This isn't right

.

If someone is at Disney right now then they have no business complaining about missing an event on VMK! I'd take a WDW trip over purple suit anyday!

But...I came on here again this morning to apologize if I offended anyone with my initial statement. I did not mean to imply that people who have time to wait don't have lives. It hit me later that my wording may seem a little harsh and that was not my intention.

I think you are misguided. Some of our most avid players go to Disney. Why should they miss out because they are paying to go to the parks and their dollars support the VMK cause. Don't think for a minute that Disney is not tracking how many quests are turned in and how VMK affects sales in the stores where the quest cards are offered.

I don't think you should lecture anyone about it being just a game. I believe that everyone that plays is aware of that fact.

It seems that every time someone doesn't agree with a complaint about VMK they resort to "it's just a game"

I am thrilled that VMK is giving away the costumes expecially after how much the Green costume sold for but I am trying to say that giving us a little more notice about this event would have been a little more fair.

All I am saying it they needed to give people a little more notice, that is what they have that new calendar for isn't it?

I honestly do not see what the big deal is. Everyone does not need to have *EVERY* single item. If you miss it, you miss it.

VMK *DID* notify us of the event and prizes on the home page. This is where all information is regularly released. The newsletter is constantly updated with such events and news.

If VMK gave some notice that makes better sense but how many people have things to do on a weekend and without any notice that seems a little harsh.

I also disagree that purple isn't a popular color with girls in the target age for VMK purple is most definately a favorite color.

It is all virtual but we all like to have all of the costumes. I am SO glad that I saw the notice. I wasn't going to be able to play VMK for long this evening. My plans cancelled which allowed me to play but if they didn't and I missed it I would have been upset.

Again, the notice was up towards the middle of this week. I think you need to check it more often if you are feeling you are not getting enough notice.

Umm...Middle of the week befor the weekend is not much notice.
Some people make plans for the next weekend more than a week before hand. Some (especially those going on trips) plan months before hand.

I agree with Lisa. They really should have given much more notice to people. Purple is a very popular color and many people (especially the girls) want this costume. I consider myself lucky enough to get it.

But if there had been enough notice given, many people who are missing out could have made some sort of arrangement to receive it.

I am sorry a few days notice is simply not enough. They should be giving us a week or more at the minimum.

They tell us a month in advance the games they are going to play so why not let us know about an event like this?

I agree too,I mean the one thing is I have to wait for the lines to be short enough, wait in the line, then play the game and most likely DC. The next problem is the days, I mean I don't have the time to do this my whole weekend. However, If I have it I'll probably sell it. I mean, when am I going to wear it? I can't trade it.

VMK owes me a weekend and a purple costume if I waste my time and DC.
I'm serious.

I like that VMK surprised us with the free costume pieces; it gives some people without enough credits the opportunity to have a hero suit. I get the feeling that Disney and VMK will never win in the opinion polls. An Abe Lincoln quote comes to mind: "You can please all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time." I think it applies well here. Can Disney VMK do better? Of course; who of us can't? But, I don't expect that I will always be able to take advantage of every opportunity in VMK...sometimes I will miss out. Will I be disappointed? Maybe, but I do remind myself that it is a free game. If I was paying for it, I might feel differently. Anyway, just my opinion.

?

I never lectured anyone about this being a game.

And you may think it is misguided but I think it would be very silly to be upset about missing a prize in a virtual world because you are at Walt Disney World!

Anyway, I've said my piece. Back to VMK and my trip planning.

Have a nice weekend! :wave2:

Wow, they give stuff for free and people will still complain.

If they decide to release the purple costume later but you have to buy it,
would any of you still have a fit over it? I vented my spleen when they
decided to give away the Everest chair, but I quickly got over it.

im upset myself for almost the same reason. ive been gone all week since my sister had her baby late tuesday night/wednesday morning. So if course most of the week was spent visiting her and/or working.

