This is your 24th Anniversary? But you're so young!~A 5/12 TR!*PTR link pg 49, 9/14!*

Yikes, scary stuff! I'm glad the ice helped. I'm sure every one of Disney's restaurants are used to dealing with people suffering from heat exhaustion/stroke. I'm pretty sure you were right about the salt, too much will suck all the water out of your system sure, but I think you'd have to eat a whole box of salt to get that far. When you're feeling like crap and sweating a lot, you need to replenish your salt, if only a little bit.
Yuck for the migraine too, hope you managed to get that under control after your nap!

Wow! I'm really sorry you had to go through that! It really sounds like you had some heat stroke! I'm glad your DH went to get you the ice!

Sorry about the Migraine! Those are so horrible!! I hate them!!

I love the picture from your hotel! It's so pretty there.

Disney has the most magical ducks! I agree that they are 100 times cuter at Disney than they are anywhere else. LOL!!

I had a feeling that was what was happening. I have a hard time with the heat and have to find a cool dark place to sit. It's one of the main reasons that we don't go to Disney in the summer. It's just too hard for me to stay cool. Although, DH found a neck pack for me to use. It's filled with some kind of natural herbs and water and when you freeze it, it helps prevent your body from getting overheated. I'm not sure if it really works or not, but my brain thinks it does. LOL!! Made it bearable when we went on a mini-vacation a few weeks ago. LOL!!

I'm glad that you started feeling better. I love wonderful and helpful Cast Members. They always make our trip more memorable and wonderful.

Can't wait to read more!! Loving everything about your trip report!!

Oh and DH makes me laugh with the beer mugs. I collect the soda mugs. DH always asks me, "What are you going to do with that?"

LOL! Use it for soda. I think I've used them maybe one time. They are sitting on top of our kitchen cabinets. LOL! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That is so scary...and I can totally relate to what you described. I have been there before too...and usually faint, so I a glad you didn't. It's been a long time, but it's such a horrid feeling.

I'm so sorry you felt so bad at EPCOT. The heat can do some scary stuff. I hope after you rested you felt better for the remainder of your trip.

That sounds AWFUL about your dizziness! That happened to me when I went last June in Animal Kingdom, I had a terrible headache and felt really dizzy, so I went to first aid. I was in there for like almost 2 hours lying on a cot, and then they gave me a wheelchair for getting around the park! It was really annoying that I wasted a day in First Aid, especially since my uncle was there to visit that day! Wah for being sick in Disney! :( :goodvibes

The one when I almost died :faint: Oh my goodness, that post title made me anxious through your whole post. LOL

I was just waiting for everything to be the thing that nearly killed you!! ROFL

Ooo, they ate fish and chips! Maybe she got food poisoning!
Nope
Ooo, the topiaries! Maybe it was a rabid sqirrel!!!

but alas it was the heat. UGh, that heat can effect the best of us for sure :( I`m so so happy you got over it for the most part bc that was sounding scary! Hope you were able to sleep it all off.

Lotso is such a great villian, because he is so adorable you dont expect it!!
We just watched Toy Story 3 the other night actually :thumbsup2

Im sorry you were getting migrane, sounds like the heat was really getting to you!! I actually crave salt a ton when I run in the heat or when I run long distance because you sweat out so much, so you probably were craving it from the heat!!

As you were describing the feeling of sitting there just enjoying your view waiting for your lunch, I felt like I was right there with you!

So sorry that you ended up with heat stroke...that's never fun! Can't think of a better place to cool off though, I love the low light in there, especially if a headache is coming on!

Oh no on the heatwave! Hope you're feeling a bit cooler now.

Yay fish and chips!!! I remember getting some when I was feeling a bit down at one point during my trip just to cheer me up. Gotta love comfort food! :rotfl:

Haha on the beer cup only being used once!

Great shots of the topiaries :)

Oh no on feeling so bad hun especially whilst touring Epcot :( It must have been awful feeling that way but am glad you were able to rest and continue with your plans after a bit. You must have been relieved to crawl into bed once back at Beach Club.

Oh my, that sounds just awful. I have a tendency to dehydrate or randomly have weak circulation and pass out very easily, and your description sounds exactly how I feel right beforehand. I'm surprised you made it to Mexico like that! Thank goodness you were able to sit down and get some ice before having to get any medical help, that's the worst:sick: My friend who is a CM says having people get heat stroke/pass out is almost a day-to-day event, so no worries!:goodvibes

Hope you started to feel a little better!

