Note what I bolded, so this woman left a SEVEN YEAR OLD alone at a concert.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Police cited a Lincoln woman who dropped off her 9-year-old daughter at Tuesday's Miley Cyrus concert and then headed to a casino.

Other parents at the concert noticed the girl alone yet hanging around other groups, said Sgt. Meg Fricke.

The mother, Lesslie Martinez, dropped off the girl and instructed her to find an usher to get her to her seats, Fricke said. The mother's plan was to return top the Qwest Center around 10 p.m.


The girl, afraid and hungry, sought a Qwest Center security guard.

Arena personnel took the girl to concessions and then returned her to her seat for the show. A worker stayed in eye-contact range with the girl throughout the show, said Qwest Center spokesman Doug Parrott.

"Qwest Center Omaha does not provide chaperone service or day care services," Parrott said

The girl's mother told police she dropped off the girl two years before at another Miley Cyrus concert and had no problem.
Fricke said other parents noticed the girl after the opening act.

Martinez was cited for misdemeanor child neglect.

What makes me sick is the mom was only "cited" and not arrested. This should be felony neglect. Not a misdemeanor. I wonder if the girl had been kidnapped, raped or murdered if the mom would have been brought up on more serious charges.

What??? That is clearly insane. I wouldn't even let my 9 and 8 year old DD's go into the bathroom at a concert on their own, never mind the concert itself. This woman clearly should not have custody of her children if she thinks that is ok. I really feel bad and scared for her child. Those children's concert is a pedophile's dream.

Some people should not be parents..period. Just because God gave you the equipment does not mean you have the intelligence to use it.

Some people will dump their kids anywhere and with anyone if they get a chance with no second thoughts to their well-being or safety.

But you hear so much about things like this happening now it really does not even shock me anymore to hear it...it still makes me angry but does not surprise me.
