whgrn-you took 2 kids shopping for clothes and shoes in the same day? I think you could get away with a temporary insanity plea!!! :lmao: I hate clothes shopping with DD12. She loves shopping. Me, well, I go to the store, know exactly what I need, get it, and leave. Nope, not her. Getting a new pair of jeans is a 3 hour ordeal with her tryine on every pair in my price range....sometimes 2x because she can't decide. And shoes are even worse. She has more pairs of shoes than I do...she even spends her allowance on shoes. Sometimes I wonder if she is my daughter. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: No, my DD HATES shopping! She is not interested in clothes (or shoes AT ALL) She just doesn't want to dress "fancy" (read: decently). Her idea of formal wear is clean jeans and a polo shirt. She is a total tomboy and would rather wear loose fitting jeans and a baggy t shirt or sweatshirt. NOT gonna happen in MY house! I am weeding out all her offensive clothes, and refusing to buy anything that I don't think is reasonable. Hey, she has to wear SOMETHING, so if all she has available is appropriate, then she will be forced to dress appropriately!:thumbsup2

I'm the meanest mom in the whole world...:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Wait, your DD's choice of wardrobe sounds just like mine. :rotfl: As much as I love my baggy jeans and t-shirts, I do have what you call "appropriate" clothes. Of course, those are slowly disappearing since DD has taken to raiding my closet for all my "cool clothes". But yet a couple of years ago, she had the nerve to ask me why I don't dress in style. :scared1: :rotfl: I just can't win with her...either my clothes are horrible or she steals everything she can get her hands onto. Kids...gotta love em.

Oh, everything else for the wedding is pretty much done. She just can't find a cake. I've sent her dozen of pictures but maybe she has just seen too many. Yeah, she's still has a partial beach theme going on. The invitations are being sent in bottles and part of the table decorations are small bottles filled with sand and seashells.

What crash? Tonight? Could you explain more?
Don't know too much, came from a 11 yr old. He said his dad was in TN for the races and had just texted him there was a crash:confused3, maybe it wasn't that bad, (Hopefully):thumbsup2. I like the bottles w/invitations, sand and seashells, love it. Since she's running w/the beach theme has she considered a cake done as a 'sand castle'?? It would be different and continue the theme:thumbsup2.

Hey Killers!! Been a crazy busy day--church, friends over, then clothes and shoe shopping with the kids.

If I kill someone for abject stupidity, is it still considered murder? And if it is, will you all visit me on death row, bake me a cake with a file in it, and spring me?:rotfl2:

Like I said, monjo shopping with the kids. First stop was Payless. They both were in desperate need of new sneakers, and DD needed shoes for Easter and for Nanny & Grandpa's 60th anniversary party the following week. So, we found sneakers X 2 for each of them, and some very nice, white, comfy, dressy shoes for DD for $10. I told her she needed them for Easter and the party, we talked about how they would look with her dress (the ONLY one she owns, BTW...). Fine. Well, fast forward to tonite, DEx stops by to drop off DD's purse that she left at his house yesterday. I tell him "we got shoes'. He says, "I got her shoes!" So I send her to get the ones I bought, and I look at what he bought and laugh, and say "she wouldn't be caught dead in these!" (they are REALLY ugly! Gold metallic, with a wedge heel, sort of like ballet flats with a heel, in sort of a mesh looking leatherette. UGH!) And DEx says "she picked these out!" WHAT?!?!?! First of all, I'm stunned because she has a fit if there is ANY heel when I pick a shoe for her. But, helllllooooo? We went shopping today, ONE DAY after he bought these shoes WITH her. We talked about WHY we were getting the shoes. Did she, at ANY time, mention that "oh, mom, I don't need new shoes--Daddy bought me some yesterday"??? NO!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Anyway, the rest of our shopping was quite successful. I got some great clothes for DD--obviously for a girl, but casual enough that she doesn't feel "fancy" (which, being a total tomboy, she hates). Lots of pinks and other bright colors. Her skinny little butt (size ONE!!!) looks so cute in basically anything she puts on. I got her 2 "grownup" bathing suits (she's a full B cup, so the girls' sizes just don't cut it anymore.) One bikini, and one tankini, which she will wear Thursday when she goes swimming with the church youth group (they invited the middle school kids to come--all 3 of them!) And I found jeans and khakis for DS--no small feat, since he's an 8 slim and that size is impossible to find. Thank God for WalMart!!!