I haven't posted on your thread maybe but once a long long time ago just to say hi. I read and just enjoy myself but I wanted to say how much I really really enjoy your writtings and pictures. I love how you say you cry when your happy and you tell us all about how you feel because that's exactly how I am and I am shy and well I feel like I'm you when you describe everything because that's how I would feel about it as well. So I just wanted to say thank you for all your post and for being so frank about everything!:goodvibes

On another note I'm so sorry that you got so sick. I know how it feels to want to live and do everything but at the same time can't because of illness and pushing your body to much. Much love to you:lovestruc I hope the rest of your trip went well :(

Hey Jen! Long time no see! :lmao: I'm all caught up! I'm so sorry you had that scary experience in Epcot. The heat is really something else. I went to Las Vegas for a wedding a few weekends ago and had a similar experience. The wedding was outside and it was 111 degrees! I have always heard that the heat in the desert is different and it doesn't feel that hot, but that's a lie! :rotfl: It didn't help that the wedding started 45 minutes late! We eventually just had to go because I started feeling really sick to my stomach and dizzy. :confused3 I'm glad you eventually felt better and the ice did the trick!

Yay for liking CG! We really enjoyed it on our recent trip, too! My dad had the pork dish and he said it was in the top 5 dishes he'd ever eaten! I loved watching Wishes from the observation deck, but it was definitely strange seeing the fireworks at that angle!

Oh No. So sorry you got overheated and started to feel so bad. I bet you were getting a little anxious with how you felt and that's probably why you felt like your heart was racing. So glad the ice did the trick! I don't do well in extreme heat either and I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Darn migraines. I hope you wake up relaxed and refreshed. :goodvibes

Thanks! I was definitely anxious, and my heart always races when I get anxious or start to panic...I was really starting to get nervous that I might pass out or something! Luckily, it was nice and cool and dark in Mexico and the ice really helped! :cool1:

Oh wow, how scary that must have been....especially since you were drinking water and that wasnt helping, and the fact that Brandon seemed worried!
You must have slept for hours. That is funny about wanting the salt, it makes sense..

It was really scary...that was when I made the decision to drink as much Gatorade/Powerade as I could find, it seemed like it helped me more than water. I didn't have any episodes with the heat after that day so I think drinking a lot of those things helped!

I slept for a while, which is strange for me in Disney, usually I can take a 30 minute nap and be ready to go back out the door! :rotfl:

I love Marie- she's such a cute kitty! I've never had a picture with her, I'll have to try and get one!

Ugh, your heat-scare sounds terrible! I had a similar incident recently during a riding lesson... scary when you're on a horse and think you might pass out/die!
REALLY glad the time in Mexico and the ice pack helped you feel better... hope you got the migraine under control!

I always get a picture with Marie, I think I've gotten one on every trip since our November 09 trip! She's adorable!

OMG I can't imagine having heat stroke on a horse, I'd die! I'd die just from thinking about dying on a horse! :faint:

I'm so happy the ice helped, otherwise I would have had to go to the medical center, and that would have not been fun!

Boo! I totally understand! I've actually had a couple of episodes like that (and later figured out it was because of a medication I'm on). Once, it landed me in the ER after DH caught me passing out, OUT of the shower! The other time, we were at a baseball game, and I knew it was coming and we tried to get out of the sun and into the shade, but it was too late. It's the worst feeling when you know something is wrong, and you feel awful, but can't do anything!

I'm just so glad you were ok, got cooled off and got better enough to get back to the room!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

OMG that sounds so scary, especially getting out of the shower! I'm thankful that I've never passed out from the heat, but I think I've come pretty close, I've been really dizzy and my vision started to get weird! I hope from now on I know enough not to push myself in the heat anymore! :)

Thanks! I'm glad we made it back to the room, for a while, I thought I was going to have to spend the whole night in Mexico! :rotfl2:

Jen, great photos of all the topiaries and I can't wait to have that fish and chips in two months.

I'm sorry you got so sick...I would have been scared too. I'm glad you started to feel better.

Thank you! OMG the fish and chips are SO good! I can't wait to have them in November! :cool1:

Thanks, ugh, yeah, it was awful feeling so sick! I'm just glad I got it under control before something really bad happened!

