Not a DVC member yet, but we will be in September of 2002, hence the interest in taking the BCV pictures.

Thanks for posting the link over here, CaptainMidnight. Didn't have time to do it last night, and was coming over to do it now.

Enjoy!

Sigh.

I prepped a page of updated information last Thursday, but when I tried to put it up that night, i got "this page can not be displayed". I tried re-sending the information again (copy & paste), but no cigar. I tried Friday night...nothin. I was away from the computer all weekend (i was in Cape May on Saturday and in Philly until the wee hours on Sunday night)...last night, when I clicked on the link to get to this thread, i got "cannot find server". So, finally, i got through at 8:30 a.m. on DECEMBER 5TH. Gaah! And today, it doesn't look like I'm going to have any time other than the 90 seconds I am taking to write this. So, like always, I must ask y'all to wait. Thanks again,

JC

What a fabulous resort!!! It was all decked out in full Holiday Splendor.
Stayed in room 1157 (smoking room) just off the lobby. Straight on view of Crescent Lake, the Lighthouse and of course the Boardwalk resort and it was close to everything. I could also see the fireworks from Illuminations through and over the couple of trees ... one drawback was the broken ice machine that didn't work the whole time I was there 12-1 thru 12-6 so I had to go upstairs to that ice machine.

Check-in was smooth and efficient about 7:00am on the 1st and the cast member did ask to see my AP for my discount! One added bonus was that on Walt's B-day we received a commemorative newspaper envelope that is suitable for framing!

Eisner and his entourage were staying in Concierge... that is prolly why I didn't get the upgrade I asked for, Oh well... still had a great time. I'm already planning my next trip and YC will prolly be my resort!

Any questions please ask!

Just stopping in.

Finals week ends Dec. 19, and up to then I am studying like crazy. I'll try to plop the new stuff down sometime before then. If ANYONE has new information they would like to see added, EMAIL ME at jdiedwardo@enter.net. Thanks, and keep on making this forum what it is!

Oh...and could y'all direct me to a site where I could find some reports & pictures from discon?

JC

Just wanted to rescue this from page 5 and also to ask if anyone new the answer to my Stormalong Bay question? Does anyone know what time it closes the first week of January?

Thanks,
Sandy

FINALLY checking in with a small update, compadres.

Sorry to do this 2 weeks late, but these past 2 weeks seem like months, now that they're over. I had the flu for much of the first week of the month, which meant I had to cancel my students' Christmas recital...(we rescheduled for next Saturday)...yiye!

So, it's back to finals, rehearsals, more rehearsals, and finding enough stuff to put together for one update on this page. OK...
This place is due for a complete restructuring in 2002, when Pete changes the DIS again. BUT, I'm adding 2002 rates and additional information here and there based on the last few months of Q&A postings. Bad news is, I can't put pictures up again until I download the FTP (file transferring) software to this computer. So, we'll have to make do until then. Thanks for your continued bumping and interest!

Sooooo, does anyone know what changes Pete has planned for the Dis?

I was thinking the same thing. JC, what "inside info" do you have?

I plan on totally redesigning the GF FAQ, maybe we can have the FAQ's all ready for the day when the DIS is redone!

Hi
I just had a couple of questions:
I was looking at the 5th floor beach club concierge level floor plans and for the water view rooms it said dormer balcony is a full size balcony that pops up from under the eaves of the roof. Okay, so it is not a standing room only balcony--any photos of this balcony? I have stayed at the resort a number of times and we were always on the second floor with a full balcony and I can not remember what the 5th floor balcony looks like. Also, the Jr. suite type A, I was looking at room 4557--what type of balcony does that have--full or standing room? Also, if you book a Jr. suite type A, does that come with concierge services or do I need to pay additional to add on concierge? Thanks so much for any information you can provide!
Chris

Okay, I figured out what a dormer balcony is. Since the 5th floor rooms have pitched ceilings, the balcony pops out. Well, at least I answered one question! Looking forward to any additional information.

