Those using swagbucks ???

Anyone trying to run nCraves on Discovery Mode and going back to check to find it didn't move thru the video list at all --- even tho the green check mark is still in the Discovery Mode box?
This is a first for me and I run nCraves every day that it's available.

The "performance" one always does that for me. I never run that one. I will just do a one point one to make the other auto ncraves show up again.

This *just* happened to me, too. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I don't have a smart phone and my tablet can't do flash, so I don't do any of the SB apps. I do all of my earning on my laptop. I usually try to run more than one watch list at a time, but it slows my computer down, so it probably doesn't accomplish what I want it to. I'm better off doing one video at a time. I do other things while the video is running. I do my 10 SB from games. I do searches now & then to try for SB. My main source of SB is offers & surveys.

Yesterday was a low SB day for me, as I was gone from home quite a bit. I'm normally home a lot, as I'm a "sometimes-at-home" homeschooling mom (home more often now that it's freezing outside & I want to earn more SB!). My kids are old enough now that I can direct/facilitate their learning rather than having to actively teach.

OK so I'm ready to order my first gift card today, what do I need to do? Is it digital? Does it come in the mail?
It's an e-card, but from what I understand, some of them can be printed out and taken in to the store. Don't quote me on that, as I've never done it. I've just read about it. Until recently, I've only redeemed for Amazon cards. Now I'm doing Paypal $25 at a time. I might eventually go the Target/Redcard/Disney route.

I'm doing the Target-Disney route, this is how I'm paying for my meals in November. I can do e-cards, that seems easy enough. Hopefully I can tack on a Disney gift card to a pick up in store order.

All of the SB GCs rewards are digital.

Once you place your order, you will need to confirm it. SB will send an email to you and you need to click on the link they provide. That will confirm the order.

Then, you sit back and wait for another email that alerts you to the fact that your GC is available. Click on the link in that email mail and enter your password to claim your GC. That will take you to a page with the GC number and any PIN number that the GC may have.

Depending on the merchant, you either print the GC out or you can enter the GC info into your app for the company. You can use the GC online for some companies and/or in person at the store.

You can't order a Disney GC online for store pick up on the website. But don't worry! You can still enter the Target GC into the Target app on your phone or print out the GC page and take it to your local Target to purchase a Disney GC there.

Oh good!!! I'm wary about ordering gift cards online. I've heard horror stories about them not being activated. I like tangible paper trails if there is an issue.

I only redeem for Target & Paypal through Swagbucks.

My advice is to make sure you've saved up enough for a $25 Target card, since Swagbucks runs a special deal where the first $25 gift card you request each month (that isn't a Visa or Paypal) is only 2200 SB - or basically 12% off. It's only for the $25 denomination, though, so if you're a little short, best to keep trying to hit that 2200 mark. If you're making enough to cash out additional $25 cards each month, then go for Paypal.

I've never had a problem with redemption from Swagbucks not being activated. However, it can be annoying to have to wait 5 or 6 days for your email to be "delivered" with the link to claim your reward.

OT: You sound a lot like me. Isn't it wonderful when your kiddos can basically teach themselves?!? I have two littles still that I am actively teaching but my middle and highschooler just need me to guide a little. We are on-the-go a lot though with activities so I get very few SB's.

.

There is another way to immediately verify your order by entering a secret code that you set up. I never wait for an e-mail to confirm.

I've started doing that also. A while back, the emails from SB started not working for me. The button in the email that I receive doesn't work anymore. I don't know what the problem is. I've contacted them about it, but they're clueless. What I was doing for a while was looking in the email's source code, finding the link, copying it, and pasting it in a new tab/window. But now I just use the secret question/code verification method instead. It's much faster anyway.

Lifescript/Quality Health...

I've decided it's more prudent to delete this. If you have questions about LS/QH, pm me.

I've never had lifescript credit. I guess they already have my information from trying before; but I no longer try.

I'm not a tax expert, but I would believe that yes, it is taxable income.

That said, Swagbucks is only required to send a 1099 once you've earned at least $600 in a year. Do with that what you will.

You are right, the form would be a 1099-Misc. I have never made enough to know, but I have heard others say SB does not send them out. However, other earning sites, like Perk and Viggle, do send them if you go over $600. They will send a form asking for your SS# so they can send you the tax form.

My understanding is that Swagbucks does not send them out because of the variety of ways you could earn. SB's you earn from shopping should not be taxable (as far as I know) as they are considered rebates. SBs you earn from the apps, searching etc would be taxable.

I think I stumbled upon the answer to this today. I do the taxes for the small non-profit I work for. Today I did the 1099s. Quickbooks had this prompt:

"The IRS requires you to exclude from Form 1099-MISC any payments you make by credit card, debit card, gift card or PayPal."
further:
"If you made payments to vendors by debit card, gift card or PayPal ....edit the check number field to include an appropriate notation so QuickBooks can exclude these payments from Form 1099-MISC."

Edited to add: I'm no tax expert, not by a long shot. My job title is Marketing Coordinator, but when you work for a not-for-profit, responsibilities overlap. I would not give tax advice but when I saw the above in Quickbooks today it made me think of the discussion on this thread. I did some further digging and found this: "Beginning with tax year 2011, the IRS requires you to exclude from Form 1099-MISC any payments you made to a 1099 vendor by credit card, debit card, gift card, or a third-party payment network such as PayPal. (For the purposes of these instructions, we'll call these types of payments nonreportable payments.) Instead, these payments are reported by the card issuers and the third-party payment networks on Form 1099-K."

Are you getting the 300 swag buck discount on your Target gift card? I usually wait till the first of the month when they are discounted for your first swag buck redemption. Save yourself 300 swag bucks for the next go round.

I had really good luck yesterday with surveys. I earned 530+ SB yesterday, then did the WWF (world wildlife fund) offer where you sponsor a penguin for $9 (monthly, but you can cancel) and get 1500 SB, so it's a $6 profit. I paid with PayPal, and it wasn't quite clear if they'd automatically charge beginning with the 2nd month, and I couldn't find anywhere in PayPal to indicate that an automatic payment was set up. I will have to keep watching it. Also, when you're doing the donation, you can opt to receive a free gift package that includes a stuffed penguin.
I disagree with do the WWF and canceling. You are costing the charity money when you do this. They are paying Swagbucks more than the $15 that swagbucks is paying you. WWF is expecting to get that $100 you pledged and are paying $20 to $25 for that promised revenue.
