I don't know - Doesn't seem all that great to me.

The tickets for 2 adults for 4 days would be about $470. With only 4 nights, chances are good you won't use any of the plus options. So, you're paying about $73 a night for Pop Century.

Eh - It's OK. Without the AP, the discounts on resort rooms aren't that great.

We will be going to PI, as well as like to hop, what else are the options per say good for?

Thanks

Water Parks, DisneyQuest, and Pleasure Island - and Wide World of Sports complex.

Thats the best deal you are going to get right now, unless you were a Florida Resident or AP holder.

Michael

It's a good enough deal - you're getting the park hopping and plus features for free, and your room comes out to about $70/night including taxes. Not bad at all.

I think that's a pretty good deal.

A few things to think about with respect to the MYW ticket portion. If you keep it a 4-day, even if you use none of your pluses, it would cost only $30 to upgrade both tickets to never expire. If you are every planning to go back, $30 is a pretty good price to preserve those plusses.

You might also consider going with the 6-day ticket, since the extra cost is so little. It costs $11 each to get the 6-day ticket instead of the 4-day. If you absolutely know you are not going to go to the parks for more than 4 days, then of course, it's just wasted money. Although one thing to keep in mind is that the plusses increase from 3 to 4 when you go from a 5-day to a 6-day MYW ticket. So if you knew you wanted to use 4 plusses, then upgrading to a 6-day pass (since the plusses are free) basically gets you the 4th plus for $11, even if you don't use the extra 2 days in the parks.

I think the beauty of these MYW tickets is how little the cost increases to add extra days if you aren't buying the "no expire" option. Where this can pay off is if you want to just go into a park one day just for a little bit -- when it only costs $5 to add a day, you have no guilt just going to Ecpot for Illuminations or to eat at one of the Epcot restaurants, etc.

Don't look at it as getting them for free. If you do that, then you're looking at $90 a night for Pop.

Eh?

Quoted price $762.26

2 adult 4-day MYW Base tickets = $197.03 x 2 = $394.06

Cost of room = quoted price - ticket cost = $762.26 - $394.06 = $368.20

5 nights resort stay

$368.20 total resort cost / 5 nights = $73.64

Which is $64 per night plus tax......

Boomhauer's right - I went back and redid my math, and apparently I made a mistake. In this case, it's not quite as good a deal as I thought. Have you tried for the package with the free park hopping, plus features, and discounted rooms?

My bad - I thought it was 4 nights.

Ok, so I guess I was right the first time and Boomhauer and I then proceeded to make the very same mistake. :rolleyes1 I don't know whether to be embarassed or say I told you so! :rotfl:

See, what confuses me is, why would they offer you 4 day tickets, if you're staying for 5 nights? :confused3 If anything, they would offer you a 6 day ticket.

That being said, $73 a night with tax is pretty good. However, it seems as though where they MAY end up getting you is if you want to add on a day or 2 to your pass. If you do that, you're talking about an additional $100 (or so) between 2 people, which then boosts the costs of the room per night up to $93. Will you really want to go to a water park in January and utilize the plus option?

Not trying to be a bummer - Just letting you know what it sounds like. Pop's a nice resort, but it's not the type of place you'll want to stay at all day (at least not in January.) Probably won't wanna hang out at the pool.

The OP probably chose 4-day tickets.

The OP said they wanted to go to Pleasure Island....

The difference between the 4-day and 6-day base tickets is $11.71 per ticket........and this would NOT change the room rate......

Michael

Just to show the math again, here it is for 6 days of tickets, fyi, this is the latest discount offer, that is what the OP had used also.

Disney's Pop Century Resort
Package Total: $785.72

Arriving on 01/08/06 for 5 nights 2 Adults
Room Type: Standard View Room
Special Rate Type: Special Offer Magic Your Way With Ticket Option
Ticket Type: 6-Day Magic Your Way with Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More options

6-day Base tickets cost $208.74 x 2 = $417.48

$785.72 - $417.48 = $368.24........

$368.24 / 5 nights = $73.65 per night........

They said it was a package deal. Not certain, but I would think that Disney would not give free park hoppers on tickets extended outside the package deal.

Obviously, if the ticket increase was only $12 per person, it wouldn't make a big difference. But dividing it up, it still bumps the room price up to $77 a night.

I missed where they said they were going to PI, but yeah, that makes up for it a bit. I always just try and look at what the cost for the room would be, minus theme park tickets, as that's the main cost to figure in.

If they were going for 6 day tickets, wouldn't that $785.72 go up to $809.14?

So wouldn't it be $809.14 - $417.48 = $391.66

$391.66/5 nights = $78.33 per night

Again, this is assuming the package deal is only for 4 days of tickets. If it is in fact for a 6 day ticket, then your figures would be correct.

Boomhauer - I would love to see the math showing the room cost going up because you increased your tickets...

They could go for 5 nights and still get 10 day base tickets with all of the options with this deal - I just did it....and the room rate would still be $73 per night.....

No, the $785.72 was the new quote with 6 days figured in - the OP's quote was $762.26 with 4 days of tickets....a difference of $23.46, or $11.73 per ticket...

Actually, we're both wrong.

Total cost of package is $762.26.

Each MYW plus w/park hopper for 4 days would be $244.95 x2 = $489.90.

$762.26 - $489.90 = $272.36/5 nights = $54.47 per night.

That's a VERY good deal.

You can get tickets of any length with the current MYW package deal being offered by WDW. As long as you meet the minimum nights on the package -- 3 nights -- you can structure the package to include anything from a 1 to 10 day MYW ticket. If you think about it, that makes sense, since what they are giving you free with the ticket is the plusses and the hopping, and those have a fixed value of, respectively, $45 and $35 whether the ticket is 1 day or 10 days or anything in between.

The price of the ticket is entirely separate from the cost of the room. In other words, changing the length of the ticket does not do anything to the room rate. If you change the length of ticket from 4 days to 6 days, the extra cost is $11 plus tax per ticket, and that is exactly how much the package will go up.

Much of the debate in this thread for figuring out the "cost" of the room turns on whether you incorporate the savings on the ticket or you don't.

I think the most pristine way to look at the cost of these packages, is to view them as saving you (1) $80 per MYW ticket, and (2) the cost of the room. To attribute the $80 savings on the ticket to the room is not a good way to do it, because one size does not fit all. We know that the OP plans to use at least some of the plusses, but that might be misleading to others who are not or who don't need hopping.

It all depends on what you WOULD HAVE bought if you did not do the package. If you wouldn't have bought hopping or you wouldn't have bought plusses, it's wrong to attribute the, respectively $35 or $45 per ticket to to the plusses. Similarly, if you only plan to visit PI once, and you would have paid cash, it changes the calculation.

The best way to look at the new MYW packages is that they are approximately 10 percent off rack for the room, plus free plusses and hopping, which could have different value to different people.
