Those of us going in 09

I'm glad I found this thread, I was wondering when we could book for 09. We had a trip planned for this June (the week that just passed was our Dis week ) but we got hit with a few financial curve balls that forced us to cancel. I'm seriously going crazy not being able to go to WDW this year, so we're planning on taking a nice 10 day vacation there next year to make up for it. Time to start counting down to August to book our package for May 09 lol.

I was wondering for those of who have been traveling to Disney World over the years, how much do the rates on resorts and park tickets as well generally increase each year on average?

I was going to ask in a new post but I think I can get my answer here.

We want to book a room for late July 09. So if I am correct, I can call Disney and reserve it now. They will quote me the peak rates, but once the rates are released (late August according to this post), the rates will be adjusted to the correct "rate season". Am I correct so far?

Then when I do get those rates, can I then tell them I am a member of AAA and they will quote me the discounted rates? We want to book as soon as possible and I don't think AAA can quote us this far out. Am I correct here as well?

You are correct. A room only reservation can be made now, actually 499 days in advance. You wil pay a one night deposit based on the 2008 peak rate for the resort. Then when the real rates are released, and the AAA discounts are released you can call and have the AAA discount applied. You should probably try to call as soon as you know the AAA rates have been released, since there is a limit on rooms that can have the discount, and so you don't want to miss out.

As soon as I hear that the 2009 rates are released, I plan on calling to see if the AAA rates are also out. In 2006 I also made my reservation ahead of the rates being released. When I heard that the rates were out, I called about the AAA rates and the CM thought that they were not out yet. I asked them to check and they did have the rates.
I would think that this year the AAA rates should be out at about the same time as the regular rates.

I spoke with a CM online last week and if I remember, she told me it would be LATE August. Which is kiiilling me. I'm trying to plan a January trip. I mean, you can always make reservations based on this years prices but I really like to try to find the best deal so I don't want to book anything until I see the hard numbers. We are doing Disney on an cheap-as-possible basis. Plus I'm still working on my BF! I'm still trying to convince him it's not just for kids.

I am planning a January trip also for DH birthday and I have to seriously budget because it is a surprise so I understand the cheap aspect.

How sweet My BF's birthday is also in January I wish we could have been there for it but classes start the next day I ordered Disney on a Dime from Amazon and I can't wait for it to get here!!! I think I paid less than $8 with S&H! I just wish they could give us a tentative date for the release of the prices, don't they know how anxious I am lol
