We will be arriving on Sunday morning, renting a van, staying at Treehouses. I am a planner and have booked fastpasses and such....I have just never put any thought into the events going on because I generally just go with the flow. I am now reading about a marathon this weekend and the end of the Food and Wine Festival. We picked this week based on a culmination of everyone's work schedules. I am fine with the marathon, we like to go during the marathon in January because of lower crowds.
I am pumped about the Food and Wine. I have never been and am excited to try some new stuff, however it appears there will be festivities for the runners and am sure it is going to be packed. Anyone have any insight?
Also it is my understanding that the marathon is just Saturday...is this correct? Should I anticipate any problems driving to Epcot around noon-ish?? TIA

According to the Run Disney website, it looks like all the race festivities will be over before you arrive on Sunday. Keep in mind that the festival may still be extremely crowded. We were in Epcot last year on the weekend of the Tower of Terror 10 miler and it was wall to wall people for the F&W festival. I would still plan to go, just with a realistic expectation that it won't be dead just because the race is done. Enjoy- I think you'll really love F&W!!

The half-marathon begins at 10:00 p.m. Saturday night - and ends with a post race party into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

I think the days preceeding your arrival day will be crazy-crowded. Note that Monday (the day after you arrive) I believe is the last day of Food & Wine Festival.

Enjoy your stay . . . hope you have a perfect week!