Heat sickness is bad, so I am glad you were smart enough to realize you needed a break instead of pushing through.

We live in South Carolina, so we are used to the heat. From May to October is about 90 or higher every day. I hate the summers here and yearn to wear a sweatshirt and some jeans.

Looking forward to reading more. What are your November dates ??

I'm glad too! I'm glad something bad didn't happen, like me passing out or something!

I hate the summers in CT, so I can imagine how awful they must be in SC! I love the Fall, I cannot wait until it's nice out again! We had a few nice nights this past weekend, and now it's back to being hot and humid, ugh, can't stand it!

As of now, my November dates are the 9th-17th, but they might change...they usually do at some point! :rotfl2:

Whew, that would've scared me, too! Glad you were able to cool off and feel a little better. I don't do so well in the heat, either.

LOL, I was going to ask if the Lotso topiary smelled like strawberries!

It was scary! Sometimes I wonder if I'm just being a baby when it comes to the heat, but when my heart starts pounding and I get dizzy and start to feel cold on the inside, I know it's serious. If I ever go to Disney again when it's that hot, I will definitely be going much slower and drinking gallons of Gatorade! :rotfl:

Haha, yes he did smell like strawberries, it was really nice actually!

Love the Rapunzel stuff! The ornament is so pretty. I'm going to have to look for that next time we go.

Ugh, that must've been no fun at all to feel so miserable. Glad the ice helped though and you started to feel better.

Isn't the Rapunzel stuff adorable? I LOVE that ornament!

It was pretty awful feeling so sick, I'm just glad I felt better after a little while and that it didn't ruin my whole day!

Lately I've been hearing so many good things about those Yorkshire fish and chips! It's quite unfortunate that I'm not a fish person... because that stuff looks good!

Awww your Marie meet sounds so precious!

Good lord, I've been dreading you getting to this update ever since you told me what happened... that's terrifying! Ahhh goodness. I'm so so glad you got to feeling better! That just sounds like one of those helpless moments where you're trying everything you can think of and nothing will work. Thank God for the ice!

They are so good! You don't like fish at all? I swear, it's not ocean-y or anything, I'm not a big fish/seafood person either, but I love fish and chips, and those are some of the best! :thumbsup2

Marie is adorable, I'm trying to meet her on every trip!

It pretty much was one of those moments where I was trying everything, I'm just so happy the ice helped, and that the CM was so nice about giving me so much! I guess it does really happen all the time!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you were feeling so sick! Thankfully the ice and sitting helped, I think that salt does help in that kind of situation too (you're right, the Gatorade does have a lot of sodium in it to replenish electrolytes or something like that!). Although I'm not sure that margarita-y salt would have been the best choice .

I hope your migraine went away soon!!!

I'm so happy the ice helped, I was starting to feel so hopeless! Haha, I don't know if the margarita salt would have helped, but I wanted to take Brandon's cup and lick the whole thing! :rotfl: It was so weird, how much I was craving it! At least now I know to always have Gatorade with me at all times! :thumbsup2

I don't like eating places that don't have a lot of seating all the time either; and you're so kind to make sure that family got your seat when you left :)

OH NO!!! Feeling like "death" is never fun! I am glad that you finally were able to feel better without having to go to a med center!!!! Being in the heat can drain you and make you sick!

There are so many places in Epcot we avoid because I hate looking for seating! Usually the fish and chips place is one, but luckily, we got there early! The CS in Mexico is insane too, and they actually have a decent amount of seating, it just always seems SO busy!

Haha, no, feeling like death is never fun! I try to avoid it on a daily basis, but I'd really like to avoid it in Disney, whenever possible! :rotfl2: I'm just glad I felt better, it was scary for a little while!

Heat stroke is just the WORST...thank goodness for A/C and a kind CM with an ice bag! Mexico was the perfect place to recover, and I'm so glad you didn't have to find a doctor.

That Rapunzel ornament has my name on it. Must have! And the miniature flower and garden festival is one of my favorite things!

It is the worst! I'm glad there are so many indoor places in Epcot to cool off, but I really wanted to be in Mexico because it's dark...when I have a headache, I just want to be in a dark room! That CM was so nice, I wish I thanked him, but once I was feeling better, I just wanted to get back to the BC, so it slipped my mind!

