This MAY be the Rebels' Best Month Yet!

James: I have done that with cut back weeks too. It can be hard when given the oppurtunity to Rest for me not to Rest, lol. Sounds like you are doing good this week. Sorry the breathing has been difficult, but it sounds like you are moving in the right direction. WTG!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Jen - Great job getting out there despite the weather. Hope you're enjoying your day off.

James - I think we've all taken rests when there was running to be done. But you're focused this week. I'm crossing my fingers for you to work through the breathing.

Katie - Great job on your run this morning. As long as you are in a good place with your schedule, that's all that matters. Go with it!

I had a short run tonight. I found out from my group run that I was pushing my walk breaks before. So every time i had a walk break I mentally was taking bigger strides and trying to walk much faster. So I slowed it down tonight, and I felt GREAT! I feel like I could have kept going so much longer. And my time improved. But that could have been the cooler temperatures. I'm just glad to have learned something and executed it.

Happy Running.

Katie - Nice run! I would love to be able to run a 4.5 mile tempo run. Honestly though, when I was trying to keep DH's pace, I felt like every run was a tempo run. Now that we have our pace back under control, I am planning on trying to run one day a week at a tempo pace but I think I will stick with a 3 mile tempo run for now.

James - Oh boy...skipping the 5 mile walk sounds like something I would do! I am sure you will be fine though and you will be back to your normal schedule before you know it.

Since I struggled for so long with my breathing, I totally relate to now you are feeling about that. I am finally feeling really good again but do notice that I still cough a little when I run. I keep thinking it has to disappear soon.

Jane - I am enjoying my day off...because it is raining even harder today! :rotfl2: I'm crossing my fingers for you to work through the breathing.

Sounds like your time with your group is really beneficial. I think it is great that you learned something to improve your time. Great job! :thumbsup2

AFM - I did take the day off from running but did try to do a bit of work on my core. I did not spend that much time on it but still got a good workout. My knees are still a bit sore from our long run on Saturday...not bad but a bit achy. I am assuming it does not help that we are increasing our mileage a bit more than we probably should. I have to remember to be a bit nicer to my body!

Happy running everyone!
Jen

Hey Rebels! Checking in with my results from the tri. They don't have my run split up yet, but some of you may remember from the April thread a few goals of mine:

C goal: Survive. DONE! :woohoo:

B goal: Two parts, Don't freak on the swim and run the whole 5k. Well, I did freak a little, but did run the whole 5k!

A goal (aka, pie-in-the-sky goal): Under 2 hours. Well, I'm delighted to tell all of you that my time was 1:59:10 :cool1:

Hope all of you are having a great week!

Yay Tiffany! So glad you accomplished all three of your goals. That is a fantastic time!

Jen: Right now I only tempo one day a week. I currently run 3 days a week. Day 1 - Tempo, Day 2 - Speed training or hills, Day 3 - Long run (which has been a race almost every weekend in recent history)

This morning I had aspirations of getting to spin class, but I didn't get to bed till late last night. My alarm went off and a reset it then proceeded to lay back in bed and stare at the ceiling instead of fall asleep. Decided to get up but what felt like 10 minutes laying in bed was actually 50, so it was to late to go. Going to shift my schedule for the week and attempt to get to spin on Friday instead.

Checking in with a weight training workout this morning. Set my alarm to go to spin but I was up late last night so I reset it. Then I laid back down. Well I couldn't fall back to sleep and decided to just get up but it was too late to make it to spin. So instead I cleaned and then did one of my FIRM videos.

Hi Rebels! Checking in

I did get my scheduled 5 miles in last night. I should have done it in the morning but the weather was kind of rough so I stayed in bed. I felt pretty good and decided to push the pace a little and walked close to my half marathon pace of 13:43 per mile, with an actual average of 13:55. Like I said, felt good but did start to get tired at the end. I am supposed to do a 3 mile tempo workout on Thursday, but after last night, I will switch the 3 miles to a comfortable pace. My long walk this weekend is 9 miles. Ouch, as I move along in the training, the miles are starting to get bigger. Do I really know what I am getting myself into? :)

Have a great day Rebels!

Your going to do awesome James! You got into the same crazy thing the rest of got into and are having a blast! :D

Thanks Tiffany!!!

Thanks Katie, yeah, one has to be crazy to sign up for the Goofy Challenge before even competing in their first Half. However, it is great to have a crazy goal to shoot for and then, when it is all over, realize that I had a blast getting there and I have met my goal. I am hoping that the marathon in October will get me ready for that crazy Goofy Challenge!

Way to go James; you can do it. And, I'm sure you will have the time of your life. I did my first Half marathon in March and I got hooked. It was a blast and worth every second of the training.

Well, today was so rainy and yucky. But, I got out this am and did 4.7 miles.
Not my best time, but I was out there and kept moving.

Have a great day Rebels.

Great job getting out in the rain yesterday Gretchen!

Checking in with 4.28 miles of speed training this morning. Felt good to challenge myself. Really need to keep it up moving forward.

Thanks Gretchen, yes, those half marathons can be addictive!

