This is Literally The Best Trip Ever! *Complete 11-10*

Hey STL ladies, are we still good for tomorrow? I am really looking forward to it! West Country mall play area correct? What time works for all? We usually nap around 2:00 and we get up around 8:30 or 9:00 but we are super flexible!

I am so excited to meet you ladies in person! :cool1:

I'm still good for tomorrow! So excited! We usually nap around 1 and we are done dropping kids at school by 8, so we're good at any time. Does 10 work?

10 is perfect for me!! West county mall? Or a park? High is 63 tomorrow but chance of rain.

If I'm not needed for my extra shift tonight, myself and my youngest DD (2 1/2) may be able to join you! I'll let you know!

Whoohoo!!! Hope it works out!

And I'll be wearing a Disney shirt so you'll know its me :) I have an orange city mini stroller :)

Just wanna say, I really enjoyed our meetup and I hope we can do it again sometime soon!! :)

I'm joining in! I have only made it through the third day but I'm enjoying it. I really enjoy reading TRs with young kids. We recently took our DS2.5 (and DD 5 mo) to wdw and it was so fun! I love seeing and experiencing wdw through the eyes of a 2 year old.
I love the pictures of your daughter on the safari. She's adorable. And her clothes are so cute!

Thank you! I am glad to have you along! I love reading trip reports with the little ones too! It really is a very different experience! I am going to check your report as well, I can't wait to see how your 2 year old trip went!

So I am going to try and wrap this up tonight. Our last day was not too eventful and sadly I did not take very many pics, so I am sorry for the text heavy update!

DH and I were up around 8, and finished packing. We got ready for the day and woke Charlotte around 9:15. By 9:30 we were all ready to go so we called for a bellman. He was there in about 15 minutes, he picked up our bags and took us and our luggage to airline check-in in a golf cart. Something confusing was going on with our flight home because I got a text saying our flight was delayed by 2 hours while we were the golf cart on our way to the GCH. When we got to airline check in they said our flight was on time again, :confused3. I am not a real frequent flyer so this made me nervous. I did not want to miss our flight but I did not want to be stuck in the airport delayed for hours on end either. So, I began obsessively checking the Southwest website on my phone. The flight time kept changing. But by 11am it was back to being on time and stayed that way the rest of the day.:sad2:

So, while I was still obsessing about our flight we went up to have breakfast at Kona Cafe. There was no wait at all and there were plenty of open tables. We ordered the famous press pot and we both got Tonga Toast. I had mine with fruit and DH had sausage. My DH LOVES coffee and was so excited to try this, it did not disappoint. I got one cup and he had the rest! We were so excited to try the Tonga toast. I have a Disney cookbook and the recipe is in that, so I made it at home once and it was good. I was really looking forward to trying the real thing. All I can say is WOW, that is good stuff. And the strawberry sauce that comes with it, is perfect! Its kind of tart and balances the sweetness of the toast. Charlotte must have thought it was good too because she ate almost 1/2 of mine. We were in and out of Kona in about 30 minutes and we left thinking why would anyone ever leave the Poly to eat. All the restaurants there are the best!

After our breakfast we went straight to the monorail. We were going to spend our remaining hours in Disney at the MK! We did not really have a plan as most of our must do's were already done. We saw Marie greeting right at the entrance and DD wanted to meet her so we stopped:

Then, we started walking through adventure land. It was super crowded and all the lines were really long! I got a Splash Mountain FP for myself, and DH wanted to get a BTMRR FP but the ride was down (and would be the entire time were there that day :sad1:) I have always loved Splash Mountain, but my DH hates drops and generally does not like to ride it. He also hates roller coasters, but when we were dating we took a trip to Disney Land and I talked him into trying BTMRR and he loved it. It became a must do for him and we had not gotten around to riding it this trip. He was pretty sad about that!

After, that business was accomplished, we checked on Peter Pan again, the line was really long and the FP return time was cutting it too close to our ME pick-up time so it was a no-go. Oh well, something to save for next time. So, we decided to just wonder around New Fantasy Land a while. We found ourselves here:

So we decided to stop in and try a Lefou's brew. The inside of Gaston's is amazing. I can not believe the details! I loved it. We used snack credits to purchase two brews and paid for one in a souvenir cup. My DH is a sucker for a souvenir cup! All three of us LOVED this drink. I know it gets mixed reviews, but it is very good. Sweet and cool, perfect for a hot day.
DD wanted to take a closer look at the fountain:

After our relaxing drink DH and I thought another spin on the People mover would be nice so, that is what we did. I can not believe we waited until this trip to ride this one, it's so fun!
After the People Mover we made our way back to Frontier Land only to see that BTMRR was still closed. We hung around there for awhile until my FP return time. I rode Splash Mountain which was awesome as usual!

