if you are not staying onsite, are you able to take the boats to resort hop to tour the resorts? or even to eat at the different restaurants in the Hotels? We are AP holders & have been wanting to do this but felt leary incase the boat people will turn us away since we wont have resort passes.

I'm pretty sure you will be ok.
When I booked the Royal Pacific, the woman on the phone was telling me how because I was an "on site" guest that I was allowed to pool hop from one hotel to another.
You will have to take the boats from citywalk to the hotels, ( or walk if you are up to it!) but you should not encounter any problems.
Also, in regards to the resturants, I know people that have not even been guests of *any* of the hotels that ate at the resturants, so no problems there either!

I have taken the boats to the different resorts even when I was not a guest at any of the on-site hotels. I have never had a problem doing this.

Yes, the boats are open to anyone, free of charge. In fact, I asked the captain last time I was there and he said UO encourages it so people can see how beautiful their resorts are.
As for the restaurants, anyone can eat there. Some do get kind of crowded, so advance reservations are a good idea. I would definitely suggest reservations for Tchoup Chop, Mama Dellas, and Delfino Riviera. I always eat at Mama's when in Orlando, even if only for one evening.

Yes, you are free to ride the boats and visit the resorts as you please. A word of warning, though, when there is a long line for the boats, they tend to reserve seating for hotel guests only. In those cases, your still free to walk to the hotels.

To demostrate the accessibility, one time, while not a guest of any of the three resorts, I was able to sneak over to the Portofino and take a dip in their pool. It was a hot day, and I was wearing my swim trunks for the water rides, but their waits were too long.

Considering that there are two multi million dollar high tech theme parks on property, Universal doesn't worry too much about people leaving them to use their hotel pools, so it is very simple operation to accomplish.

thanks everyone. We are going May 21-25 for the AP Mummy event & also Emeril's Live taping. I was thinking Monday morning after standing in line for Emeril's taping tickets (which hopefully we will be able to get) would be a good time to tour the resorts

I'll be there from 5/21-5/26, staying at Portofino. Make sure you come over to PBH and check out the Beach pool and the Gelateria. The Gelateria has wonderful desserts! Also, for lunch, Sal's Market Deli has great brick-oven pizza.

I second that for the brick oven pizzas at Sal's. They are tasty! Don't worry. You can ride the water taxis to the hotels. No one checks IDs. They do check for hotel room keys at HRH pool when you get towels. They have everyone in the pool area wear a wristband.

It's fun to do and the resorts are gorgeous! The only downside is that you will be depressed, because you are not staying at any of them.

To DocBosch: I find what you said discomforting to people like myself who are paying a tidy fee to stay at an on-site hotel. The fact that outsiders can just wear their bathing trunks over and take dips in the pools seems rather unfair. If we're paying for that privilege, why would we want all these people who are too hot to wait in line for a water ride to come over to the hotel for their cooling off period!

If that's the case, then you should get a room there for the convenience and privilege.

Hi Kevin, nice to see you again. Have to admit I'm surprised you managed to have a dip in the pool. I know at the HRH they do seem to be very astute as to who is using the pool, that's why I asked a question recently about eating at one of the on-site restaurants (if you are not a guest) and being able to have a drink at the beachbar prior to the meal and possibly afterwards or if you are politely "shown the door!" It does seem that the RPR is more lenient and now the expensive PB. Do you think it's because you were on your own? I imagine you wouldn't be able to with your partner and kids - or would you?....but then like invaderzim just said, it would be rather unfair! Interesting

All of the onsite restaurants try to attract custom from outside the hotels so I do not think any one should have a problem using the bar etc also as a lowes member u are allowed to use the fitness room but if u are a guest of the hotel and not a lowes member its a $10 charge go figure
