Chele -- your BIL is totally uncouth according to today's appropriate period of mourning. However, like Kelly said, if he is the type that just can't seem to function w/o having someone else do a lot of things for him, I can see how he could be taking his grief and loneliness and inferring them onto this new woman as his "saviour".

But to announce that on FB? Tacky.

He could have a heart to heart discussion privately with a close friend or family member. But not on FB.

And like Cheri (Betsy? Carla? sorry, I forget who said it) said, it's just a rebound relationship. Something to fill the time and loneliness.

But it's also eerie that she is like Kathy...but maybe he just has a "type" that he likes.

Grief does strange things. I know it's not the same thing AT ALL! but only about one week after my cat of 15 years was put to sleep, we bought 2 new pets (sugar gliders). Some could say we were trying to fill the void of Butterscotch with new pets that soon.

I'm sorry you and Steph are dealing with this.

An interesting little thing. When Stephanie called earlier she asked if Scotty was off today. Josh had a present for him. He has been working in a sports energy suppliers warehouse and he got Scotty a box of protein bars. I was amazed to see the generosity. And he was social too!!

Now maybe I am wrong but it has not been six months since Kathy died. I think that he is rushing things a bit. Am I wrong? This is same person that just last week or the week before was telling my mom how grief stricken he still was.

It seems that a lot of men just can't be alone. In my book of grief it says a mans average grieving period before remarriage is 1 year a womans is up to 3 years of just grieving. I myself am not even thinking of dating much less remarriage. Shannon is a huge part of my life Always will be and at this time I am still trying to get used to the fact he is physically not here. But from what you said it looks like your BIL is trying to fiil the void especially if she's a lot like your sister. I'm sorry for all of you that he's putting ya'll through this. I have a feeling he doesn't even realize it. He's thinking of himself.

I definitely found myself going "yup, that's right" to all of your comments. He doesn't want to be alone. When my uncle died years ago, my aunt went crazy...she handled it by spending money, and going out. She went to the clubs almost every night. After several months, I don't think there was EVER a period where she was NOT dating someone.

I think Stephanie needs to be up his butt as much as she can. Maybe having family around a lot will help him feel like he's not alone and not want to go out and meet women.
