Despite insisting that we were "Disney-ed out" after our 3rd consecutive summer trip to WDW last year, we are on the verge of making a Disney 4-peat.

Our 3 kids--15-12 and 5 seem to be hopelessly addicted to the World.

But before I make that call for reservations, here's your chance to offer me a fresh alternative for a 7-day distraction. What other U.S. destination would offer a family experience that would sustain our kids interest for a full week?

Here's your chance to talk me out of going back to Disney. Good luck!

I am sure that there are other places to visit other than WDW, however, our family is in the same boat as yours. Although, we have only been to WDW once during the summer, all other trips have been Spring or Fall.

This will be our third year in a row for Spring, As a matter of fact, my DD (7) realizes how lucky she is to have gone to WDW so many times, this will be her 5th trip. I say do what you enjoy, it would be terrible if you spent a lot of money and then get back and can't say that you really had a great vacation.

Sorry if I wasn't any help, but I did want to let you know that I know how you feel.

If you want a little variety, why not do a Disney Cruise insteed. You get the Disney aspect of the ship for your kids and something different for you. Just a thought.

I offered my DD 10 a chance to go anywhere on spring break for vacation. She picked Disneyworld without hesitating. I guess she is addicted as her mom. Her 12th trip to the world is in 10 days. Then we are taking a girls trip this summer and hopefully another trip in October. Maybe next year we will go somewhere else on vacation.

Try a 7 day Disney Cruise! They're fabulous. We've done a 3 day, a 4 day and a 7 day and we're totally hooked.

The only drawback is if you want to go in the summer, it's pretty expensive.

Now that would be interesting. A Disney trip but someplace totally unique. Of course there is that cost factor .

Try staying at the camp-ground.

A Fort Wilderness cabin is a differant kind of vacation.

Uh-oh... clearly I am in the minority but here goes....

We love Disney but could not go every year. We always feel we need a year off, then we go back refreshed. We (DH and I) also feel very strongly that we live in such a wonderful country and we want our children to see more of it than just WDW.

Some non-WDW trips that we have enjoyed as a family:

San Diego (which would be fabulous in the summer!)

San Antonio

Chicago

Maine Coast (we have family there that we visit but we always play tourist too, it is a beautiful state)

Toronto

This was our WDW year but in our future are: This summer a trip with our whole extended family to Las Vegas rolleyes: not my first choice), Maine, next spring Marco Island (for the beach) and next summer Colorado (for the Rockies).

hmmm..since we are leaving on our 15th consecutive trip, we are probably not the ones to ask, but since you did...it is the only place we have ever gone on a family trip that makes everyone happy. Dad can golf and dive the Living Seas, dd loves everything Disney, even though she is far from being a "little girl" anymore and I'm proud to admit I am the worst addict of all!!!!

Hmm we went in november 2003 and then feb 2004 and now just made resies for may 2004 and sept of 2004 so I am not the right person to ask either. Disney or nothing. The worst part is I live in Ohio and drive there each time.

Hi neighbor! I agree there are other places to go . although Disney is hard to beat... you may want to take a break so you don't burn out! (Although we love going to Disney in the spring after a loooong winter)

If you're looking for summer trips have you been to Yellowstone/Teton area ? We've been twice and all loved it! It's an amazing area with lots to do for everyone.... whitewater rafting, cookouts, geyser gazing, rodeos, museums, wildlife, etc. You can stay in rustic or fancy place. Definitely enough to keep you busy for many weeks. You're 5 hours closer than we are.... I think all of the National Parks would be fun to see.

We also love the Black Hills in South Dakota - again, enough to keep you busy for many days. The caves, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Reptile Gardens, etc.

Hawaii is expensive, but wonderful.

Door County, Wisc.; Colorado; North Shore of Lake Superior.

We've been to lots of other places for a few days or a week. They're not the same as Disney though so you can't compare. We love to travel and see other places and will continue to do so - the rest of the world is worth seeing, too.

We always take 1-2 non disney trips a year. We do compare them to Disney the entire time we are on them though. There is a lot of other stuff to see out there. However, I am comfortable saying this because we do go to WDW 1-2 times a year as well. So, go w/ what is right for your family.

I somewhat agree with WDWorld2003 - There ARE other places to visit and do some interesting stuff but as someone else has said "there's nothing like Disney". At Disney - everyone gets to do what they want to do because there's something for every taste, speed and monetary amount. When I was growing up, our family thing was Camping every year for 2-3 weeks (we even camped two different times - 1st in a Tent, 2nd time in a pop-up) at Fort Wilderness. Those were the best vacations ever!!! (and that was many many many many years ago when each admission to WDW got you a coupon book with 2 coupons for each ride, once they were gone - so were you!!!)

Think twice before you pick something other than WDW!!! I'm taking my DD8 back for the 4th visit (in a row) Dec 2004.

I love Disney - but I also want my boys to see lots of other places in our world! Some of our faves:

Maine....seal and whale watching! picking blueberries! Eating lobster rolls (so cheap!), exploring the amazing landscape - the beautiful coastal towns

Utah/Colorado....hiking in the jaw-dropping mountains....renting a houseboat to cruise around beneath the magnificent rock structures at sunset, enjoying God's magnificent scenery (skiing in winter!~)

NC Outerbanks...quiet, family beachtime - yummy seafood - solitude


dying to go to a DUDE RANCH out west for horsebackriding and dirty boy fun-----, a trip to Maui, Hawaii and San Diego and San Francisco, California

later:

Greece(history, azure blue waters, and food!)
Australia (everything)
Switzerland (the skiing, the chocolate)
Germany (the castles)
Italy (tuscany......everything)
