long story. heres the short of it.

went on united.ca and bought tickets from seattle to orlando.

quoted in canadian dollars. paid on a canadian visa card (go vancity) to a canadian billing address. receipt says canadian dollars.

visa bill comes and BANG....my 8 one way tickets at $254 cad each are now $263.68 cad.

called united. they play dumb. (they do that well!) and pass me on to what feels like 1 million people to 'help' me. the final person says....i will not pass you on to my manager/supervisor, she will just say the same thing i am saying. that i was charged and billed $254 cad...not usd. and not $263

so i call vancity. ok, dh does becuase at this point i am LOSING It.:headache: :headache:

vancity says nope, the charge came thru as $254 usd so it was converted to cad and came out $263.:worship:

HEEELLLLLOOOOOOO. i have a receipt from united.ca that says I was charged in cad money....not usd money.

vancity says i have to fax copies, write a letter, and blah blah blah...and then they fix it. we want the whole thing cancelled. i don't know who to trust. who to blame?

not alot of money I know. but times that by 8 tickets....its alot to my family.

and the point.

Ahhh...problems with united.ca - I know them well.

I booked a ticket on United.ca, but owing to a glitch in their system, it double billed me. The charge wouldn't go through on their site and a message said to phone them to complete the order. I did and suddenly I had two tickets. When I called back (within about 10 minutes) to fix this, the agent said that it was now fixed and sent me another copy of the itinerary. Still should 2 tickets. After 3 rounds of this, I told them to cancel both tickets.

A few days later - I checked my cc statement and I was charged for 2 sets of tickets!! I called again and after ALOT of struggle, I finally got them to cancel the tickets (which I had already canceled). A few days later, my CC statement did show the refund, but not the full amount. After some digging I figured it out - I had paid in CDN dollars (let's say it was $300 each). I was refunded in CDN dollars, but in the amount that the tickets would have cost is USD (so, I got about $280 CDN). Again not a huge amount, but it took another LONG telephone struggle to get back the difference.

This was all united.ca's fault, since there was no converting - they submitted to my CC in Canadian funds.

I feel your pain.

Snap:scared1: We used our cc travel points to book for flights on United last week. Hope everything goes ok:confused:

You will only be allowed be one (1) checked bag at 50 lbs, and United will charge you $25.00 for each of your second bags. So those costs will add up too.

They recently changed their policy on US Domestic flights.

Yes we saw that! We saved more than 50% on flights at Christmas with United so we will travel light!
