We just came back from the 5 night double dip on the Dream and were in room 7194. Before leaving so many different reports on the aft rooms were posted that I had no idea what to expect. Truthfully, I almost changed the room 10 times because the reports of vibrations and movement scared me. But the lure of the awesome balcony made me stick with it and I am so glad I did! The room is a standard size room. If we would not have had the veranda, I would have spent zero time in the room because it was easy to feel crowded with two six year olds jumping around all over the place and my husband and myself. However, the verandah is enormous. It is about three times the depth of the regular verandas. We had pre-breakfast fruit and coffee out there a number of times and I tried to spend as much time out there as possible. We also watched the pirate night fireworks with no problem from there (even though the CM told me it would not be visible from there).
Insofar as movement, I was looking out for it. Really, I was. However, I only felt the vibrations once. Backing into Port Canaveral. They were very bad then. I imagine if I had felt that the whole cruise, I would have had trouble sleeping too. The vibrations themselves weren't the problem, more so it was the noise everything else made. Like the doors to the bathrooms would rattle and the hangers (which by then were empty since I had packed up already) did rattle. So, I put kleenex in the door jams where the door knob meets the doors to stop the noise. I also took the hangers down. My kids and husband, by the way, slept right though this. I might have as well, if it were not that I had been up since 5 and had gone running.
I was up the other mornings as we docked as well and really never felt anything that annoyed me in any way. In fact, we are booking Alaska next year and I am looking for a similar aft cabin. I loved the fact that we had a view of both sides of the ship, the deeper balconies really made a difference in my trip and it was QUIET - no noise. This was also a connecting room and we had a family with small kids next to us - I don't see what the big deal is with this. We heard nothing throughout the trip either.
Maybe we just had really good luck or maybe we are not as sensitive as other people, but I just thought I would throw my two cents in here about this room - It is fantastic and we did not experience any of the negative issues some others here seemed to have experienced. So, if you are booked here, I would recommend you stick with it and see how it goes for you. If you feel something uncomfortable, they will more than likely make arrangements for you to change rooms - Have fun!!
