Thoughts about August 2012???

5. It is almost peak of Hurricane Season with high possibilities for either Tropical Storms or Hurricanes (instead of just thunderstorms and rain).

EXACTLY-and I love AUG!!!
Take a break mid-day and enjoy the resort pool/poolbar!!! The parks will be open late at night so there is plenty of park-time to get your FUN in

Hey fellower Michigander here! We are looking forward to our upcoming August trip. Our first trip was in August & everyone was telling us it was a bad idea. We were happy for the fewer crouds and Disney AC is always on MAX!
1. Neck bead handcercheifs are sold at REI and are a life saver.
2. Frozen water bottles throughout the day on pressure points
3. TS restaurants
4. REST
5. Go to the water parks and pool
6. Be prepared for random rainstorms they usually last about 10-15 minutes
7. HAVE FUN

I am looking for the cooling beads on REI's website and can't find them. Can you tell me the exact name? I also tried a google search but only came up with handkerchiefs (which won't work for our family).

We wore the neck coolers too. I found them to be life savers. I'm sure my preteens will be too cool to wear them on our upcoming trip.

Kelsey- They are called Kafka's Kool Tie. I will be using it this August because I didn't sweat at all when we ran the WDW half marathon. It will shrink back down to go back in your suitcase and I suggest that you bring a baggy in case it is still damp. Also if you hang it up the night before you leave it will be pretty dried out by morning. We tie mine on the rack in the closet the night before we leave. Hope that helps!

We are booked for our first Disney Vacation August 21-28 and are really looking forward to it. I have been to Florida in August before, and as mentioned, staying hydrated is key to keeping cool. We plan to take afternoon breaks each day, and maybe a couple of days at the water parks to keep cool. Can't wait.

good to know that August isnt so bad after all, we will be cruising on the fantasy august 18 to the 25 then planning on some time after the cruise to do the parks. Never been in august so was a little worried about crowd levels mostly, but from what I have just read it seems other then the heat its a good time to go. Fingers crossed for good weather all the way around!

Another Michigander going in August! We're going 18-25. Have been in August before so I know what to expect but this is first trip with kids. Planning on taking advantage of AM EMH hours to get a lot done in the mornings and early afternoon. How are waits for longer MK attractions like HOP, CBJ, and COP in mid afternoon? We are not getting park hoppers so we'll have to make do with one park per day and I was hoping to take advantage of a TS lunch, some shopping, and these attractions to pass the heat and crowds of the afternoon.

We have gone the last two Augusts. The second time we went Aug 16-21 and it poured rain part of almost every day. We found this week very busy comparerd to the previous year a week earlier. Not sure why. Maybe the economy was worse in 2010? It is very hot this time of year but I don't mind the heat. You can always jump in the pool in the hot afternoon if it gets too bad.

We will be there from the 17th until the 25th. We love the last weeks in Aug since schools down there are back in session and schools here in jersey don't go back until Labor Day.

Yes it is hot and humid but it is hot and humid here in jersey so what difference does it make.

I really enjoyed going the last week of August, the only downside was our trip got an extra two days added on because a hurricane hit our hometown so hurricane possibilities are the only real downside to August. Also it was very bright when we were at the water parks, Im not sure if that is just Florida or not for ya

We will be at all star music for 2 weeks from the 20th-september 2nd! This is the 4th year we will be there in August. It will be hot but if you plan well it will be a great vacation....Use early and late magic hours and go back to your room for rests during the hot afternoons.