This weekend has gone by so fast, I can't believe tomorrow is Monday already!

Ooooh, that sounds so pretty! I think you should go with it just the way you said it! And of course, we will need pictures...

We have a patio that never got much use, since it gets full, constant sun and gets VERY hot. We had an awning, but it didn't do much good. Well, last fall we put on a covered, open porch. What a difference!!! Now we have shade, a nice area to sit outside. I cannot wait for spring and the chance to try it out!

OMG that sounds hysterical! This is gonna be one interesting wedding!

Okay you have been busy! The shoe thing, maybe daddy picked them out and she was aiming to please, or the inner girlie side is coming out:laughing:. I've heard that awnings sometimes hold the heat more, yes it shields you from the sun but it contains the air under it. Covered open porch is nice the best of both worlds:goodvibes. Ah pictures, you know it's on my wish list of things to learn to do:laughing:.

:rotfl2:, welcome to the pre/teen world, wait till she starts w/ make up and yours disappears:confused3, into her make up case!!!

Good Morning Killer's and a Happy ST. PATRICK's DAY to all!! Okay, not Irish, MIL was. You would never know it except once a year, she always cooked Italian for FIL. Her Irish came out on St Patty's always made corn beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread and green jello for the kids. I finally decided to make her corn beef & cabbage. Sil has her recipe, so we'll see how it goes:confused:.

Weddings and Shopping.
Lots going on.
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
I'm posting in green today in honor of the day.

Good Monday Morning dear friends! And Happy St. Patrick's Day to those of you that observe. I myself do not have a drop of Irish blood in me, but I enjoy the spirit of the day. And, of course, green tint frosted baked goods.

Thanks so much for contacting kaylajr and getting a clear response. So no worries for us TKers! We'll still be together, and it seems with minimal confusion.

Ah, weddings. Just heard from my GF who got married two weekends ago (I wasn't able to go, but my parents in the Phils did). It was so lovely. The idea of a lighted trellis is great--is it an evening wedding? The pictures will be framed nicely. The last few wedding I've been in, yes, the wedding day starts way way early as everyone gets together to get ready together. I guess its a way to insure that everyone's makeup is tasteful and on the same lines, good for pictures. And if you want to have similar hair styles. Its been fun coz we've giggled and eaten, a good way for the bride to relax, and more memories made. Prep pictures were really funny.

I must be in the minority here b/c I'm very girly-girly and love to shop. But I wasn't always so girly, it really developed later in life. As for the shoes, I'd bet your DD just wanted to get shoes to 1)please the Daddy, and 2) get the Daddy out of the store ASAP. But it was really sweet for him to take her shopping, although I do agree that her memory lapse is funny!

Still haven't done laundry. Its starting to gang up on me.

Happy Day everyone!

Me either, but everyone's Irish on St. Patty's Day:banana:. Not sure the time of the wedding, but I like lights and candles for atmosphere:goodvibes. Truth be told I'm a bit of a candle nut, that's why I started making my own:guilty:.

And, of course, green tint frosted baked goods.

:lmao: Mmmm...green tint frosted baked goods!!!! We must be from the same mold because that's what I would have said.

Disney54us... Did you sign off at all since yesterday?:rotfl2:

Happy St. Pats Day to all! Anyone wearing green today?:drinking1 Can you believe some people start drinking at 6am today and don't stop?? Couldn't believe it when I heard on the radio this morning that the bars will open at 6AM:scared1:
Anyone else a little concerned about the economy after the news of Bear Sterns selling for $2 per share? Should I stuff the money under my mattress now?

Gotta get back to work. Later!!

Okay... Quick shameless post to get me to 700!!!!!::banana: :woohoo:

Now I am going back to work!

Happy St Pat's Day! I have on my shamrock socks. Socks for each holiday are a necessity for elem teachers. Congrats on going back to school Shmu. The advice I was given was Do not smile before Christmas. Friends are saying special ed is job security since it's so needed now.

I have a washooba. It's also known as Mom. :lmao: Since I go every weekend to her house to take her for groceries, etc, she does it with hers.

You all were very chatty this weekend. At least 9 pages. So I'm not mulitquoting that. Way too confuzzing...;)

I see we had some fly by postings from TKers. Come again.