Just got back yesterday from a 9 night stay at YC Concierge. Can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it was. Our room was absolutely perfect !! We stayed in room 5161 which was a water view. And what a view it was !!!! We overlooked all of Boardwalk, part of Stormalong Bay and had a perfect view of Illuminations at night. My first morning there, I opened 1 eye and had a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. My first sleepy thought was "How the heck did I get to Paris?" I then realized where I was. LOL:D Oh how I will miss that view. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

The room was a smoking room, however my DH (who has a very sensitive nose) remarked that he could smell no trace of smoke at all. I did smoke on the balcony as we were right next to the Admiral's Suite and it was not occupied (Michael Eisner left the day we got there!!). Our neighbor to the right (5163) had a balcony that was around the corner of the building and faced the opposite direction (see Joe’s YC diagram link on the first page). The room was furnished with 2 double beds and a day bed and was more than enough space for DH and myself.

My MIL and FIL stayed in room 5179 which was also had an incredible water view. The room is located directly over the back entrance to the YC and directly in line with the lighthouse on the dock (a big plus for my MIL who is a lighthouse fanatic).

The concierge CM’s were magnificent !!!! They were miracle workers to say the least (they actually scored the impossible, Cindy’s PS on a Sunday morning for a party of 12 !!) Thank you to all of the CM’s who were soooooo helpful with my MIL (a feisty elderly lady with health issues). The Concierge CM’s were so accommodating and considerate. A special thanks and Hi to Teresa, Betty, Angel and Emmy !!!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away !!!!

I am finally back at my computer after a 3 week vacation. The middle week we were at
YC - and what a WONDERFUL week it was!! I cannot say enough about the YC Concierge - it exceeded all of my expectations. Betty, Teresa, and some others- so sorry I forgot the names- were just fantastic. They all bent over backwards to be sure we had everything our hearts desired. Service was simply the best. The food in the concierge lounge was excellent- my only slight complaint would be that by around 9:30 (they close at 10) the evening treats were pretty much gone - they did not replenish that late, which was a disappointment a couple of evenings when we came in weary and looking forward to a drink and a piece of cake, thinking that since they were open til 10... oh well. That said, really and truly, it was fantastic. If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to respond. I can't wait to go back!!! I'll post a thread on this on the board separately as well for those who don't subscribe to this one.

Jody:

I'm soooo sorry that I missed you. I kept looking for two little redheaded children and lime green ribbons. LOL. Sounds like you had as wonderful of a time as we had. Although it's hard to believe anyone could miss my DH. He had to move his Mom's ECV from our room down to the lobby everyday for her and he did make rather a spectacle of himself with his Santa Ears on. He also managed to get chased around the lobby by Capt. Hook one morning.

I can't agree with you more about the service at YC Concierge. Just spectacular !!!!

I know! I looked for you too - didn't see a single lime green ribbon my whole trip! :-(
Still can't believe you didn't see the redheads - LOL - they weren't quiet either!
On the 7th, we had a little birthday party for my Mom (provided by the concierge - they surprised us by sending a gorgeous chocolate cake, a picture of a whole bunch of characters "signed" by pooh and friends, party hats, horns and pom poms) in the lounge. the boys got a little roudy with the horns so I made them move it to the room!
Actually the party stuff arrived at the room the day before, but we waited to use it til we were all together - they were glad to keep the cake in the fridge.
Anyway, I am so spoiled now! How will I ever go back to the All Stars after experiencing this!
By the way, Michael Eisner and his entourage stayed at the YC Concierge during the 100th birthday - they did not "fraternize" with guests at all. He seemed ill at ease and just popped in and out of the lounge, always accompanied by security and "handlers".
But I guess if they were there that "proves" it's the best place to stay on property!!
(Just kidding - it's still a matter of taste.... )

We stayed at the BC for the first time at the end of November - and as a totally devoted All Stars fan, I have to say... I just can't see me staying at the All Stars again! :D I am spoiled now! Absolutely loved the pool... and our room, wow... it was one where if you leaned just a little out of the balcony, it became a waterview!

The only dilemma is... for my next trip, do I stay with BC or try something else, Contemporary, Poly, GF...

I really liked the walking distance to EPCOT... but who knows, I might even like the monorail even better!

4merlurker... I have some pics of the balconies if you haven't seen any yet. I'm at work, but I will scan them tonight. Do you have an email address I can send them to, or do you know how I would include one in a post?

Orky15,
I finally found some photos of the balcony and now I remember them! Thanks anyway for offering your photos!
Chris