After my ride we started making our way towards the front of the park. We stopped for one last PP pic:

We had three more meal credits so we wanted to use them up. I hated to use a deluxe credit on a QS meal but it was better than not using it at all so we stopped in Casey's. We love hot dogs and I have always wanted to try this one out. DD and I both got the regular hot dog meal and DH got the Chicago dog. We took our desserts to go. This was a really good last Disney meal. I wish we would have stopped here before. The fries and hot dogs were amazing and the cheese sauce made them even better! After eating we stopped at the Emporium to get some candy to use up our last snack credits. We got several bags of Mickey gummies, and some Minnie cookies for DD to have on the plane. We watched the last bit of the parade and made our way to the monorail. We got right on and yes I cried a little. I could not believe this amazing vacation was over! Once we arrived at the Poly we got our carry-ons and used restroom and before we knew it we were on the ME. The ride the airport was uneventful. At the airport Charlotte fell asleep in the stroller which would end up being very bad! We waited for our flight and about 15 minutes before boarding Charlotte woke up and was hysterical crying! I finally got her to calm down, but I could tell this flight was going to miserable. She got just enough rest to not want to sleep more, but not enough rest to feel good. DH boarded with the "A" group and Charlotte and I boarded with the ''B" group. When we got on the plan we saw that DH had scored the front row for us! Perfect at least DD would not kick the seat in front of us! But as soon as our plane took off she started crying again and would not stop. I had no idea how to stop her, being stuck on a plane with a child mid-tantrum was the worst feeling I have ever had! The flight attendants suggested we let her sit on the floor and play with her toys. That worked, she did not cry the rest of the flight! During landing they did not make us get her off the floor for fear she would start crying again:sad2: I was a little embarrassed and felt very helpless with that entire situation. That 2 hours was so bad we decided that we will be driving (16 hours) next time we got to WDW. Yes, it was that bad! Our flight came in on time and we were home by 9 pm. The trip may have had a few bumps but, for us, it was literally the best trip we had ever taken!

I thought I would end this TR with some of my final thoughts.

On taking a 2 year old to WDW:
For us two was the perfect time to take Charlotte for the first time. We love Disney and know that for as long as we can we will be taking trips every 2-3 years. So we did not have intentions for this to be a once in a lifetime type trip. Before we left we had so many people telling us we were crazy for taking such a young child, but we are so glad we did not listen. There are so many reasons to take a 2 year old. They are so amazed by everything, every detail takes on a whole new meaning when you watch a two year old experience Disney. I saw the magic of WDW in a whole new light as I watched Charlotte experience it! Plus there is that added bonus they are free!:yay:
With that said, if you are considering taking a young child for the first time, be prepared for a very different trip than you are used to! DD would become fascinated with the smallest details, things I would have never noticed. But, while you are spending time looking at those details you are taking away time from other things. We missed a lot of the things we always do at WDW because of the time we spent on things DD liked. We really enjoyed seeing things from her perspective, but, I just want others to be aware of that! Also, everything takes longer with a little one in tow so that makes it hard to go go go while there. I am sure some will disagree but, I did not push DD to hurry here and there. We had a very leisurely trip and you know what? It was awesome! That brings me to my next thought...

Rope Drop and Early Mornings
When I was planning my trip I read lots of TRs that made me feel like I was totally going to miss out if we missed rope drop. My DH was not on board with lots of early mornings while on vacation. So, we had a kind of we'll get there when we get there mentality. It really worked for us. Sure, we missed a few things, but that just gives us a reason to go back!:cheer2: DH and I decided that next trip we might still do a before park opening breakfast at MK, but then after our mid-day break we will just hang around our resort instead of going back to the park. I am not saying there is anything wrong with rope droppers or anything just that it is not for us and if you are reading this and you know your family is the same way, don't feel bad! I can see why people love rope drop, you can get a lot done in a short time. For us however, it is a once or twice in the vacation thing, not an everyday thing.