Bopsmom: A recipe I can make! Thanks for the black bean chili. Sounds yummy and has nothing in it I don't know what it is! I'm trying to get a friend to go to Wegmans with me. It's about 45 min away.

Dreamin: Glad your stepmom is enjoying the peeping. I think Allegiant Air is supposed to come to Lancaster in the fall for 3 flights a week to Sanford. I flew into Sanford several times. It's easy to get to. Now I have to go from Harrisburg to Phila then MCO. Don't like going to Phila because you have to get a bus to the other terminal. I flights are almost $300 now.

I hope all the sickies are better. Glad everyone was safe through the stroms.

Happy St Patrick's Day
Congrats D&DDisney on your 700 post!:cheer2:
I don't like shopping because everything looks terrible on me. To get anything to fit across my chest means the rest just hangs. If I get anything that fits around my waist then I feel Like everyone will stare at my chest (wondering if they're going to burst out).

oh DL55, I totally sympathize. But my problem is my thick middle--more so than my bustiness. Anything that fits in the waist is totally huge down my legs. Button down shirts are a big no-no (due to aforementioned bursting out), I stick mostly to V-necked shirts. I guess I shop coz I'm looking for that magic pant/jean that will fit the middle and not be misfitted below. I guess its also why I dress so girly--lots of skirts so I don't have to worry about pant length and width!

Of course, I can always shop for shoes and books!

The sad part is I have a thick middle too. All my jeans look baggy 'cause I have no butt and stick legs.:headache: If I have a button blouse I sew it close at the bust line and make it a pullover. What ever happened to darts in your blouse?

TOP O' THE MORNIN' TO YA, LASSES! (well, ok, afternoon...) I'm not all that Irish, but it only takes a drop!

:rotfl2:, welcome to the pre/teen world, wait till she starts w/ make up and yours disappears:confused3, into her make up case!!!

Ummm, no makeup for her to borrow--I don't wear any!! Except the occasional lipstick on formal occasions...

And then I complete the picture. The classic pear, I am ALL hips and thighs. Small shoulders, normal waist, and then BOOM! I look like a triangle.

Did I miss the prom report? Are there pictures?

Well, DS actually took a nap today, so after re-arranging the living room and doing some cleaning, I stole a shameless 20 min for myself to catch up here! ;) Of course, it took me so long to catch up and I've done so much multi quoting, now its time to wake DS and I can't even remember what I was going to say... :lmao: But, here goes...

That is bad...so glad you are all ok. We've gotten a tornado up here once that I can remember. I was still a kid when it happened. It wasn't very big but I remember driving past the cornfield where it went through and you could see the line with the cornstalks torn out. I couldn't even imagine living with the almost constant threat of a full-scale tornado.

Thank goodness you are all ok. Sending prayers your way that everyone stays safe down there.

I remember one here (we're near West Chester, PA) when I was in highschool. Very scary. I always joke that we get a little bit of everything... blizzards, drought, those one or two tornadoes, floods, hurricanes every decade or so, severe thunderstorms, high winds, hail, sleet, and we even had a very, very, very small earthquake (couldn't even feel it) when I was in high school.

Wanna laugh. I was called my MIL she is going to use my Peeps Corps and Green Peeps picture for a friend of ours. He is a cartoonist and gets a laugh from DD's and my pictures. He's a real sweetie.:lovestruc

He is DD's mentor. A political cartoonist and writes childrens' books. He always sends DD autographs of books and pictures for her. He has done some great books!
We got called us last night and asked, "did you go to Horton Hears a Who?" We said we are going to this weekend, he said, check out the credits- He was the animator for the movie!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: He said Seus was his inspiration and he is DD's. He wanted her to know that if you just keep at passion you will go far.
We are so happy for him!Ya never know do you!!!!

How cool, and how nice for DD to have a mentor. I always thought Children's book writing would be for me, but so do a lot of people. I've at least started to write a few seriously, but never pursued publication. I recently bought a "kids book publishing for dummies" type book. I don't assume it will be the source of all knowledge, but I thought it might give me an idea of whether I wanted to go up against the chances or not.

