"This Isn't Disneyworld. . .It's Rainworld!!" our trip to WDW May 16-23, 2009

We left Norway and headed to China. The rain was still coming down HARD! Ally's heart was set on meeting Mulan as she was the only princess Ally had not met yet. I knew she was usually out walking around but with the rain I wasn't sure if she would make an appearance. So we headed into the China Pavilion and had Ally's passport signed and stamped. We looked around the shops and I stopped to ask a CM what time Mulan might be out. She said that she should be coming out again at 4:00 p.m. and she pointed to these red doors across the shop. She said she would be making her way to the temple. Well it was only a little after 3:00-uggh! So we looked around for awhile longer and decided to go ahead and check out the temple. We walked in the temple around 3:37 p.m. and guess who we saw! It was Mulan!! But she was about to head out of the doors for a break! Oh no! I was afraid she wouldn't stop to see Ally--but she DID!!! She was soooo sweet!! She took some time talking to Ally and signing her autograph book.

And then we got a picture!
156.jpg

As soon as she said goodbye, she walked out of the doors that you see behind Ally in the picture! Ally was beyond THRILLED to have met Mulan!! :cloud9: And I was thankful that she didn't brush Ally off--now THAT'S some Disney magic!! We continued into the temple and I got some pics of the inside.

After we saw everything we decided to head back outside. Well, it was still pouring! So we took a seat on the benches outside and ended up striking up a conversation with a family from New York City. I was too afraid to get out my nice camera to get pics of this rain but Lessa (Lifelong Dreamer) said I could borrow some from her TR (she was there the same day as us). Take a look at this rain!

Remember how I said before how it was up to my ankles?
D5214.jpg

Here it was coming down for Lessa in Japan:
D5210.jpg

We decided to move on to Germany and then to Italy (sorry no pics due to the rain). Ally of course had her passport stamped and signed! Then we headed to the USA Pavilion. Thankfully by then it was only drizzling!
169.jpg

Claire was asleep in her stroller but I REALLY wanted to see the Voices of Liberty perform. So Brent offered to stay with her outside while I took Ally inside (They have turnstiles you have to go through to enter so we would have to take Claire out of the stroller to enter--I didn't want to wake her up). The Voices of Liberty were already singing as we entered--they were singing "Rockytop"--uggh! Of all the songs, we walked in on that one! You see, we are HUGE Alabama fans but we live in Tennessee. We have to endure that song ALL the time during AL/TN games and it tends to be very annoying. My dad is a big TN fan and sings it to my girls just to rile me up! However, I must admit that this version was beautiful! The Voices of Liberty are AMAZING! They sing accapella in EIGHT part harmony! It reminds me of the madrigal choir I was in during high school but sooo much better! I had left the camera with Brent outside so I didn't get any pics. However, Lessa is letting me borrow some (thanks again!!!). We must have missed each other by an hour or so. So this was the same group of singers that we saw!

The lady on the far left is the most incredible Soprano I!!
D5191.jpg

Check out this video from Lessa! The singing sends chills up my spine! It brought me to tears as we watched! I'm can't wait to show this to Brent--he was pretty bummed he had to miss this! Next time we will definitely ALL see it!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvjYfrOhmVU

As we were inside, Brent took these pics of our stroller cover! Best $25 I spent for our trip!! You can see the bandanas from my PTR on our stoller. These worked great for spotting our stroller in the crowd! We ended up having to throw them away after the trip b/c they were sooo mildewed from all of the rain!
170.jpg

And Claire alseep inside! And yes, there are air holes--no worries!!
171.jpg

Once Ally and I got her passport taken care of, we headed over to Japan.
174.jpg

We went inside the stores and looked around for a bit. Then we were off to Morocco! The rain was coming down pretty good again and we were having the hardest time finding the Kidcot stop. We thought we had found it but as we entered the room it ended up being the meet and greet for Jasmine and Aladdin! What luck! Claire was still sleeping so Brent took her elsewhere as Ally and I stood in line. We were maybe the third in line! Aladdin and Jasmine arrived very soon after with a CM holding HUGE umbrella over their heads. They were glad to be in a dry room!! Soon it was Ally's turn!!
197.jpg

They spent so much time interacting with her!

