Thanks for the recipe...variations look good too.

Anyone have MacN Cheese pizza? I had some at CiCi's Pizza in Orlando and loved it. CiCi's is opening in March in Lancaster---30 min drive---and I cannot wait. NOT good for WW though.

Raining very hard now...saw a flock of robins though. Good sign.

Bopsmom - Thanks for the recipe. But, I take it you have a gas stove? Unfortunately, we're electric. So, I could do the boiling water on the wood stove, but I'm out of luck for the baking part. Hmmm... I wonder if tinfoil pans on top of the wood stove would do... Could make for an interesting disaster the way I cook! :scared:

I'm with you D&D!

My BF and I believe the four food groups are: potato, cheese, fried, and frosted. Any combination of the above are a sure pathway to both happiness and atherosclerosis. How is that fair?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

i must agree!

BTW - I don't think I said, but I'm glad you had such a nice time on your solo trip. DH and I did WDW just before we decided to start trying for kids, and we had such a fun time together. It was a whole diff't experience going again w/ DS this past fall. Wonderful in a whole new way! But, I would like to get back there w/ DH some day. Maybe for a retirement party... in many, many moons!

I have a question! Does it have to be dry milk? (I'm talking about the Mac and Cheese recipe) Don't have any in the pantry and by the looks of it outside, won't be getting out anytime soon. And today would be perfect to have mac and cheese baking in the oven. Yummy. Thanks for posting the recipe!
Hmmm :scratchin may have to experiment some; you might just parboil/scald the milk (I'd use about 1 1/2 cups). Mix the flour/butter butter together in a bowl and add enough milk to make a paste then very quickly add the rest of the milk (this way you can avoid the lumps) Work quickly so you don't stir out the heat and then won't be able to melt the cheese.
BETTER YET Just go totally stovetop with that part:
Just go ahead and make the rue (melt butter/add flour-cook for a minute or two) then add the milk, don't boil but heat it enough to melt the cheese. Add the cheese, mix add rest of cheese. This is basically the regular way to make a cheese sauce. Good on Brocolli!
My recipe was for when the power is out.

i just quoted myself!! that's weird!
Sometimes talking to yourself is the best conversation you get that day.
Unless you are a Thread Killer that is!!!::thumbsup2

Yes we have a gas stove-wouldn't/couldn't be without it! Also a propane/gas grill with side burners. You can bake the mac N' cheese on the grill using indirect heat while you are cooking the meat for the meal/or using up the stuff defrosting from lack of power.

A CastIron Dutch Oven would work best on the wood stovetop.(you know the one with a lid). We've cooked/baked bisquits in one when we camp so I don't see why it wouldn't work in your case.

Tell me if something doesn't make sense. I have a terrible head cold and I'm a little foggy.

here you go pepper23.

i may be biased but he really is a sweet guy. somehow he's still single. but i think he secretly enjoys his bachelorhood!

Awwwww, that is cute!!! BTW how was your trip without the kids?

I find quoting yourself is the best way to get an expert's opinion. :snooty:

Mmmmmm all the No No's on South Beach.....ONLY A BILLION POUNDS TO GO!!! HAHA

Okay everyone has been very chatty today:thumbsup2, must be the weather or b/c it's Friday. Signed on earlier and started to multi quote only couldn't finish before trip to Wegmans. Nasty, cold and pouring but it could be ice and sleet so I won't complain. Recipe sounds good, love mac n cheese:).

Just venting real quick. DH is out w/ his buddies all day today, and he's been texting me periodically (kinda cute.) But, he just sent me one that made me kind of mad/sad. I know he doesn't mean it, and it comes across even worse in a short text, but I wasn't having the best day anyway. (Kinda blue. :sad1: ) Plus, I don't mind that he's got a day to himself (left last night) and that I take over picking up DS, putting him to bed, getting him ready and getting him picked up again and ready for bed tonight w/ no help... I know he needs friend time, but its been a really hectic day and a half, and as I said, I don't mind UNTIL he winds up being insensitive.

I don't work w/ any women, its all men in my department, so if I'm down from something silly like that, I wind up being pissy sometimes b/c there's no one to vent to who'd understand.

I know you guys get it!

Again, no biggie, but I just wanted to get it off my chest so I could finish my work day constructively w/o biting someone's head off for no reason.

I think I need some chocolate...

Thanks for listening...

Heading out the door in a few minutes. Just wanted to pop in and say Hi.:hippie:
I'll come back when I have time to read.
Have a great evening.
