This is us..

She said she started watching the Steelers again in 2006 whens she started watching with her Dad again, So he was alive in 2006, but they did not say that was when he died.

But was he alive when she started watching the games with him again? That's what I was wondering. Did she start after he died and by "with him" she meant with the ashes as she does now? Maybe his death is what prompted her to begin watching the games again.

DH and I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the latest episode last night. I agree that Toby was being being obnoxious in this episode. I usually like him, but not so much in this situation. At least he seemed like good old Toby again at the end when she finally opened up, but it shouldn't have come down to that.

William and Jack. Oh my goodness, I sobbed. And as DH pointed out, we probably have both the actual death scenes to look forward to later on. I'm not sure I can take that. These guys are two of my most favorite characters.

Two of my most favorite scenes of the episode involve Kevin. I love the wise, old owl scene with William and Kevin. That scene brought home for me the mysterious way life has of bringing two people together at just the right moment in time. My other favorite scene was the one with Kevin, the girls, and the painting. Jack would have been proud of Kevin's chat with the girls.

As usual, this episode leaves me wanting to rewatch to see if there's anything I missed the first time around. Oh, speaking of that, did the guy who walked up to the bar wearing the jacket and hat (not a baseball cap - a black, felt, low profile, newsie type hat) when Rebecca had that orange shirt on and was yelling at the game look like Terry Bradshaw to anyone else? I thought it was him right away so DH had me rewind so he could look. He, too, thinks it's a close enough resemblance to be a possibility. We need a larger tv, though, so we can pause and get a better look, but it really looks like it could have been him - just disguised with winter gear. It would make such a fabulous hidden moment if it were him. I can't find anything online supporting my theory, though.

Great questions. I am totally sucked in to this show!

This is one of those rare shows that we end up rewinding on DVR to rewatch something we missed as the show is going on. A couple times this week we got caught off-guard and jumped for the remote to make sure we saw it right (like Randall crying over William's stuff).

If I want to watch my team play and get pressured into attending a watch party, you better believe I'll be mad as heck if the host paused the game like that. Stories can wait. It's not like she asked them never to speak.

Toby pushed Kate to do something she didn't want to do then prevented her from watching the game which was the whole point. I'd have left too.

Google knows way too much about me and it is scary. It dropped a reminder in my feed about This is Us. The good news is, we haven't seen the last of William.

"7. The Best Washing Machine in the Whole World
Season 1 - Nov 15, 2016
William unexpectedly reveals a secret to Beth when they are together; Rebecca and Jack admit there's a distance between them; Toby strays from his diet."

The bad news is, no new episode on election night.

Probably just as well, we'll probably all be in the bathroom, vomiting.

My son's school is doing the PSAT tomorrow for grades 9-11. He's a senior, and they are going to one of the two local colleges while the other grades are taking the PSAT. We've already done college visits at both, and he knows where he wants to go, so I told him that he could stay home tomorrow morning to finish his applications. BUT only if he lets me watch This is Us in peace!

Tonight's episode hit a little close to home this week so I'm shocked I made it through it. When Kevin shared about the necklace I had to excuse myself and kind of break so I wouldn't break down. I lost my mom 13 years ago this week and for the longest all I had left wa as stuffed rabbit and a necklace. About 4 years ago the necklace was stolen and I still beat myself up over it. So yeah watching a television character have such a connection with a similar item was just a little too much. I really need them to not have the dad die too soon but I have a feeling they were pretty young with how they talk about it.

This show just gets better and better...

I don't even know where to start. I really think we are getting closer to seeing Jacks death. I think that will be the episode where I break down..it's going to be so painful to watch.

I watched the scene with Kevin in the kitchen with the widow like 10 times. The whole scene was so well done and when I was watching it for the third or fourth time I just became so aware of how quiet it was. There wasn't background noise, or music, just him talking. It was so loudly quiet if that makes any sense.

I think the show does so well because there's something everyone can identify with in each episode. This whole episode had me emotional. When Rebecca says, "No ice cream for me if you want to keep picking me up like that" and the look on Kate's face. Oh. Just wanted to hug her. The kitchen scene with Kevin was like a fist to the gut. And when Jack was talking to Randall in his office, tears. He's so good at validating what his kids feel even if he screws it up at first. The thought of them losing him is so heartbreaking.

OMG when Kate looked at the Moms size S shirt and her XL shirt, I just wanted to cry. I love Kate's story and to see how this seed of insecurity was unintentionally planted at such a young age. An young overweight child with a model-like mother. My heart was aching for her.

And don't get me started on Randall. That story is amazing. I just love how Jack will do anything for him. When Randall is an adult and struggling with is life's path.......then he says "my dad put on a tie because he had to, I do it because I want to." I just love William too, and I really wish we would have him for longer. I am going to be a mess when we lose him.

I wonder what will happen with Toby. Looks like he had another woman over from the previews.

Loved the scene in the kitchen with Kevin. Great episode. One minute I was tearing up :sad1: and the next minute I was laughing. Next week looks like it's going to be good.

Just tuning in...I am a huge fan of this show, so glad NBC replaced Parenthood with another quality tear-jerker. I don't think that I have watched an episode yet that has led me to feel the show is going to crash and burn.

With the previews from two weeks ago, I am now psyching myself up for the inevitable death scenes of both fathers, ughhh!

I'm glad they are showing more of Kevin , he really is like the middle child of a family. When he showed the necklace and said that is all he had left ....his was the only character I didn't like and I'm starting to now.

Randell remains my favourite. Love everything about his story. Being gifted and black back then tough life for him when he wants to fit in .Really that is what all the kids want to do fit in and be loved.

Kate , I can relate I too thought oh boy the mother didn't want ice cream or she would get fat and how that would make Kate feel. And looking at the size of clothes , I know myself I have done that myself. When she said she hates her mom , I thought I guess we only saw her mom visit Randell not the others.

Keeps getting better...must see TV for sure.
