Thoughts on the Adventure?

Based purely on what we are seeing from social media... what are your initial thoughts about the Adventure? I'm really curious if other people are feeling the same way I am.

So far it really feels to me like a Royal Ship with Disney wallpaper. The non concierge staterooms remind me so much of the NCL Joy but with some Disney art... I also am not seeing many pools or activities and cant imagine how busy some of the areas will be with all the sailings to nowhere

I only seen bits and pieces so far. Would like to see personal navigators and a what a full day on board looks like. Most of the social media posts I saw look suspiciously empty in areas like it was staged for better content to be posted.

Even with the Disney wallpaper it doesn't look very nice. It doesn't appear to have the luxury feel I have come to associate with Disney. The room videos I have seen thus far seem very sparse and utilitarian. The sofa looks like a hard doctors office safe and super plain walls. Maybe as I see more I will change my mind.

It looks way too huge for our taste and as a pp mentioned, it's sailing from the other side of the earth.
No thanks. Hopefully people in Singapore will enjoy having their own Disney ship. :thumbsup2

I think the public areas look amazing and the food pictures that people are posting look really good too. The staterooms don't look that great, especially the standard ones but that wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me. And as for cruises to nowhere, well I kind of consider a cruise that just stops in Nassau or Progresso to be a cruise to nowhere anyway. And Singapore itself is a great destination, very safe and clean, easy to get around in English and lots to see and do.

I wouldn't go all the way to Singapore just for the Adventure, but from the west coast it's really not that much further away than the Med. And my teenagers have really gotten into Asia lately. They loved our last trip to Japan and now they want to go to other Asian destinations, so I could see us fitting a quick cruise in on a trip to the area.

While I still see the whole thing as a bit of an odd choice on DCL's part, I think the ship looks like a lot of fun and would definitely want to give it a try if I had the chance.

Good and bad for me so far. I really like all the different theming and new restaurant options & menus. I’m also excited for all the new shows. The rooms are disappointing and I hate the double sofa bed as opposed to the pull down bunk and twin couch bed. I also am not thrilled with the reservation system being reported on the media cruise. We sail in June!

I'm also disappointed with the double bed situation. My kids will not want to sleep together so that has sort of messed up things for us a bit as it will cause arguing.
I agree with the rides to be very kiddy and the water slides too.

Also very concerned about how the Sanfrantokyo area will look like with 6000 people all those games will be almost impossible to have a turn on.

I was in two minds if booking a B2B but I'm glad we have only booked four days and the rest we will spend in beautiful Singapore.

Rooms look ok, the rest looks like something we’d love to do. Looking at second half of 2027 for a few days in Singapore and a 4 nighter. We are in.

From what I seen online about the ship I have 2 thoughts

1. The ship and its itinerary are not meant for American Disney Cruise Cast Away Club members who have sailed on multiple Disney ships in The Bahamas and Caribbean.
2. American Disney Cruise Cast Away Club members who have sailed on multiple Disney ships in The Bahamas and Caribbean who DO fly to Singapore and do a cruise on The Adventure will complain about every aspect, as "its not what they are used to on a Disney ship".

Its not a Disney ship. Its a generic cruise ship which has been given a Disney make over.

The ship is a gateway for Disney Cruise Line to the China / Japan cruising market. It is for Chinese / Japanese Disney families who go to the Chinese / Japanese Disney parks. It is for the local market who want to go on a Disney cruise and have the budget to go on a Disney cruise but for whatever reason are not going to America for The Bahamas and Caribbean cruises.

As Disney Cruise found when they did the cruises to no where in 2021 in The UK on The Magic, there is a lot of demand for Disney cruises outside of the traditional The Bahamas and Caribbean cruises.

Why is it not a disney ship? It looks like it may even be more disney then the current ones to be honest.

In November 2022 Disney bought the unfinished Global Dream cruise ship. It was not designed by Disney and major parts of the ship were constructed before Disney bought the ship.

Disney then finished the construction and re themed the Global Dream and renamed it Disney Adventure. It was always planned for the Japan Chinese market.

I feel like it’s a mashup between trying to keep some of the things the US market is used to and adding some differences to cater to the Asian market. For example, if they were trying to cater strictly to the Asian market, I think the would handle the gratuity differently since most Asian countries don’t tip. They also aren’t providing toiletries like toothbrushes and such in the staterooms. Everything is also being charged in USD onboard.

I think because they purchased the ship at something like 70% complete, they were limited on some of the more structural changes they can make. My guess is the bunk situation is one of those.

Personally, I’m excited for something new and different but as expected, there’s good and bad. I’m also curious to see reports from the paid cruises as opposed to just what the media/influencers are pushing out….

I have just come across this YouTuber who has reviewed three of the restaurants if the Disney Adventure. Food looks pretty 😊

My general rule is to not take any food reviews from influencer sailings or the first few sailing to heart too much (either good or bad). Especially for the influencers because they are there by invitation and really want to be invited back to things by DCL And because DCL should definitely be putting its best foot forward, but it will be interesting to see if it keeps the same level and quality moving forward.

It's kind of like how on parent weekend the food at college tends to get quite a bit better than normal
