at a second. Its the one that is the most financially feasible, but the director has been out of town. I want to go see it and I'm really hoping that its up to snuff so to speak.
Good luck with the daycare, it really is about what you are comfortable with. Schools that cost you tons of $$$$ are not always the best. You'll know when you found the right place:!

:woohoo: see things are looking up!!! Well until that lay in bed for 5 days. But great news, and you know you can deal with that, so all is good and the towel thing, heck it drives us nuts, but is what our darlings do. Imagine, when they are married how it will drive their wives nuts:lmao:. Of course us the MIL's will get the blame that we 'spoiled them'.
See how you feel emotionally, but don't wait to long. You have a good sense of when you are or aren't feeling right, but you have just been down a tough week load. It could be that you are feeling what anyone would feel (I can't take this!) or you may need to 'play around' with meds (meaning your DR). After the end of week you had anyone would feel 'grouchy' but you know yourself, so just like the stomach thing just call the dr. and go forth:goodvibes

just checking in quick.

Oh dreamin, that cold:sick:, yuk sinuses don't let it go to far. I have really bad sinuses can't get 'just a cold' it always goes into sinus infection. Clear them out take some Sudefed if not better call Dr. Now go to bed, after a steamy shower and some Vick's Vapor Rub:goodvibes.

Oh, pepper what drama:scared1:, I'm confused as usual I thought you work accounting, maybe that was Audisfan. You keep saying buyer in your office so I guess I'm wrong on the accounting thing:laughing:

Okay, big day tomorrow :cool1: windows by 9:00am:laughing:. The past couple of night on FLN (Fine Living Network), they had 'what you get for your money) vacation. Guess where Killers???? Yep that's right, WDW!!! Caught it on my way up 2 nights ago, then last night same thing happened. I thought it's on again:woohoo:, at least I caught it more from the begining.
It was based on the same amount of money and going for 5 days 4 nights and three different people and where how they stayed. One was a couple who were there on there honeymoon 31 years ago, so it was just †he 2 of them and they did more luxurious things. The next was a couple with 2 kids and then their was a mom with her 2 or three? boys. So it was showing the different things for different ages and family make ups. From that, I know in my to many trips that we have never gone to the Yaht Club Steakhouse, I want to do this, I know that one of the 'water parks' which I wanted to do for DD have 'surfing lessons' and the waves keep coming. Tried b/f but they were booked so maybe that would be fun. This is the first time, this past year that we have 'missed' a year since 98. So don't I get to make up for time loss??? Look at the money we saved:laughing:.

Oops almost forgot, DL55 so glad, well not glad it's your DD but glad you weren't talking about your DH. Teenagers, Don't you love them??? You have to, what else could we do with them;).

Hi, nice to here from you. Can you explain about the "shoe":confused3 QUOTE]

Sorry---Shmu's got a shoe under her name...and someone called her shoe maybe on the other thread...and she said she won't be on for a while and to go to her thread to see why.
I gained .4 at WW but considering I went out to eat 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 4 dinners last week, I was happy with it. My friend wasn't going but I convinced her to go. She was venting about her hubby. I think there's a lot of stress/problems everywhere we look. :upsidedow I do thank God for friends.
pixiedust: Tomorrow's another day.

Okay, Thanks!!! The shoe, of course the shoe!! I call those flip flops, and I love her avitar. .4 is not bad, so slap it off and move on:thumbsup2. You can do it:cheer2:

Ugggggh, Okay, you all know the recipe thread you guys told me about when I was looking for the dip? Well, I'll fill in tomorrow, but I can't believe what is going on the OP is missing and we were tring to track her down, or have them let us update the index, you can't believe the mess this has become. I contacted Kaylar, its not her forum and she turned it over to the mods there and it's just become a whirlwind. I'm being nice:cloud9:. Go over and read the last few and see. :scared1:

My siggie will be "GET A LIFE!!!"
