Diznotyzed said:As someone who has had the pleasure of being chosen to be Grand Marshal of the MK afternoon parade, I can say that being selected was very low key. It really was just a right-place-at-the-right-time kind of thing that could have happened to anyone. Even though there were lots of people around, nobody else really knew what was happening and therefore there was nothing to complain or act up about. I would think that other dream "bestowing" could be handled as diplomatically.
As another Grand Marshal, I totally agree. We have had a lot of other unexpected surprises over the years. Sitting on the curb, freezing: A cm walked up and handed us Hot Chocolate. Asking to look at a CM's Pins: ended up getting a coupon for lunch on them. Turning in a lost Seasonal Pass: getting coupon for popcorn and pop during Spectromagic. CM giving us pixie dust and having us turn out the lights for Spectromagic. Dapper Dans asking us to sing with them. My son who visits from out of state is always amazed at the things people "give" to us. I get numerous special "dreams" every day I spend in the MK.
One of my favorite Main Street characters once said you get from the park, what you bring to the park. Bring you smile and happiness and you will get it back whether there is a contest or not.
