Thoughts on new countries in Epcot?

A source I found referenced the current rate to establish a new country at just over $100 million. They also need sponsorship derives from the countries government and corporate sponsors normally composed of a group of businesses under a lengthy contract. Initial countries signed 10 year contracts. Disney also looks at the Return on Investment (ROI) as many of the countries being referenced by many posters have already been proposed and pitched by Disney to the respective countries: Israel, Venezula, Ukraine, Soviet Union, Sweden, Poland, Egypt, Greece, New Zealand, Ireland, Romania, Saudia Arabia, Spain, etc.

Soviet Uniot, too late does not exist anymore.

One of the PPs mentioned that Australia was already represented in the forms of America, Canada and the UK. I wonder, did you mean because they're all predominantly english speaking countries, or what? I don't really get that connection. It's true they've got the queen on their money, but..

It is just that Australia, UK, US, and Canada are all so similar (and kinda boring). I would object to a Spain Pavilion for the same reason (Mexico). Yea I know they ARE different and have unique customs and histories . . . but c’mon, it’s like differentiating between North and South Dakota in comparison to choices like India, Greece, Russia, Egypt, Brazil, and Thailand.

I never did understand the American Pavilion. If you want an American experience go outside the Park! If you want to learn about American history go to Philly, D.C., or Boston. Plus, I think it is a little peculiar to drive/fly across America, as most of us do, to experience America. Canada and Mexico are also strange choices to me as most people can, and do, occasionally travel to these countries for vacation.

Now, countries that I would probably never have a chance to go to, especially with kids . . . that gets my attention!

Culturally, Australia is very similar to the UK. I can't really imagine how they would really distinguish between the two, unless they did a "modern Australia" pavilion. Which would also be strange since most of the other pavilions are more about history.

I think what really makes Australia so different is its wildlife and landmarks, and that's why it would be such a great addition to AK isntead.

actually we always skip it as well as Canada, for the reason you stated, but I guess it is a nice pavilion for foreign visitors.

Although India would not be one of my favorites for a new pavillion, a strong case could be made for it. A Taj Mahal themed ride could work or even a film like China and Canada. If nothing else, an Indian TS restuarant would be outstanding!

I would love an Indian TS restaurant at Epcot. "Street-foods," like chaats, or other things like steamed rice patties, vegetable or lemon rice, would work really well at a CS location! There are foods that are much more exotic but the ones I've mentioned do still give a taste of Indian cuisine.

For the people like me who miss a representation of a lot of classic characters around the World, the Jungle Book reference would be there. Baloo, Louie, Mowgli, Shere Khan, Hathi, Bagheera, Kaa, Junior, and that little :cutie: cutie monkey with the white hair during King Louie's song could all be there.

I vote for Russia and Eygpt, with India as an alternate.

Oh, what about Switzerland, I love fondue. They could build mini Alps.
