Okay, so for my government class we were assigned to pick a side on a controversial topic from a list provided and then present it or write about our position. I picked abortion, as I have a strong opinion on it, and I realized that I am the ONLY one in my class who is pro-life. Every single other student and teacher are pro-choice.

So I gave my presentation in a more unqiue way than just "this is what abortion is and this is what I think...blah blah blah". I got creative. lol...and at some parts, sarcastic...painfully sarcastic lol. Anywho, I stated my opinion and I did so by providing a lot of back-up info and I really supported my point. Now, if I do say so myself, I had some pretty good points rofl.

Okay, so I finished my presentation and no one spoke against me. They all sat there whispering to each other what they didn't agree with in my presentation. Okay...people ARE going to disagree with it considering I am the ONLY one on the side I chose. Yet they sat there...murming to the kid in front or behind them. I was surprised that not one person spoke out against me after what I said...after the things I said, the sarcasm in my comments against pro-choice (though I stayed respectful.)

I guess it just surprised me that people didn't argue this for the class, but rather secretly to each an other.

Would you guys just sit there? Or would you speak out? Honest answers lol. Would you let your opinions unheard?

If I was in your class, and I ended up whispering, I totally would have said something. If a fact or an opinion of yours really stood out in my mind, I would have said something. "I might not agree with what you said, but that is a strong point to prove."

Yeah. Something like that.

I'm prolife. So I wouldn't have disagreed with you, but I'm totally comfortable telling someone that I think they're wrong.

I would of most definitely made a comment, as you all know. ;) If I disagreed with someone then I would of made an arguement. I like a good solid debate.

Probably not. I'm prochoice, so I would have let some of the other people comment. :p

I would have probably gone against you if you didnt have enough points that sounded good enough to me.
But hey, thats just how I am.
& are you against abortion or with it? :confused3

I am pro-life, so I am against abortion. I think it should be illegal.

See now I guess I really don't know whether or not I am prolife, or prochoice. I do think I may be moreso prolife. I mean I guess in all reality would I have personaly spoken up? I would guess it depends on how comfortable I was in that class, andwith those people. In a few of my classes I am very outspoken and participate alot, but in others that are moreso filled with the popular smart people who think there great I'm not as outspoken.

IMO, abortion should be illegal. I feel the same way with stem cells, or at least the ones with the embryo. IMO, again, embryos are babies. :)

I probably would of spoken out if I was there, i'm pro-choice btw. I guess I would be able to answer this question better if I was actually there and heard what u said.

You do know that the embryos they want to use are the ones that will be disposed of and not used for human life anyway right? So why not try to save living people with embryos that won't be used to create humans anyway?

Well, it depends on the situation.
I would just blurt something out.
I'd raise my hand, and simply state my opinion, and not try to completely bring the other person down.

I'm not totally sure what goes into stem cell research, so I'm not forming an opinion on that yet.

I'm against abortion.

But you have to realize, it will never be illegal. When it was, women were still getting them. Women were doing it with a coat hanger in their womb and on a fold up table in a back alley for fifty dollars. The scene in Dirty Dancing isn't far from the truth. children were born horribly mutated, they were born mangled and hurt, they lived lives of pain. And then the mother suffers too. You can't have a dead body inside you.

I'm against abortion, but I'd rather it be legal than not. Because when its not legal, the above happens.

Flame if you wish, but I stand by my point.

I could never have an abortion.

I think my opinion about abortion should be illegal.
I'm for it, but for certain reasons.

For example, if a woman ended up pregnant after being raped.

However, I myself could never have an abortion.

Thats the one part that makes me think twice about it, because I don't know how someone could go through 9 months of prgancy knowing shes carring the baby of a man you raped her. Even if you're egiving it up for adoption, thats a pretty big emotional toll to take.

I'm notorious for speaking out on controversial issues in class. Last year in civics, we were debating on wether or not politicians should be allowed to spend more money campaigning. Personally, I think that they spend too much, not to mention, a big protion of it goes to pointless tv ads that do nothing but attack the other side.

But anywho, I was sitting there at my desk. This one group comes up and basically, their whole arguement was, "we think that they should be able to spend more so they can be more creative."

...

It was obvious that they had no idea what they were talking about, and was wasting everybody's time. I decided to give them hell. I raise my hand when question time comes around, and said this. I reminded them of their "to be more creative" comment, and asked them if they think that you can't be creative with $300 Million dollars. (the combined totals of Bush's and Kerry's campaigns)

I loved their reaction. Silence. It sat like that for a second or two, until someone sitting somewhere started a class...."ohhhhhhhhhhhhh". (as in "he got you there")

I would have said something. I always speak my mind, even when I might be wrong.

I am pro-choice. With all due respect, I truly believe that it is not anybody's place to say abortion should be illegal if they have not been in a position where it might be an option to consider. Circumstances are everything. A 13 year old, 70 pound girl became pregnant from a rape, and was told she would die if she was to have the baby. What would you do in a situation like that? You don't know, if you have never faced that problem.

In my opinion, you can't force a woman to have a baby, it's not anybody else's uterus but her own and whether or not she chooses to give birth to a child is her decision. Your body is your own temple.

I am not pro-abortion, I am pro-choice. I would never take away an option that might be the right decision. I personally, would not choose abortion, but other women might, and I think that that's their own call. Every woman is different, and I think deserves her say in what happens to her body. I don't mean offence to anyone here; I respect your opinions.