The Rapunzel ornament is beautiful isn't it? I love the little village, how it's always decorated for whatever is happening at Disney! :cool1:

Omg...how scary to feel like that! I am so glad you listened to your body and slowed down and cooled off. Thank goodness for the nice CM and the ice bag!

I loved seeing the Rapunzel stuff!!:)

It was scary! It's great that there are such nice CM's most places and they do whatever they can to help you out! This guy went above and beyond though, he could have just given Brandon ice in a cup, and he went out of his way to make me a huge ice pack out of plastic and napkins! pixiedust:

I love Rapunzel, I'm glad there is a lot of merchandise with her on it!

:worried: I'm sorry you had to go through that!! That sounded so scary! I'm glad you started feel better! I'm sure that ice pack helped alot!:thumbsup2

That's too funny about the souvenier beer cups:rotfl: That's what my DH would probably say! Except when he got home he wouldn't put beer in it, he would probably drink everything from it, and eat cereal out of it! haha (okay maybe not that far!)

The fish and chips look good! Ben and I might have to stop there in November!popcorn:: (instead of popcorn, think fish! hahaha)

Thank you, the ice pack really did help, I think I might have died without it! Well, not died, but I definitely would not have felt better!

Haha, I actually thought Brandon would use the mugs, but no, they're just tossed aside. I hope he doesn't buy any more of them in November!

Yes, definitely get fish and chips if you can! They are really good, if you can get there right when it opens, you should try to do that so you can grab a table! :thumbsup2

Definitely sounds as if you were on your way to heat stroke. Glad you were able to get it under control before it got any worse. :)

Ugh, yeah, I'm sure I was! I'm glad I started feeling better, I was really, really scared that I might just pass out in the middle of Epcot! :scared1:

Yikes, scary stuff! I'm glad the ice helped. I'm sure every one of Disney's restaurants are used to dealing with people suffering from heat exhaustion/stroke. I'm pretty sure you were right about the salt, too much will suck all the water out of your system sure, but I think you'd have to eat a whole box of salt to get that far. Yuck for the migraine too, hope you managed to get that under control after your nap!

It was really scary! Haha, yeah, I had a feeling I was right about the salt! I mean, maybe margarita salt wouldn't have been the best thing, but I was just craving it, I felt like if I had salt, I'd feel so much better! Oh well! I'll be sure to bring lots of Gatorade with me on my next trip!

Yeah, the migraine was no fun either, but it always happens when I get that hot, the heat always makes me get headaches. There's just nothing I can do about it! :confused3

Wow! I'm really sorry you had to go through that! It really sounds like you had some heat stroke! I'm glad your DH went to get you the ice!

Sorry about the Migraine! Those are so horrible!! I hate them!!

I'm glad Brandon got the ice too, I definitely think it saved the day for us! It was pretty awful for a while!

Luckily, it wasn't a horrible migraine, once I started feeling better from the heat, it let up a little. Nothing will ever be as bad as that one I had the first night of our October trip last year, ugh, that was the worst! :scared1:

I love the picture from your hotel! It's so pretty there.

Disney has the most magical ducks! I agree that they are 100 times cuter at Disney than they are anywhere else.

Thanks, the BC is so beautiful! I want to stay there on every trip!

Aww, Disney does have the cutest ducks! I wish we saw some ducklings on this trip, but I guess they were all hiding!

I don't think I could ever do Disney in the summer, I probably won't ever go in May again, never mind the summer! If we do another anniversary trip, it will probably be in April, maybe then it will be a bit cooler! I just don't tolerate the heat well! :confused3 Thanks for the suggestion about the neck pack, I'll have to look into that! :thumbsup2

Awesome CM's are the best! I'm glad he was so nice about the ice, it really helped!

Haha, when I first got my refillable mug last year, I thought "oh great, I'll bring tea to work in this every day"...I did it maybe 4 times! :rotfl:

That is so scary...and I can totally relate to what you described. I have been there before too...and usually faint, so I a glad you didn't. It's been a long time, but it's such a horrid feeling.

Ugh, I'm sorry you have to deal with fainting, that must be scary! :scared1: I'm surprised I haven't yet, since I seem to always be bothered by the heat, but so far, I've made it through! I just feel like I'm going to die for hours on end, instead of fainting! Don't know what's worse! :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry you felt so bad at EPCOT. The heat can do some scary stuff. I hope after you rested you felt better for the remainder of your trip.