The Resort
I have said this before and I will say it again, I am fine with sleeping in my car as long as it is on Disney property! I still feel that way. If the only way I can get back to Disney is in a value resort I will gladly stay there! But, I really loved the Poly and think it is worth the extra cost! Everything about it was amazing, the real world totally melted away for DH and I the entire time we were there. The monorail, extra space in the room, etc made the vacation that much better! DH and I both feel that we would rather go every 2-3 years and stay in a deluxe (however stay tuned for my next PTR, because we are thinking Ft. Wilderness cabins next time!). We have really cut back in our spending to save $$$ to get back!

The Deluxe Dining Plan
Lots of people have lots of opinions about the DP. Personally, we love it! We like knowing that our food is paid for upfront and we can order what ever we like and not worry about the cost. We really enjoyed ourselves on the DxDP. We had so many really awesome meals and I can not really say we had a single bad meal. We did 4 2 credit meals, and only had 2 ADRs per day. That may seem like a lot but we went in the hot, crowded time of the year and we loved knowing we had a table in the air conditioning waiting for us. It was a nice break. It was also nice since we did not have to purchase the dining plan for DD there was always plenty for her to have off of my plate. We did not have to purchase any extra meals for her. I know we will not always do the Deluxe Dining Plan, but we will every once in a while!

The Last Week in July
Since DH is a teacher we really do not have much choice as to when we can go. Even in the summer his schedule is jam packed! The week we went was the only full week DH had off all summer so we had no choice. In, other years DH would take off a week of summer school or not go to workshops so we could go in June. Now, that I am a Stay at home Mom, we no longer have the luxury of skipping a few days here and there. With that said, that week was not too bad. The prices are lower starting the last week in July, so that was great. The parks were crowded, but we experienced much worse in June. Yes, it was hot and humid, but we drank lots of water and took several breaks a day and it was manageable! So, we like the last week in July. I wish we could go during the off season, but since we can't its a good option for us.

So overall, we had a great trip. I have loved sharing it with you all and I am so sad that I am done with my TR! I am going to start my PTR for our July 2015 trip very soon! I know its early, but these really help me with the Disney blues. Thanks so much for reading along and I hope you check out the new PTR when I get it going!

We're heading to WDW with our two year old in 3 weeks. I really appreciate your thoughts in going with one. I have been thinking it would be a different trip and sort of like what you described so I'm glad to see someone else with a good experience!

Hopefully our flights go smoothly though. We couldn't bear the thought of a 16 hour drive so we kept searching for airfare and finally found a good deal but if it doesn't work we'll probably drive next time.

I was so sad when I saw your TR pop up as complete! that went way too quickly!!

the last day at the parks is always so bittersweet, isn't it? fun, but sad.....

we can't wait to try some lefou's brew! I don't know why we skipped it last trip, but it's for sure on the list this time!

i'm so sorry charlotte had a rough flight back. that's never fun. I can't believe you're going to try driving next time, but I can't wait to hear how it goes since my DH always wants to try driving. not driving is one of the reasons I love staying on property. I drive so much during "real life" that not having to do it is like heaven!

I like your final thoughts. I agree with you on rope drops and the dining plan. we can't make it for rope drops. not yet anyway, maybe when the kids are bigger, but for now, we're ok with that. last time we saw the opening show at MK once, and on accident, and that was good enough for us. and we love the dining plan! I love not having to worry about paying for things when we're there. we did deluxe last time and are trying regular this time to compare so we'll see what we think.

since I can't get enough of that cute charlotte, you know i'll be there whenever you start your next PTR! great TR!

Awww - so sad it's over! I loved following along on your TR. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you for writing such a lovely TR, I really enjoyed seeing WDW through a little ones eyes :goodvibes

I loved your final thoughts and whereas we're reaching the end of our family vacations yours are just starting so enjoy every moment :)

I enjoyed reading your trip report. My son was the same way with the face characters our last trip, was super shy around them, but loved all of the furry ones. We have an opposite touring style of your family, love rope drop and don't like to spend time eating. I would die if I got to a park around 11am! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. There is definitely more than one way to skin a Disney cat.

Also, don't let one bad flight scare you from flying again. Kids just have their moments, as she gets older she will become less sensitive to missing naps, and will be better able to control her emotions when she's tired. She's just 2.
