In the YC is that little coffee/pastry counter near the convention check in desk always open? Is it basically bagels, muffins etc...????
I don't know if it's seasonal, but when we were there in early December, this area was open for a quick breakfast.

Silly question from a new member Kaitysmom! What is "bumping you up" mean? :confused3 Looks like we will be experiencing the Magic around the same time! We arrive in 25 days! :cool1: I am still wondering about the AP being activated at the Beach Club. I called them directly and they indicated this was possible. I guess we will just have to wait and see and hope that this is true!

I read somewhere that Stormalong Bay is under rehab and some sections may be closed. Does anyone who has been recently have any info

We were there last week and the sand bar area and a small section of the lazy river were all that was open. They are doing a lot of repainting. I "heard" that they should be finished at the end of the month, but I don't know how accurate that info is.

Hi Mickey's Mom - Bumping you up means that the thread goes up to the top in the listing so it won't "disappear" onto the next page.

I remember activating an AP a couple years ago and it was done at the park. Only took a minute. Your pass doesn't need to be activated at check-in, in fact they didn't even ask for it when we used the AP discount last time.

I hope SAB is done with the refurb when we get there!

It is open for breakfast on a daily basis - at least that's what it was like when we were there in 2003. I wasn't too thrilled with the selection but it'll probably due.

You may want to try the Yacht Club Galley. Getting a table is usually no problem, and the food and service is excellent. Prices are comparably reasonable. :)

Just back this evening from the YC. I think I have a new favorite resort! Complimentary upgrade to Lagoon view from standard view, wonderful room, 3063! Already in withdrawal mode. Only part of SAB was open, no slide. Can use the pool at boardwalk. Lots of scaffolding, think that the YC is getting exterior paint. Was told that the only place to fill my mug was B&C and the little breakfast area at the BC, no where at the YC at all. :( All in all a great trip although a bit nippy on Friday!

rcraw45424. .. any special tips on how to get the upgrade :goodvibes Did you happen to hear when SAB will be fully functional. I have told my DD all about the great slide! She will be soooo disappointed if it is closed. Also, how was the weather? Warm enough to swim? We leave the 2nd of March and I am hoping for some nice weather! :cool1: Thanks!

I had talked with SUe Ellen, my TA with Dreams Unlimited. She told me that she didn't think that the cost of the WV upgrade was worth it to pay. I had read here that many different things are concidered Water view at this resort, ie. canals and drainage ponds :earseek: I just figured we'd take what we were given since we just switched to the YC on the Saturday night before we were checking in on Wednesday. The check in CM, Tamara was really sweet. She told me that we were assigned a 1st floor room, was that okay? I WAS disappointed, must have shown on my face. I explained it was our first time at this resort, we usually stay over at the MK ones and would really like to be able tosee soemthing of hte property since we have another trip booekd for April 1st and might concider changing from CR to the YC. She does her magic at the keyboard and then says I've found you a really great lagoon view room if that's okay? On the way to the room th ebellman said that we'd be happy and we were. There is a full balcony that overlooks the boardwalk and the bay, the lighthouse was to our left. Right now SAB was partially open, just not the part with the slide. Guests are allowed to use the slide and pool at the Boardwalk, the keister coaster. It was warm enough to swim on Thursday, overcast and gloomy. Friday was cold as stink! It may have reached 50 with the wind chill. Saturday was a bit warmer, but breezy. Definitely take hoodies and or sweats, it shills down while you're waiting for the fireworks. Have a blast!

My wife and I are heading back to DW this May (I proposed in Dec 2002 in front of Cinderella's Wishing Well at the MK) and we are going to stay at the Yacht Club this time. We have a couple of questions. First, we want a Water View, but it's clear that not all water views are the same. Any recommendations on how to get the best rooms? And which ARE the best rooms? Also, we typically request a King Bed (we don't need two beds, thank you!) but I'm a little concerned about the Murphy Beds. Are all King beds there Murphy Beds? How comfortable are they? And is there a map with all of the rooms noted with King/Queen status? What's the secret to discerning which rooms have the full balcony versus (well, I'm not sure what the alternative is, but I know there *IS* a difference!). Any suggestions/thoughts/experiences are welcome and appreciated. And don't be afraid to make any other recommendations that I missed. Thank you in advance!

I think the best room on a budget is the Jr. Suite. These normally have the full balcony. We stayed in one at the BC. But it also had 2 queen beds.

Those king murphy rooms are called SICO's. Not all king rooms are this style. You can request a standard king room and then just double check when you register.

I've found that the term water view, can be subjective. As long as you can see a sliver of something wet from any vantage point in the room, it's deemed water view. I actually know of an excellent site that does show all the floors, room numbers and includes some details on a few of the rooms. YC Resort Map, just follow this link and about halfway down the page, you'll see pictures of each floor of the resort. Open anyone, move your cursor onto the picture to get the sizing tool (small square with arrows in the lower right of the picture), click on it and this will enlarge it enough to read all the fine detail.

Hope that helps.
