Hello everyone! I’ve gone to Disney in October and this November. I’d have to say that the 2nd week of November was way busier than 2nd week October. How are the crowds usually 2nd week of July? Is July really as miserable (weather wise) as they say?

This past summer I felt like I kept seeing downpours.. is it usually like this in July or is it more August? I know we all don’t have a crystal ball, just hoping to hear experiences.

My husband said we can’t afford Disney every year, but I’m hoping to entice him with the cheaper July prices lol! Please let me know your thoughts and/or experiences for the summer. TIA!

I have to agree - the humidity makes the heat feel so much worse, even after sundown. And an afternoon thunderstorm is to be expected, although they don't usually last very long. So the crowds in the summer are gradually becoming less and less, as the crowds in the fall increase because the weather is so much better.

As others have already said, it will be extremely hot and humid. It's doable, but you MUST be prepared.

  • Drink water like it's your only job - never be without it. We had refillable water bottles never let them get empty.
  • Cooling towels really do work - we would dampen and put in the fridge overnight and the coolness stayed pretty long, but even if you re-wet in the restroom with warmish water, they still provide great relief
  • Be prepared to duck under cover when the rain DOES come - it rarely lasts long, but can hit fast and HARD.
  • Hit the parks early before the sun hits it's high point, then take a break. Go back to your room, nap and cool off, or go for a swim. Head back to the parks after 4pm as the angle of the sun is lowering. It's easier to get done what you want to get done by taking that break and recharging.
  • Sunscreen - don't miss this step.
  • Drink water like it's your only job.

July is brutally hot. We did this last year--lured by the good prices at the resorts--and I was able to handle it but my sister couldn't. So, it depends on the person.

The thing that helped me the most was a UV umbrella. The cooling towels did nada for me. And staying away from the parks most of the afternoon.

Disney is SO hot in July/August you likely won't be able to walk all those miles at a park like you would other times of the year. It won't be much of a bargain if you can only do a park for a few hours and then spend the rest of the day indoors at your hotel since everyone is exhausted and doesn't feel like doing anything else. There is a reason that time of year tends to have fewer visitors.

As others have said July is hotter than the 7th level of Hades and it is going to rain every day. It might just be a quick 10 min. afternoon shower, it might be a 30 minute gully washer or it might be an all day on and off. It really depends on your tolerance for heat and your ability to deal with rain. If you are prepared none of it and undoable but you have to use the tips and tricks mentioned. I always carry an insulated bottle of water, even in the winter. In the summer I put some sort of liquid IV in it to help. I duck into shops as often as I can just to be out of the sun and I always take afternoon breaks. I take breaks in the winter as well so that is not just a summer thing. I never go to the parks without some sort of rain gear, even in those months when it's not supposed to rain. It's Florida, you just never know. I just put on my rain gear and go about my business, people tend to clear out when it's raining so it's not so busy. I've been going to WDW for over 40 years and have been every month of the year and I think in all that time I may have had two trips without at least one rain shower.