How about "Thread Killers Reunited"? :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I love it!

ooh, so now I'm worried about our thread being locked. I only recently got over our being moved here to the CB. I suppose once again that they will give us notice before they lock? Will we have to start a new thread on our own? Does anyone know how to add a link? This is going to bother me until it happens.

ps---No notifications here about new posts. I just have to keep checking and refreshing all the time. It just adds to my procrastination.

Was going to answer, but others got to it before me!

Allegiant Air is a small no-frills airline that flies out of Lehigh Valley Airport. That airport is only 10 minutes from my house so that's a major plus. They only fly a restricted schedule but if I can work it, I will. They offer almost nothing on their flights for free (you even have to pay for snacks and drinks) but they are almost always on time. And like I said, it is the only direct flight from here. The only really bad thing is they don't fly into MCO so no Magical Express. It's making my brain hurt trying to find a way down there.

We've had good luck w/ Southwest (although w/ their planes being grounded recently... :confused3 ) A co-worker of mine swears by Spirit when he goes to Florida. They fly out of Atlantic City, NJ. We used to drive to Baltimore to take SW before they came to Philly. The difference in fares was so big, it more than covered the parking and driving.

Blue Skies in GA.:cool1:
Clean up time now I guess.
Gotta share an ad I saw on Craigs list this morning.

It Said

Free Duplex with some Tornado Damage

Cheapest duplex in Atlanta, must be moved to your location. The roof has already been removed for ease of transport and currently sits in he middle of Lucy Street. Slight structural damage, but all systems including HVAC are less than four years old. House has plenty of beautiful natural light in all rooms, for that back to nature feel. Please feel free to view aerial shots, currently available at channels 2, 5 and 11. As Robin Williams said in "The world according to Garp", I'll take it, it has been pre-disastered, What are the odds of anything like this ever happening to it again. Sorry, I cannot deliver...please don't ask.

.:hippie:

Thank Heavens for humor. Its gotten me thru a lot in life. I hope it helps out this poor guy too. Gotta give him some serious credit for finding the light side.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo Everyone:)

I answered the PM but than figured I would pop on and explain it to you all here.
???

Thanks so much!!!

Seems she love the idea and to my surprise things have changed since I got married. The bridesmaid (all 7) do hair and make up here??? In my day they came to your house ready, okay they may put the dresses on at your house and 'freshin' up their make up. Anyway it's fine and I don't mind my SIL even gave me a thanks and if you want to back out it's okay , that's alot of girls getting ready. I'm excited actually and have been looking at things to make the house 'bridal' day ready. So any suggestions, throw em out there Killers. I did see a great lighted trellis at Micheal's that would look great at the bottom of my steps outside. Then I would line the walkway w/terra cotta pots w/magnolia leaves and candles in the center covered w/hurricane glass. Hopefully my hydrandrea's will still be in bloom they are hedges going down the side and when in full bloom look like a snowy mountain.
Okay, sorry to go on and on, just needed to give you guys the backround and where I'm going w/this.

Oh! How nice of you, and it sounds beautiful just how you described it! I wasn't living at home anymore for my wedding, so all my bridesmaids, my folks, etc. got ready at my house. Of course, 2 were from out of town (I only had 3) so they were staying there anyway. The getting ready pics are some of my favorite!

Well, we went to the bridal show today. It was alot smaller than I thought it would be. Stepmom did make a few appointments for cake testing so that is out of the way now. The host for the prize give aways was horrible. He kept trying to be funny but fell very short of that goal. One of the highlights of the day was the men's formal wear show. They called up 4 mother's of the bride and handed each of them a piece of a tux. They then called out one of the models who came out only dresses in a towel. The moms then had to dress the very good looking model. Let's just say there were some very happy moms after that. :rotfl: By the end of the day, we ended up sitting in one of those limo bus things watching the race on their big screen tv. A perfect end to the day.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK, 15 minutes late getting DS up! He'll be SO hyper at bedtime if I don't go. But, thanks again everyone for the suggestions on my "free night" the other night. Got to meet up w/ an old college friend. Met out Dreamin's way (sort of) in Boyertown since its about 1/2 way btw us and Allentown where she lives. Ate at a great little place and had a wonderful time! Thanks!

Yeah for naps, glad you had a great 'adult' night out. We all need those from time to time:goodvibes.
Maybe by then I learn to upload pic's:confused3.
Doubt that, just hit preview and had clicked to have writing come up in green and well as you can see nadda:sad1:.
