This may be a stupid question about OKW

We are staying at OKW, in December, for the first time (got a GV...can't wait!) Anyway, we won't have a car. I did request a room near the Hospitality House, but what if we don't get one near the lobby? How will we get all our luggage and groceries to the building? Will we have to walk? I understand this is a pretty big resort.

OKW will transport you and your luggage to your room from check-in. They use those little electric carts that carry 4-6 people and luggage. They will also pick you and your baggage up when it is time to check out (just call them), since the Mears buses (and presumably the cabs as well??) only go to the Hospitality House, not to the individual buildings.

I read on these board that Disney is going to offer transportation from the airport starting in May. I understand it is free. That will help with that part of your trip. You will have no problem without a car. The transportation is fine inside OKW and to and from the parks. You may have a short wait but it shouldn't be too bad. As for the GV, you will love it and it will be hard to go back to any of the other accommodations. They are beautiful and so big! If you do use the Disney transportation from the airport, I am not sure about getting groceries. You could use the business that delivers. I know you can find it here on the boards. It didn't sound bad. Have a great holiday at WDW and let us know how it was.

You can also take a cab for grocery shopping. I would not rely on the HH for groceries. Besides being very expensive, their supply is very limited!

Try wegoshop.com. They'll shop for and deliver groceries to your villa. The reports about them here on the board have been good, and they don't cost a lot ($15 or $20). We may try them on our next trip in Oct. To me, time in a grocery store is vacation time wasted.

OKW is gorgeous! You'll love it no matter where the GV is. We were in a 2 bdrm last spring and loved it.

No. They have those little golf cart type trams and they will transport you and your luggage.

it isn't that big - you can take a bus (internal) to where you need.

from anyplace in the resort - HH is around 10 minutes away walking. most of the time much less.

now let me word this - unless you are kid and enjoying the swimming pool and it is time to leave (going home not to WDW) then it is 2 hours away.... :rotfl:

Also every bus stops at the hospitality house before it leaves OKW to its ultimate destination. You can hop on any bus from your units local bus stop and be there in a few minutes. Also the Bell Services guy gave us a good tip to get back to our room quickly from the HH. The internal bus is not so frequent, but if you walk over the bridge next to the hospitality house to the first internal bus stop you can pick up any bus that goes buy as it will go to every internal bus stop. Enjoy your stay! :)

Even though OKW is a big resort, we have never thought it was too far to walk most places. Like advised above, the buses all stop at HH on their way out. Even staying at South Point, we have never had it take more than 10 minutes to walk to HH anyway. You could walk that long in the hall ways of some other DVC resorts! :bitelip:

Bell services will take great care of you.

Also, If you can, before check-in go to Publix via a cab and load up on the food - even if you do not plan to cook, it will be cost adventageous to do so.

Have a great time! :flower:

We will be using a towncar to pick us up at the airport and our grocery stop. I was just wondering how we would get to our room, with all our luggage and groceries, when we arrive at OKW.

Thanks again! :)

Bell Services will also hold your groceries(in a cold room) and luggage until your room is ready and will deliver them to you when you call.We used weshop.com last week and were very pleased.
