... I was browsing Ebay for Disney items and came across an auction which just blows my mind - tickets for 3 adult + 1 child for MNSSHP for 31st October - current bid is 150 stg/285 dollars - these are the exact tickets we bought (3 ad/1 child) and the thing is the tickets are actually worth 175 dollars! They are still available from Disney online and by phone and yet someone is bidding 110 dollars above the Disney price!! Weird!

Here's the link if anyone's interested:

The seller actually states that the face value is "167.80" in £. Complete lie!!

Don't ya just love this line: "Tickets for this special event are hard to get,and are not available to buy in the UK. We had them shipped over from the States."

I know there are rules and regulations of all sorts on Ebay and I don't think members are allowed to email potential buyers to warn them off auctions so I'm off to see if I can complain this 'seller' directly to Ebay.

Time and time again on eBay I see second-hand items selling for more than the 'new' price. Never fails to amaze me. :confused3

However, stupid buyers are one thing, but if this seller is telling porkies, you should go and grass 'im up! :thumbsup2

The second highest bidder, who looks like the bidder who pushed the price up, is from the USA and take a look at her feedback.

"Dealsatdisney" (the seller who provided just about all the feedback for the USA bidder) has over 70,000 feedbacks but is currently not trading.

She may indeed be a valid buyer, but nevertheless this is typical of eBay and how someone who fails to do their homework can get caught out.

I wondered if the 31st October is sold out yet - I know it is usually a sell out - if so, then demand is what has pushed the price way beyond the ticket value.

I'm sure I read somewhere else on the boards that it was.

Unfortunately I think ebay will not do anything about this. As always the maxim is buyer beware :thumbsup2

My favourite part was "no queueing" :rotfl2:

Some of those nights have the longest queues of the year!!

A few years ago there was an auction, which closed at a ridiculous figure, for PS at CRT.

Just the PS, with the cost of the meal on top :confused3

Unfortunately, as Cyrano suggests, it's doubtful that E-Bay will do anything about the auction.
I reported the E-Bay seller who 'scammed' me earlier in the year and they allowed his ongoing auctions to continue until he'd 'fleeced' several other unsuspecting buyers! :sad2:

Hi

I actually contacted the people who were bidding for an item once before. I kept emailing Ebay about this seller who were buying fake Christan Dior products and nothing seemed to be done. So I spent the day contacting his current bidder to let them know not to buy. I had many appreciative people.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. :sad2:

It's definitely not sold out for 31st - I checked online and was able to add 4 tickets to the basket and get as far as the final purchase button (I have mine already so obviously didn't buy) so they're available.

I did send the complaint but am doubtful that Ebay will do anything even though I'm pretty sure there is grounds for Ebay to stop the auction as she has lied about the face value of the tickets (the figure she put down is probably what they're worth in dollars but as she chose sterling as the currency she needs to quote that figure).

I just can't get over the "we had to ship the from the states" line. Anyone would think she had to charter a private plane to get the tickets to the UK. :lmao:

Never fails to amazes me the things that people will sell and BUY on eBay

I have sent messages to high bidder and under bidder. Hopefully they will not pay this price.
Although it is possible the high bidder is an account set up to win the auction at whatever price then leave bad feedback for the seller without paying as their feedback is at (0).
The seller is a little misleading with the price but I think its down to Ebay the way you have to enter the details, Denomination for selling is £ which is a different entry to the ticket value.
I have been selling on Ebay for years and if buyers are not willing to research you cant blame the seller (although listing should not be misleading).

I emailed the highest bidder recently too and was about to email ebay but I couldn't find an 'incorrect information' option to report them for :sad2:

(although it's probably too late and nothing will be done)

Of course, there is always the probability that the high bidder knows that the price claim is false, but is prepared to pay anyway.

I bid recently For Bruce Springsteen tickets (Dublin). The seller claimed that he only wanted to cover the cost to him (£160). I knew that the cost was actually 160 euros, but the tickets were worth £160 to me, so I bid that amount in the full knowledge he was lying, but that was the amount that would probably win. It did.

I wonder if the buyers realise that your surname is actually on the passes?! How much of a kick in the teeth would that be-pay over the odds & refused entry because after all passes are non-transferable!
You would think that people would have the sense to check to see if MNSSHP was sold out first!
SD :thumbsup2
PS Has anyone noticed that we only have 6 days to go!!!!!! :woohoo: :bounce:

I got a reply(below) from one if the underbidders, dont know who has told her they are sold out, I checked again today still available but $24 dearer than yesterday, no online discount being applied today, still ony $175 not what they sold for on Ebay. I tried sending her another message but Ebay blocked it.
"Thank you for the information. Unfortunately for the dates I will be at Disney the Halloween Party Event is sold out so if I want my children to attend the party I have no choice but to pay above the actual cost within limits."

Hi Wayne, there is no discount for the nights of 27th, 30th and 31st - those 3 nights have always been full price totalling 175, as you say.

I think a lot of people see "no advance discount" (for those 3 nights) and they interpret this as meaning the tickets are not available because a poster was panicking last week saying the tickets for 31st were sold out but when she checked again they were available as she had mis-read the no-discount line.

I always find that people believe whatever they are told on ebay - i once saw someone sell a tent with "glastonbury mud" - scary thing is someone actually paid £300 for this tent?

:lmao: :rotfl2: The best auction I saw was for one Tic Tac in a box. The photos were hilarious taken from various angles of the solitary mini Tic Tac sittting at the end of the box. :lmao: And yes, people were bidding on it!!

Last night I came across an auction concerning Universal Orlando. Tickets? Coupons? No, you were bidding on a set of website links. *That* was the product - the winner would be sent some links to websites which would help save money and provide into on Universal Orlando. Hey, I guess it could save you all of 2 minutes googling the sites for yourself. :confused3