Image0619.jpg

We said our goodbyes and met back up with Brent and Claire. We were able to find the Kidcot stop and we were on our way to France!!
209.jpg

216.jpg

We stopped at the Boulangerie Patisserie and had some chocolate eclairs for a snack!! YUM!! Sooo good! As we headed out we saw Belle, the Beast, and Aurora inside one of the shops with beautiful stained glass windows. Brent didn't want to stop so I was bummed about that. So we moved on to the United Kingdom.
220.jpg

We went into one of the shops and Ally saw some Alice in Wonderland dresses that she LOVED! They were sooo cute!! We noticed by the Kidcot stop there was a line forming. I asked a lady who was standing in line with her daughter who they were waiting on--she said Alice! So we jumped in line behind them! We had not run into Alice yet!! The lady explained how they had been in the shop earlier that day looking for Alice and they had told her to come back around 6:15ish for the last time to meet Alice. The girl was even wearing an Alice dress from the shop! She couldn't WAIT to meet her!! Well, in walked a CM and behind him came--well let's just say it was NOT Alice!! The CM said they must have given her some wrong info. The little girl was in tears and the mom quickly left with her, obviously very upset!

We hung around anyways! Next up. . . who was it that we got to meet?

Your welcome for the pictures and video. :thumbsup2

So glad you got to see Mulan!

I think we must have just missed each other in Japan and walking through World Showcase as Mom and I didn't leave until the break in the rain came.

Yes, thank you, thank you!! Did you have a video camera or did you take the video on a regular camera? Soooo glad we got to see Mulan, too!! Ally would have been sooo disappointed and this was our only day at Epcot. We MUST have just missed each other! That stinks! It would have be fun to meet up!

Becky another wonderful update....

man that was some horrible rain! YUCK! nothing compared to what we had, it may have poured but not all day. You and your family are troopers to endure all that and still have :) on...good for you!

How lucky to still catch all those great characters inside and I bet the lines were down due to the rain. The twins met Jasmine and Aladdin plus the Genie back during our 05 trip, but Mae has yet to meet them, she was hoping to meet Jasmine especially during our last Epcot day...

that is too bad about the Alice story and the little girl...:sad1: my guess is you either met Mary Poppins or WTP and friends.

The BEAST is awesome, we had fun meeting him on our trip...well you have to leave some hugs for the next trip right! ;)

and I too love the Voices of Liberty, so glad you got to hear them perform! What a treat.

looking forward to the next update popcorn::

Let me guess who you met, was it the Pooh characters or Mary Poppins? that stinks about Alice. Kaylee has that Alice dress and she wears it all the time. Great update and pics as always. We were ankle deep in water most of the trip, wasn't it awful? You saw lots of characters this day :goodvibes. I think GF would be a good choice for your next trip. Did you see those cabana's you can rent by the pool? I would love to do that. GF is not my top choice for theme but Kaylee is dying to stay there. We eat there almost every trip and she loves the lobby. I guess any little princess would love to stay there. You know I'm laughing about your TN comments :lmao: everyone in this town bleeds orange. It's kind of crazy. We are not really college football fans though.

Great wet update!! I love the pic of you and Claire (that smile)! I'm soooo glad Ally was able to meet all the princesses. Can't wait to hear who was in the place of Alice.

I want to say (but do not hold me to it--they put out the offer of 4/3-7days in the end of Nov beg Dec--we had planned to the first week of Jan, than the third week--as Gwendolyn was accepted into the college program--but when she found she could not go due to Health Ins reasons--the special came out and we planned for May).

