My bil found a tick on his arm today.....make sure you get some sort of tick repeller because we dont want our pets to get lyme disease....or anything else for that matter.....

Because of our warm winter this year....ticks are already out

thawing ground, hahahahaha!

we still have at least a foot of snow on the ground, and more in some places:sad2:

not looking forward to ticks though,
uggh,
do you all use frontline? that is what we have been using here

Yes to frontline but didnt want it to sound like I was promoting a product.....We live in Maine and who would think that ....February and early March having to deal with those icky things

:lmao: Did you enjoy this weekend's thaw, and the forecast for snow on Tuesday

My dog was diagnosed with lyme disease a few years back-and just recently a low positive for heartworm..the worst part about it is that the vet office told us not to give him heartworm med. when he was diagnosed with lyme-I guess b/c of the treatment & now not sure what we are going to be dealing with....

Even if your pet doesn't go outside, you should treat them with a tick repellent. My cat is strictly indoors and he is treated. The ticks come into the house on your clothes and then can get onto your pet. Especially when you are doing the spring yard clean up. Although it will be a while before I have to worry - still a foot of snow on the ground around my house!

I prefer to spray my yard instead of my pets. I spray the stuff 2-3 times a year and walk the dog the day of the spraying. We don't have low lying plants in the back so I think we're ok with that. I worry about the neurotoxins in the stuff that goes onto the pets not only for their sakes but they sit on our furniture etc and considering DS's Asthma, I take no chances.

Also, isn't there a Lyme Disease vaccine? I think my pets get it, or have in the past.
