This is us..

Agreed, everything about last night was great. Loved the Seth Myers cameo. That is a bummer that Rebeccas secret came out though, that is going to make for some really tough stuff next week.
I loved the very end when Kevin asked Randall to watch TV with him in the basement :-)
I'm not sure how Toby and Kate can stay together. It was so hard to watch her eat that donut :-(

So hoping that Kevin and Randall will find their way to their true bond as brothers. Pretty sure next week is going to make that road rockier -- and then if they ever get there it's liable to upset the balance with Kate and generate further problems.

Am I the only one who thought brownies was an off choice given the circumstances? Seems like smoking would have been easier.

I'm not looking forward to the fallout from the Rebecca-William story. And each week I become more attached to William. I wish there was a way to save him.

I got a good laugh when Kevin found out he was in the basement again. William's line about being sorry he couldn't help with the heavy stuff made sense then. That bit was pretty funny. Score one for Beth!

I still can't stand Miguel. That scene in the office made my skin crawl. How on earth could Rebecca ever fall for him? Gross!

I did think it slightly odd, but I guess she doesn't like to smoke? It was pretty funny when she told her daughter they were work brownies LOL.

It was funny. But I also felt that laugh was the reason for the brownie choice. Didn't feel real to me the way this show usually mines relationships and emotions deeply and honestly.

I was also thinking last night, how much I am loving William and how incredibly hard it's going to be when he goes. Even though they showed some aftermath, I am hoping they can keep him around for another season maybe??
Yeah, not too fond of Miguel either, how are they going to make us OK with them being together??

I would think the writers and producers must see what a great character/actor they have in William the same way the audience does. Given how this show presents timeline I see no reason why they can't continue to show us bits and pieces of William's time with Randall and family even once they present the death to us more fully -- at least I hope so.

I thought it was odd. When my mother was in chemo, I researched making my own, and it's a process. Actually found someone who made all types, but they were too strong for her, so we just gave her a pipe. She was eligible for legal medical marijuana, but passed away months before her appointment.

Ok, I was originally all for giving Miguel a chance, but it's getting more difficult every week. The scene with his assistant...yuck! There must be some redeeming qualities there, though, since Rebecca ends up with him.

I am so sad that William is going to eventually go. :( And Jack, too.

I definitely am much more understanding of Kevin now than I was in the beginning. It's so good how they are building the backstory and chipping away at some assumptions.

Kate and Toby have so much to work through, but I hope that the stick it out. I know how Kate feels, but it was so difficult to watch her eat that doughnut. Actually, most of Kate's scenes were difficult, but in a way that draws me in, not pushes me away.

As much as I don't always want to see all the flaws in some of the characters, I am glad that they are showing them and making this realistic. It would be feel good for everyone to always been "good" but not very interesting in the end.

This show really shows how important communication is in relationships. If only Kevin could have expressed himself better or others could have read the feelings behind his words/actions when they were growing up, they could have been much closer. And Randall is realizing that in his hurt, he also caused hurt.

I cannot wait for next week! I'm filling out a Nielsen diary starting Thursday, so I'm going to try to make sure that I can watch This is Us when it's actually on Tuesday night instead of just DVRing it.

I really enjoyed last night's episode.

I thought that too. Why didn't they just step outside and burn one?

I wondered the same thing -- why not just smoke it? But then I remembered that she was trying to get him to eat, so if it didn't wind up helping his appetite, at least she got some kind of food into his system by eating the brownies. Although, like @cabanafrau said, maybe the "work brownies" line was the reason for that choice. :)

I completely agree. I understood Kevin more last night than I ever have.

I'm sure this probably got brought up after the first or second episode, but did anyone have any theories on how Randall may have tracked William down? If he didn't have any info (and Rebecca kept it a secret), what did he have to go on? :confused3

Our cable system participates in Nielsen full-time, I assumed that's how it is done now. I do know that for the data collected digitally from the cable boxes DVR viewing generates ratings as well now. They do keep separate tallies of when the program is viewed within 3 days after broadcast I believe.

I really liked last nights episode. It was good to see the background of Randall and Kevin's relationship.

The pot brownie scene was so funny. Beth's laugh made me laugh so hard..I rewound that scene a few times lol

I, too, really like William and am not looking forward to seeing his demise.

I was mad at Toby and his restaurant behavior. I get that he gets to decide what he eats, but he assured Kate that they would have a healthy dinner. He could have picked a small dessert, some ice cream with strawberries, or mousse. They could each have had a couple of bites and then moved on. But he had to get the biggest, gooiest one on the menu and then devour it in front of her. I guess the behavior does show the issues they both have with food though.

So funny, for once I *wasn't* annoyed by Toby. He's a guy and he tried to do what he thought was the right thing and she insisted he have what he wants. A woman would have chosen something light to share but most guys take things like that at face value. In his head he had her "permission" to have whatever he wants, no guilt. We can't expect guys to just understand what we don't say. Kate needs to learn to make herself heard but more importantly she has to come to the realization that she alone is responsible for what she does or does not eat. I see so many people (myself included in the past) using not having someone to lose with as an excuse just not to do it. Even if everyone around you eats how you do excercises with you etc. weight loss is still a solo journey. You don't get right with yourself it'll never stick.

I thought it was rude of Toby to indulge in front of Kate, knowing what a struggle she's going through. If he wanted to indulge, he could have done it privately. Like she did later. He can be so sweet at times, but clueless the rest of the time.

Since Randall attended a pricey private school and Kevin attended the local public school, how did the two teams end up playing each other? Usually the public schools are much larger so they have more competitive athletes to draw from. Smaller schools play smaller schools, not the huge public schools.

I am going to go out on a limb here, and I hate to say it, but the way Jack was beating himself up last night I am wondering if he might spiral into a bad place.

I thought the best scene was the fight between Kevin and Randall. When Randall grabs Kevin and says, “I'm still black!” and they are getting up to run, I started cracking up. It was great how a bonding moment resulted from a fight in the middle of the street. That comment was a great wrap for the scene.

I think it's a brain tumor. He kept forgetting things, rubbing his head and seemed "fuzzy."