So who came in behind that CM?! Well, it was Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore!! I knew that we'd be seeing them Friday night at Crystal Palace. But I also knew that there wouldn't be a PP photographer at the dinner (they should really do that, you know?!). So we decided to wait and meet them! Again, it was a short wait! Let me just say, this PP photographer was fabulous!! He took soooo many pics and not just posed pics either (as you will see)!

Image0685.jpg

And the PP photographer asked if I wanted to be in a pic! Of course I did! Too bad I forgot to take off my poncho!
Image0695.jpg

We really enjoyed ourselves even though we weren't able to meet Alice! We found Brent and Claire and walked around the UK some more!

And then we finally made our way to Canada!
251.jpg

Canada was absolutely beautiful!!

Ally's last Kidcot stop--her passport is now full!!
262.jpg

Then we left the WS and headed back to Test Track. Brent and Ally got in line to ride while Claire and I hung out inside. We watched as people came off of the ride and found their ride picture. I went ahead and got our PP card ready (they can put the TT pic on your PP if you ask them). When Brent and Ally got off of the ride (which they both LOVED, BTW) they couldn't find their picture. So we headed to the picture desk and they were able to find it and put it on our PP card.
Image0711.jpg

Then we walked over to Mission Space. Brent wanted sooo badly to ride this ride. He's always had a thing for space and his dream as a kid was to go to Space Camp. He never got the chance--so this was right up his alley! He did the orange--the more intense ride.

269.jpg

This duck came right up to Ally as we were waiting. He would have sat in her lap if she had let him! Sooo cute!
272.jpg

Brent finally came out of the ride (it seemed like he had been gone forever!!) and it started raining again. We were exhausted so we decided to call it a night and head back to our room. We were greeted by this!!
275.jpg

We were able to catch the very end of American Idol!! I can't believe that Kris won! Brent and I both thought that Adam was WAY more talented--oh well! Then Brent took Ally down to the end of our hallway to watch Wishes from the big window. I stayed in the room with Claire and watched the new show "Glee"! Let me tell you--I'll be tuning into every episode this fall! I LOVED this show! It's about this teacher growing a mediocre show choir into a phenomenal show choir (by recruiting the cheerleaders, football team, etc.)! Brent and I both were in show choir in high school--it brought back memories! Check out this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-eD-AQjByQ

And this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Akr9fRajrKM

Anywho, Brent didn't miss much of the show as they were back in the room at about 15 minutes later! The girls fell asleep after "Glee" was over and we headed to bed as well!

Next up: breakfast @ Chef Mickey's and 2nd day in Magic Kingdom! Pixie Hollow--which fairies will we meet?

Thanks Julie!! Check out the 2nd update!! Yes, we were very pleased with how many characters we got to see! And the shorter lines certainly were a benefit of the rain! Yes, we're definitely meeting the Beast on the next trip!

Yep, the Pooh characters!! Check out the update!! Yes, the ankle deep water really grossed me out! Uggh! Thank goodness for my Crocs! I did not see the cabanas--will have to check that out! If we don't stay there, we'll definitely be eating there! We want to do the 1900 Park Fare for sure!! Yes--TN fans can be a litle crazy! They play "Rocktop" nonstop during the games whether their winning OR losing! :confused3

Thanks! Check out the update to see who she met! I thought the offer had come out sometime around then. My memory isn't as good as it was before I had kids!! :lmao: KWIM?!

I got them at Target!! ;) I know! Ally's hair stayed that way ALL week! It was great--especially with all of the rain! Yes, Voices of Liberty are a MUST see!! :thumbsup2

Hey there!

I am lurking a figured I would post!

I have the following questions. I apologize if they were asked before.

#1- All that rain and your hair was so straight. Did you straighten it or are you one of the lucky people who doesn't have to?

#2- Love the pink purse. What's the name of that Vera? Did you think it was big enough?

#3- I have what will be a 22 month old and we just decided to upgrade to Poly, how did you know what building you wanted to be in? How did you request it?

#4- Did you guys use the pool? What tips do you have for little ones your daughters age?

Thanks!!!

Annie
