Thoughts, please...Surgery 5/8

Just asking for some thoughts and prayers for Cody, my 5yo. We have to go to Philly today to see a pediatric urologist. The regular ped feels he will need to have surgery to fix his 'wee-wee'. We have bee preparing Cody for his appt... telling him he was going to see a new dr and that he was going to look at his wewe. (alltough we use the 'real' terms), so now he shouts that he is gonig to the dr for his @#$%^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please say a prayer for him today and that this isn't too tramautic for him!

Poor little mite! Hope it's not traumatic for him at all. Surely the doc will be very sensitive with the child.

We are back...only to have to go back to St Christopher's in a month....with pictures. If it wasn't so funny, I'd cry....we have to go back with digital picts of him 'salauting' so to speak...this way they can see how bad things are and if surgery is necessary.

Thanks for your thoughts....I will be asking for them again in a month!

No not just you babe. I had to do that with my son. In the end his was ok.... As he has grown he has begun to explore and has taken care of most of the issues on his own it seems.

Our thoughts are with you and your little one!

We were back in Philly today, looks like Cody's surgery is scheduled for May 8th. It will be one day surgery, but will take up to 3 hours. So that is 3 hours for me to sit and worry. Thank GOD for drugs....for me, not Cody!!!

Dr said there will be 2 incisions, one for the surgery site, one for the skin graft site and he will need to be out of 'school' (daycare) for about 4 days.

I'm sure I'll be asking for prayers in May.

Bumping this up to ask for prayers and thoughts for tomorrow. Cody will have his reconstructive surgery around lunch time. The Dr estimates it will take about 4 hours. They will use tissue from his leg for a skin graft to reconstruct....his....um... (well fill in the blank...hehe).


Please keep him in your thoughts. Being a nurse I know most of the time everythign is fine.....being a nurse I also know something can always go wrong, so I think I am more worked up about it then he is.