Thanks! It's weird, I know I don't do well in the heat, you would think I'd know how to take care of myself, but I still push myself in Disney even when I know I shouldn't! Lesson learned, I guess! :thumbsup2

The one when I almost died :faint: Oh my goodness, that post title made me anxious through your whole post. LOL

I was just waiting for everything to be the thing that nearly killed you!! ROFL

but alas it was the heat. UGh, that heat can effect the best of us for sure :( I`m so so happy you got over it for the most part bc that was sounding scary! Hope you were able to sleep it all off.

Haha, well, I told you I'm a bit dramatic, didn't I? :rotfl:

Haha, no rabid squirrels or poison, just the stupid heat. My body just can't handle it. I don't know why, no one else in my family is like this, but lucky me, I got the migraines and the no heat tolerance! :rotfl: Just glad I was able to feel better!

I always watch Toy Story 3 when it's on. It's ridiculous how many times I've seen that movie!

Huh, that's interesting that you crave salt when you run, is that common for people that run? What do they tell you do to do for that, drink Gatorade? I'm sure they don't tell you to lick margarita salt off of a glass! :rotfl:

As you were describing the feeling of sitting there just enjoying your view waiting for your lunch, I felt like I was right there with you!

So sorry that you ended up with heat stroke...that's never fun! Can't think of a better place to cool off though, I love the low light in there, especially if a headache is coming on!

Thank you, I try to put moments like that in my notes so I can remember them and then share them in my TR! I love Disney moments like that!

Mexico is a great place to cool off, I love how dark it is! I tried Mitsukoshi when I had a migraine last October, and it helped, because it's really cold in there, but it has such a strong smell of incense that it started bothering me! At least Mexico just smells like yummy food!

Haha, well, I was, but now it's getting hot again! I just want it to be Fall!

The fish and chips were so good, you're right, they are definitely comfort food!

It was awful feeling so sick, but at least I felt better and it didn't ruin the day! I was so happy to get back to the BC and get into bed!

Oh my, that sounds just awful. I have a tendency to dehydrate or randomly have weak circulation and pass out very easily, and your description sounds exactly how I feel right beforehand. Hope you started to feel a little better!

Oh wow, so I was probably going to pass out then! I'm surprised I made it to Mexico too, but we walked really, really slow, I'm sure we stopped to sit a couple of times on the way! I'm sure people pass out all the time in Disney, it's just so hot and I'm sure people don't know how to deal with it! I know I have problems with the heat and I STILL don't know how to deal with it!

Thank you, I did feel much better!

I haven't posted on your thread maybe but once a long long time ago just to say hi. I read and just enjoy myself but I wanted to say how much I really really enjoy your writtings and pictures. Aww, thank you! :goodvibes I'm so glad you're enjoying the TR! I try to be honest about the good and the bad parts of my trips (even though there are really no BAD parts of a Disney trip...maybe I should say less than perfect!) because what's the point of sugar coating it? I enjoy every second that I'm in Disney, even when I feel like I'm dying, like I did in this previous post, I still kept thinking how pretty Mexico was and how we really need to eat at San Angel someday! :rotfl:

Thank you! The rest of our trip was great, the only problem...it was too short!

Hey Jen! Long time no see! :lmao: I'm all caught up! I'm so sorry you had that scary experience in Epcot. The heat is really something else. I went to Las Vegas for a wedding a few weekends ago and had a similar experience. The wedding was outside and it was 111 degrees! AHHH hey!!! I'm so happy to see you here! I almost thought you disappeared forever! :goodvibes

OMG your Las Vegas experience sounds awful! That's probably exactly what would happen to me if I ever went there! I don't believe that 111 degrees doesn't feel that hot because it's dry air, 111 is still hot! Hope you felt better quickly!

I LOVED CG! It was SO good! The pork was amazing, I cannot wait to eat there again in November! Wishes was nice from up there, but I can't wait to see it in the park again!

I love reading your TR's. It's probably because I find myself thinking I would have done the same thing in a lot of your stories. Then again it just might be the Connecticut connection.

I'm still here, just working A LOT.

Ugh! Heat stroke is no fun. I remember I had it so bad one night when I was younger that I woke up shivering and needed to put on layers and layers of clothing and then I'd go to sleep and wake up again only to be sweating bullets. It was horrible.

On the bright side, you got some amazing pictures that day! :)
