I teach in one district and live in another. Either the district I live in takes a weird week, or the one I work in refuses to have one any other time than "good Friday and the week after Easter". This year the kids have off the week before and the Monday after, and I have Friday and the week after--meaning they have 4 days with my parents (thank God for them!) and then I have 4 days with my son in the PM and no one in the morning.
Today I took a personal day because it is the day for kindergarten registration at the elementary school. I got a copy of next year's calendar. Now Easter is a decent time next year--4/11, which is DD#2's BDay. I was thinking that they would take the week after. NOT!!! They have the week BEFORE--April 2-12--and I have the week AFTER--April 9-19. So we'll be in the same boat.
It was great last year when we did have the same break (only the second year since DD#1 started school). We took two great day trips, one to Cleveland to see the Titanic exhibit and the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. This year we are going to our museum on Good Friday to see the Van Gogh exhibit. But I'd sure love to have more time with them!!
