Position Description: In Fall 2006, the Petroleum Institute will admit female students for the first time to two new facilities constructed solely for this purpose; one of the facilities is on the existing campus in Abu Dhabi while the other is in Madinat Zayed, about 150 km (100 miles) southwest of Abu Dhabi. The Madinat Zayed campus is for female students only. Consistent with current cultural norms in Abu Dhabi Emirate, female students will be segregated from male students in all aspects of the program. The Petroleum Institute invites applications for the position of Director of Womens Campuses and Programs. This position will be responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership to all aspects of the programs on both campuses. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Womens Campuses and Programs will work closely with other directors at the PI; as a senior member of the Executive Management team, the Director will provide essential leadership in the operation and administration of the entire Institute.
Qualifications: A doctorate in education or a related field, or in engineering, is required. The position requires experience and understanding of US-style undergraduate education. Consequently, the successful applicant will have significant senior-level experience in a college or university setting in Academic Affairs or Student Affairs, or as an academic dean. Experience working with female students, and particularly first-year students, is essential, and experience in the Middle East is desirable. As a senior member of the Executive Management of the Institute, experience and potential leadership in areas of importance to the development of the Institute, such as administrative planning, accreditation, assessment, portfolio development, student academic success, writing across the curriculum, and teaching effectiveness, are also very desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated experience with PC applications software; superior organizational skills; and the ability to initiate, plan and implement major projects to their successful completion.
Salary/Benefits: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package, including housing and furniture allowance, educational allowance for dependent children, annual air passages, 42 days of annual vacation (plus national holidays) and medical care. The UAE levies no income taxes.

The Institute offers undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Petroleum Geosciences Engineering.
