going this March - have my reservation and it is paid for - RCI exchange.

but I am surprised at how few resorts are left. My week is one of the not crowded weeks (if that can be say for March).

So this may be of the one most crowded March (since 2000).

I would think this means that WDW is recoverable....at least for this spring break time (I know this is generally the busy season - I just wasn't expecting it to be so busy - so soon)

anyone else going in March?

We are going in March too. I didn't realize that it would be so busy. My husband likes to go when it is slow. I am really getting nervous now. :confused3 We will be there March 5-11 at the Vistana resort. We plan to spend 2 days at IOA, US and 2 days at the Waterparks. We usually go the last week in Jan. but it was soooo cold our last trip. Do you have any tips for traveling during a busy time?
Tara

We are going in March too ... from the 12th to the 19th!!! Staying at Orange Lake and looking forward to some sunshine!!! It is always busy on the March Break ... only time I can travel being a teacher ... but I don't really find it that bad (at least last year!).

We've traveled in March quite a few times in the last few years. We found that pretty much anything after the 10th was always worthy of a peak level rating. Even when Easter is in mid-late April.

We're going 2/25 through 3/4. Lots of things available conventionally, but the rock-bottom deals haven't materialized yet.

Judging from Expedia's inventory, there are a few views sold out at a few WDW deluxe resorts, and the Yacht/Beach both look to be busy that week, but nothing that would indicate "busy", though we're still just a tad more than six weeks out.

I would love to go to WDW for my birthday (3/7), but it always falls right in the middle of spring break/peak season!!! :( I know you can change your name legally; can you change your birthday??? :rotfl2:

hey mind is 3/20 - I went twice at that time. NEVER again. it was crowded that WDW closed the parks early. that one time (you would think I would have learned) so did SW.... I don't think there was a Us/IOA then.

but swimming in the pools is always fun - our pools don't even open until May...

We are going March 5-11 too! I can't make up my mind where I want to stay. I have the rental car lined up, just need to make up my mind on the hotel. If anyone has any ideas. We stayed at Travelodge Universal last year and it was ok, just too far away from the action of International Dr. I am looking to spend the same $$ on this years hotel. $50 ballpark. WooHoo!!!! :cool1:

We will be there from March 2 to 17th/06. Our march break is the 13th to 17/06. I think alot more Canadians are travelling in march now as our dollar is so good to the US dollar. I remember a few years back when we were paying $1.65 Cda to $1.00 US now it is more like $1.18 Cda to $1.00 US . Cant beat that.

spiceycat- What week are you going? I am curious, what is the slowest week in March. I hope that it is our week the 5-11th. I have a feeling it is the 1st week.

we will be going 3-11 in march i hope its not to busy as it will be my wifes first trip my 2nd. tryign to decide where to stay but our nighly budget is around 100.

We are going March 10-26, thought it might be a little less busy than last year since Easter is further away. But, we also notice the plethora of Ontario minivans travelling the same route down as us, no wonder it's busy. We stayed the week after last year and there were a lot less travelling back at the same time as us, but the Easter rush was on at WDW!! I'd love to be at OLCC right now - if you check on the live web cam there are loungers by the pool sitting empty! Last year we had to stake our claim! It's still a lot more magical then the snow outside my window right now though. Can't wait!

I am going March 3 - 10.

yes the availability has definitely picked up - but the prices.....

staying at WDW value resort is less than some of these offsite...

March and April are hard to determine. depends upon how many schools get off those weeks, how many come to Fl, how many come to WDW....

but disney does a survey of the local hotels + they add the locals who will be off that week. so you can get an estimate of how busy it will be by how long the parks are open. they add hours if they think more people will be there.

they will fine tune it a couple of weeks before your arrival - so remember to kept checking.

My time (march 3 - 10) does not look so bad....there are just a couple of nights that have me a little worried - saturday,4th, Monday, 3rd. the other nights look fine.

for some reason WDW only changes (that I have seem) MK and AK for crowds.

I still haven't booked our hotel. I have the car reserved (Alamo), the airfare purchased, but I can't decide on a hotel. I keep going back to Priceline, maybe I will let them decide. lol

We went March last year and the crowds were fine, it did get busy the last weekend of the month as it was Easter w/e.

I think the crowds will be very bearable.

One word of warning, the weather is less predictable - it was quite cool most mornings when we were there (13th-27th).

Spiceycat,

We are going in May this year, but have been the first two weeks in March the last 3 years. We spend 8-11 days and go to parks every day. We find the crowds manageable. Many days, especially at Epcot and MGM, the parks seemed empty. We NEVER found them too crowded. Just arrived at opening or close to it, toured until lunch and then returned early evening, or toured until late afternoon then went home to the villa for good that day. We love March. Weather is warm to very warm, not hot. Please don't worry!

We are flying in the 24th to Miami and then spending a couple of days in the Keys, up to Daytona (Ocean Walk) for 4 nights and then to Orlando from 31st thru April 7th. We live in Wa state and our kids break is the first week of April. I wasn't planning on doing any of the parks because I hate the crowds. Maybe I'll re-think that, it looks like March may be Spring break for others. We usually go around Presidents Day and the last time we tried to do the parks that weekend, it was a nightmare. Never again! The weather was also cold for us that year so now it's March or April for us.

thanks - I hope this March it is as nice...

All I can say is last March people were buying sweaters and fleeces at the parks in the morning because the weather was cool.

We had 4 or 5 days nice weather out of the 2 weeks, and there were days when it rained all day.

Our day at Discovery Cove was ruined by a 2 hour long thunderstorm and then the water was freezing cold.
I am sure that the weather was well below average temps. but in March you cannot guarantee.

The crowds were no problem, it does not get busy until Easter Weekend.

keep in mind that March crowds vary from year to year as another poster said depending on when Easter falls.
Fat Tuesday is Feb 28th this year so that means Mardi Gras at Universal will be going on (Feb 11 through April 22) so that kicks up the crowds in Orlando. Also I have read in the past that New Orleans schools closes down the week (or at least most of the week) of Mardi Gras & alot of New Orleans locals tend to flee to Orlando to avoid the influx of Mardi Gras crowds in New Orleans, I'm guessing this will also change this year.

I am also trying to go during my daughters spring break (March 17-26 Duval County - Jacksonvill, FL) I have found quite a bit of condos available during that time, just nothing so far with skyauction.

I'm also guessing that it will be pretty warm during the time I'm there, it has been an extremely fair winter here in FL, I've only gotten frost on my windows of my car twice this winter & havent used my heat at all (I live in an apartment) For the most part I bet it will be in the high 70's possibly low-mid 80's in March in Orlando & we plan to use our annual Disney waterpark passes every day while we are there. I hope to get an early start on my tan!! :smooth:
