I was thinking of staying at the cabins at Ft. Wilderness and was wondering how they are. Is there at lot of stuff to do at the campground? Is it easy to get to the theme parks? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Hi-
We stayed at the cabins last summer and really enjoyed it! You may get more info on the camping board-
We loved the rustic feel, the extra space, and the Trail's End buffet!
The only drawback was that I really felt we needed a golf cart to get around. The extra $$ wasn't expected- but the kids loved hopping into that cart every day on the way to the pool and parks! I understand they just refurbed the pool as well- there is now a themed slide....
Good luck and Enjoy!
Kris:thumbsup2

We stayed in a cabin in 1/07. There are 6 of us. Here is how I see it.
The pros:
they are quiet and nicely secluded from the hustle and bustle
like you said, the campground is gorgeous and has a lot of fun activities
having a kitchen was great, we did breakfast and even some other meals in the cabin

The cons:
only one bathroom with 4 big kids was not good
the beds were not that comfy and there is no private place for mom and dad;)
you DO have to take two buses to get anywhere, but I have to say we did fine with that....it was a short walk to the bus stop and there were never crowds waiting for the buses and we did not feel the need to rent a golf cart one bit

Overall, we loved the cabins and would stay there again, especially when we have less kiddos tagging along:thumbsup2

We loved it!!!
It was awhile ago - the kids were 8 and 4. We had just adopted DD4 and we were very glad we had the privacy and kitchen.
At the time she had not been DX yet but we knew she was a handful and needed "time outs" from the hussle and bussle of the parks. (Later we found out she has ADHD, fetal alcohol syndrome, and Mental disablilities)
We do like to walk alot but our cabin was very close to the pool and bus stop at the entrance/exit of the resort. We just walked to the bus stop and pool. If we wanted to go to the marina we walked or took the internal bus.

The beds were not great as someone else posted and DH and I ended up in separate rooms. I was in the double bed and the kids in the bunk bed while DH took the Murrphy bed.
Having the kitchen for quick lunches while we were allowing DD to unwind was very nice and we even made a couple of quick (spaghetti and taco) dinners.