Katie – Sounds like you had a great training run, great job!

AFM – I did my 3 mile scheduled walk and felt really good. I maintained a comfortable but not that easy pace. It was actually fun this morning.

Have a great day Rebels!

Hello Rebels! I haven't forgotten about you all! I've been posting workout data on http://www.dailymile.com/people/LuckyMum22 and linked it to facebook and it seems like I'm talking about myself way too much (I'm not that interesting!)
It is nice to see what everyone else is up to! Race season is upon us and everyone has such fun and interesting races coming up. My husband, Bob and I have been doing 5K's almost every other weekend since March and will continue through June. We are doing our first 10K June 5th and are even looking at doing the Hershey Half Marathon as a relay together so we can still say that our first Half Marathon is in Walt Disney World, Jan. 2011.
Hope everyone keeps running strong and stays injury free!
Barb (& Bob)

Barb (&Bob): Sounds like you two have a fun racing season planned!

Katie: Number 19, that is amazing!

Gretchen: You're a braver one than me, I'm a fair-weather runner! Good job on getting your miles in!

James: Good job on the 3. Isn't it nice when it all comes together and it's fun! It seems to happen so rarely for me, but I love it when it happens!

AFM: ASI photos are up! Hate the ones with the wetsuit and swim cap but actually like the running ones! Particularly the one where you can see my legs (the one a little further out) I'm in the pink top.

C goal: Survive. DONE! :woohoo:

B goal: Two parts, Don't freak on the swim and run the whole 5k. Well, I did freak a little, but did run the whole 5k!

Tiffany - Again...way to go! I love C Goal! I am going to borrow that goal for my 1/2 in June! :rotfl: Your time was really good too, I bet you are so pleased with yourself (and you totally should be).

James - Sounds like you have done some really good training this week. I am planning on doing the Princess 1/2 in 2011 and want to set a goal to do the Goofy in 2012...so I will be excited to read about your experience with the Goofy when the time comes! I think you will do great!

Gretchen - Nice run this week in the rain. :thumbsup2 We had to run in rain all week and it is not fun when it is rainy and cold.

Katie - You are so dedicated. Good luck with number 19 this weekend...I am sure you will do great! :)

Barb - I really like all the data on the daily mile. I enjoy reading about your runs there and watching all the miles everyone is putting on. Great job with all the races - you and Bob have been doing an amazing job!

AFM - DH and I ran 6 miles last night. It was a pretty nice run until our last 2 miles or so when it started raining. I don't necessarily mind running in the rain but it has been so cold and windy that the rain is a bit miserable. The worse part of yesterday's run though was when the wind picked up and we felt like we were running hard but barely moving. Still, we were able to run the whole 6 miles in about 64 mintes.

We will be heading to our cabin tonight and then doing our long run up there this weekend. The plan is to do 11 miles on Saturday...we will see. That just seems like a huge number. I think we can do it and we are planning on a nice, slow and even pace. As we have talked, I think we have set a goal of run 4, walk .5, run 4, walk .5, run 4.1 for our 1/2 marathon in June so this is what we are trying to use as we do our long runs on the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great running and walking sort of weekend! :goodvibes
Jen

Sounds like everyone is moving right along.
Have a great #19 this weekend Katie; I'll be thinking of you:worship:
Tiffany, I love your pictures. My two favorite ones are you on your bike and you with your Mom; I noticed she was wearing her Princess shirt ;)
Good luck this weekend, Jen, with the 11m. I remember doing my long run with my daughter in January with mucho snow on the ground. When we see the pictures my husband took of us all bundled up, we just shake our heads and laugh:rotfl: (easy to laugh now not so easy then). I know you will do fine and look back on it as another accomplishment.:thumbsup2 Will be thinking of you.
I'm just on my way out to do a new trail today; it's 4.7m. Should be fun.
Anyways, Have a great weekend Rebels!

Hi Rebels - Happy Friday!

Tiffany - Way to go with your goals! What an amazing accomplishment! I hope to just survive my first half and have enough commitment after to keep training for my second.

James - I have crazy respect for you signing up for Goofy before your first half. I'm terrified of that kind of mileage. But keep at it.

Katie - Good luck with number 19. You are so dedicated to training I'm sure this will be a breeze.

Barb (& Bob) - you really have a packed schedule. Sounds like Hershey could be a really good time. And if you get chocolate as a reward, that can't be bad.

Jen - Have fun at your cabin. Hope your 11 miles is flies by.

Gretchen - enjoy your trail. You have a great though process - as long as your moving. I try to keep that in my mind when i'm feeling sluggish and discouraged.

AFM, I did 2.5 miles last night. I was a little slower than the other night. And wasn't feeling 100% but I pushed through it. Getting ready for my group run tomorrow morning. Going shopping tonight for some new running items. This has been a really expensive running week with race fees and all these miscellaneous things that I find I "need". But it keeps me going! Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks for all the good wishes for my race this weekend. I was actually interviewed by a Baltimore Sun reporter this week about it and the article was supposed to be in today's paper, but I don't see it. :(
