People always ask me - as I am sure they ask you - why do I always go back to Disney World. You are going back again?" they say with raised eyebrows. And I usually say something about how when you love a place you want to return whether it is a beach vacation or a mountain cabin. But the most important reason for me was demonstrated this past trip with one of those truly Magical Moments that just would not happen anywhere else - ever!

I had just returned to my resort, POR, on the last night of my trip, last week after attending the Princess and Pirates Party. It was about 10:30. I was exhausted and still had to pack to leave in the morning. I stopped at package pickup to get the packages I had had sent there from earlier in my trip as I needed to pack and as I got to the front of the line I realized with a sense of dread that I had forgotten to pick up the packages I had had sent to package pickup at the MK earlier in the day. I usually don't use it and this time had met up with a friend for the Party after being in the park all afternoon. I had totally forgotten them until that minute.:faint:

I didn't know what I was going to do, but I decided to take the problem to Disney, since they have always solved my vacation problems for me in the past.

If I had been anywhere else I don't think I would even have brought it up, but I go to WDW with the sense of being safe and cared for. So I told the CM what had happened and that I was leaving in the morning. She asked me to wait a moment while she went in search of help.

Soon she was back with the manager who told me she understood my predicament and would go herself to the MK right then that evening and pick up my package and bring it back and have it waiting at the front desk for me in the morning! :worship:

I almost cried. I was tired, my back hurt, and I was leaving - all things that make me cranky. And here was this wonderful CM who was going to all this trouble to help me. It was a Magical Moment. And it is truly why I keep going back to Disney. Because no matter what ditzy thing I do, WDW is there to help me out.:thumbsup2

:goodvibes I know where you're coming from...WDW is my land cruise, always taken care of and never have to leave the property. Glad all worked out for you!

Thanks. I love to travel and go places I haven't been before, but when I need some serious recharging of my batteries, I want to go somewhere that someone else solves my problems.

People say the samething to me, why do you go back there??? BECAUSE we LOVE IT!!!! Everytime we go back it's always great and you feel like your starting all over again with a new vacation...:cloud9:

We're returning this fall for our 41 visit. Each trips gets more and more easier for us. I'ts actually better than returning home, we feel so safe, secure and relaxed, everything at your finger tips. The resorts and amenities are second to none, transportation provided anywhere on property for free and different modes, boats, buses, monorail. Dining is second to none also, everything to suit ones palette and throw in a couple of waterparks, golf courses and DTD shopping, its all there. Yes, we feel very welcome upon each trips return and we've been addicted to the WL for the last 10 trips, all we need is there.

We love it too and have always had wonderful times. They have made so many parts of different trips so memorable for us. It's the little things they sometimes do that they don't have to that makes us keep heading back. :)

This is why I keep going back. I am currently helping planning a trip for my in-laws and my mother-in-law's sister. The reason? The sister has never been to Disney World and wants to go. My in-laws would take her anywhere she wanted to go for a vacation and she picked Disney World. She's in her mid-50's, my in-laws in their 70's. And they will all have a good adult time.

Thank you so much for posting this thread.

I have people asking me all of the time... "Don't you want to go anywhere else?" My reply... No. There is something truly special about a place where you can forget all of your troubles once you are there. WDW is honestly a "fairy tale" setting for me. I honestly can't imagine wanting to be anywhere else.

Funny, I refer to WDW as a cruise without water. :)

DH is saying that we will be taking a break after this year....I'm frightened already. The YC better wow the heck out of him so we can return. My goal is to try a different resort each time, but if the only way he'll return next year is to do the YC, then so be it.......maybe we'll stay on BC side of it, this way we both win :rotfl2:

My sister always asks that question...my answer these days is "Some people get it and some people don't". This is the one place that I am on an equal playing field with my children...we are all 5 years old again!! :lmao: By the way we are 46, 45, 24, 23(dil) and 21 in the real world. The newest addition is 2 months - we can't wait to get him started!!

Yes, we get the raised eyebrow with the questioning look, too. I also have had the comment of "oh, our family just doesn't like theme parks much".:rotfl2:

Anyway, I wanted to add that I live in a tourist town. There are MANY return guests year after year. These families book or own condos/cabins,etc. EVERY YEAR and their kids return with their kids. Even people that live here now were usually tourists here as a kid. (You get the idea.)
I just have a feeling that they don't get the same response from their friends/coworkers as Disneyites do. I think it is because Disney is so well marketed that everyone feels like they know what it is all about even if they have never been.
That's my take on it.:goodvibes

Couldn't have said it better myself, and I live 3 hours away, it takes me 45 min by plane to get there!:thumbsup2 ::yes::

There are just so many reasons I keep going back. This year besides rescuing my forgotten packages I also returned to my room one day to find one of the famous towel animals with her front paws slid into my sandals - and a little duckling sitting on the headboard of my bed. I chuckled out loud and my tiredness faded away.

I had an incredible meal sitting at the bar at the Flying Fish one evening laughin and chatting with two other guests and a very funny - and attentive - bartender while Ihad one of the best meals of my life. A woman helped me with my backpack when I didn't realize it was open on my back and no one brushed me aside because they were busy or I was taking too long. Little girls grinned at me and I took pictures of families with their cameras so they could all be in one together. It is just a totally magical experience for me. My home and my retreat, where I go to restore myself...

SO TRUE!!!

Co-workers & friends aways ask why I go every year, they don't understand . I'm 42 & my DD is 17, it's someplace that we simply love. Planning & reading these boards also helps get me through tough times.

Thanks for sharing that great CM story!
Why I keep going back-
Nostalgia, I've been going since I was a toddler, great memories.
Value, it is worth every penny. People growse about the cost, but where else can you get so many entertainment options and experiences in one place? Particularly for kids?
No one does immersive theming like Disney, being there is truly an escape.
No matter how many times I go, I always discover something new.
Customer service, as exemplified in your story, goes beyond the call.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Magic. I can't think of another place on earth that gives me the same goosebumpy anticipation feeling as passing through the main gates or when I get my first glimpse of the Castle or Spaceship Earth.

Awwww!!! What a great moment! :goodvibes

I was raised on a farm. We worked hard, from the time I was a preschooler. We only took 2 vacations my entire childhood, both times to Florida - stayed off site and visited WDW, Seaworld, and Busch Gardens. I remember being so happy and relaxed during those trips. I told myself that when I had my kids that they get to go on vacation much more often than I did.

We don't *only* go to WDW, although it's the only place I get the warm fuzzies from, year after year. :thumbsup2

Because the magic is still there. It is the one place I go that I don't worry about all those little things that sometimes keep me up nights. And even when I have had bad things happen while there...they are soon forgotten and replaced by this ol' grandma rushing like a 5-year old to jump on the next ride.

I can go to New Orleans, the Carribean, Hawaii, the Great Northwest, Africa, etc. and Disney all at the same time.

It is my paradise, never leaving the property...and as soon as I am done with one trip...I have the thrill of planning an all new adventure.

What I don't get is why some folks don't want to go.
