This is us..

I'm feeling that Toby is going to become an unlikeable character. I've been getting annoyed by him.

I didn't have a feeling about him either way..but last night he really bugged me.

I know I get annoyed when I say no to something and get bugged over and over again to change my mind. I said no, multiple times, so drop it.

Toby had no idea at first why she wanted to watch alone. For the moment, I'm choosing to believe he thought it was a self-esteem thing (like she watches alone so nobody sees her over-eat or she doesn't really know what's going on and doesn't want to look stupid, etc.) and I thought the invitation was actually kind of cute. - I do fault him for interrupting the meeting to give it to her! But I think she was just as rude to try to control the others ("no pausing" etc.) after she did choose to accept.

I can't figure out if they are trying to have the views be annoyed by him or have us think he is endearing.

I finally watched last night, and I really think William's not dead yet and it was a flash forward. They went directly from sitting on the floor of the bathroom in the hotel to him in the girls bedroom packing Williams stuff, all while Kevin was still talking to the girls about the painting. If it was his real death, then I'm really confused as to why they would do it that way, but we'll see.

I didn't like that after Kate made a big stink about watching the Steelers alone and Toby went to the trouble of making an invitation to get her to change her mind, he then invited others to watch along?? Huh? Why? If he wanted to watch it with his friends, he should've let her do her own thing too. I'd like to see Kate be stronger and not give in all the time.

I liked this week's episode a lot. I am starting to like Kevin more and more.

He died in 2006.
Who said that in the episode? According to the article I read yesterday w/ the head of the show, when he dies has not been revealed yet. I need to re-watch if it was mentioned as you say.

I don't think this is considered a spoiler, but I will mark it as such just in case someone doesn't want to know yet:

The article I read w/ the show head said that it was indeed a flash forward to William's death. He is in the next episode. he didn't say how long it would be before William died.

I wasn't surprised he invited others. In fact, the first thing I thought when I saw the invitation was "are we going to see Toby's friends?" He didn't invite her over to watch the game, he invited her to his football "party." I guess it wouldn't be quite the same thing since they are dating, but a college classmate invited me to "a party" at his house one time and when I got there it turned out that I was the only guest. It was VERY creepy/uncomfortable. "Party" = multiple guests.

She said after she moved to LA she stopped watching the games with him and then she watched the 2006 AFC championship game with him. It brought the Steelers good luck so she kept watching the games with her dad after that. I don't know if she started watching them with his ashes or if he was alive. He could have died way before 2006 or after. I don't think that meant he died in 2006.

I missed that. Did they mention 2006 in one of the episodes?
She said she started watching the Steelers again in 2006 whens she started watching with her Dad again, So he was alive in 2006, but they did not say that was when he died.

I've started to wonder if eventually we're supposed to see Kate grow largely through her relationship with Toby, learn how to appropriately express what she wants and needs and be heard. I've also wondered if their relationship will turn out to be some kind of echo of her parents' relationship with each learning how to deal with the different wants and needs of the other that are very different from their own, just because they love one another and think that the compromises along the way are worth it in the end.

That is all I thought too. I would have been irate. He was clueless and inconsiderate of her feelings IMO. As for the invitation, not once did I think that implied there would be anyone else with them. Even the invite had a picture of her and him watching together, no one else in the picture. And after she made a big deal of watching alone, I figured he would have known enough that her meeting a friend at that particular moment might not be wise.

As for Jack, it isn't said that he died in 2006, just that is when she started watching with him again. My theory is that is when she took possession of his ashes to watch again.

I mostly like him, but last night he did annoy me a bit. She told him over and over that watching Football alone was her thing. So to keep pushing and then have someone else there when she comes over, was a bit much for me. And then to pause the game to tell a story? The story couldn't wait until the commercial break?

I was very glad to see Jack on the mantle though, I didn't want him alive since we know Rebecca is remarried. That made me sniffle a little bit :-).

And Mandy Moore finally sings...but 2 whole lines??? Grrrr, can't we get a little more?

Same here! I like him mostly. But I wanted to knock some sense in him on this episode!