I did not get a chance to see the vmk front page news at all. i had thought the costumes would all be for sale like the last, and had planed to buy it today.

im sad since now i missed out on the top and will never be able to get it :( what is my idea how this should of been done?

I like the idea, one costume peice per person. BUT this is how it should of went,

three game rooms. one for top, one for bottom and one for mask. but they run all weekend. you can only get one prize from each only. meaning you played them all friday thats it. you can still play, but cant win anymore saturday or sunday.

this way people still got only one suit.. but everyone had a chance not to miss out on a certain suit peice.

Especially after I found out it sold for 500 credits! :rotfl2:

i think they should change that you can trade them bc i wasnt able to get one! my friend dragged me along to this trip to Austin and i was only there for Five Minutes! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious: :furious: and now i dont have a top just bc my friend took my vmk away from me! all we did was sit in a car for five and a half an hours then go to a church and stand there for (again) five minutes! im soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mad! :furious: ok worse than mad im :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:
well that's why i think we should be able to trade not that im selfish or anything.

I personally disagree. For every other event VMK has given up to a week's notice and this is no different. It is a shame that many think they should plan their weeks around VMK's schedule. I have said this before and will say it again...if this is the case, then one should consider a serious break from the game. Yes, it is a game, and no, I am not lecturing. I am merely sharing my opinions. ;)

I think that this event is being very well run. The line and queue issue that was complained about since the summer is no longer a problem. The fact that new items cost so much is not a problem for the hero suits either as they are being *GIVEN* away for *FREE*. The theme is cute and the best they could work with technology-wise for now. I think everything is going very smoothly. :woohoo:

I have talked to a large mass of players in regards to how their fun is going on VMK. Not one complained about this event. In fact, they were overwhelmingly grateful and enjoying themselves. :Pinkbounc

This is what VMK is all about; entertainment. :surfweb: It is an avenue to use when time needs to be passed, not a medium to budget time around. I feel that they are doing a great job with this event, listened to both the positive and negative remarks about past events and activities in planning for it, and are doing very well. I definitely have no problems here. :thumbsup2

Still, if you feel a longer notice should be displayed in regards to events and other special activities, I would recommend using the "Contact Us" link on the bottom of the VMK Home Page. This will allow your suggestion to be taken into light instead of just stirring up the fire :stir: on the DIS.

LOL! The 500 credits helped, but I got over my frustration with the Everest
Chairs before the event started. ;)

I just don't get all the fuss.

We got a full free costume.
We got to see some cool rooms.
There was very little wait time to get into rooms (unlike so many other times).
There was advance notice of the timing and process.

It took literally less than 10 minutes for me to sign on to my computer in the middle of a busy Saturday, get my costume piece and sign off to continue with my day. How wonderful!

As for those on vacation, just about every hotel and / or every town that I can think of has some sort of computer rental / usage availability. If you absolutely HAD to have this outfit, that is always an option. Or, how about teaching a friend who doesn't play VMK how to help you out. Or, asking a VMK friend to do it for you. So many options....

We got a freebie - in three parts - with a smooth, minimal wait, previously announced system. How nice. Thank you, VMK.

I also think this event has been really smoothly run. the lines moved quickly and the staff rooms were amazing. (I love looking at others rooms!) I think it is great that each character can only get one costume piece per day.

I think the frustration lies not in the smooth set up and execution of the event, or even that each character can only get one costume piece per day, (which is very generous I think - free costumes!! yahoo!) The frustration is that after the event, the costume is not tradeable. There are those who do not plan their lives around VMK events, but they know if they miss something they can probably trade for it later. It is not the case (so far, anyway) with this. If you miss this event, you miss out. I think that is the point of the frustration in this thread.

I agree about them not being able to trade. :thumbsup2 I have a feeling they will be sold in the future though. ;) This did not appear to be the point of the thread to me though. It focused on not getting enough notice, etc. :confused3
