We've got a trip in Dec planned 1br at BWV for us (wanted a 2br, couldn't get it) and a studio for my dad at SSR, and still have almost 1 years of points left because of the double dp. We're already pulling the kids out of school for the Dec trip and for a family wedding in Oct. We just can't find another way to use the points. So....
I called MS this morning to see if we could possibly get Labor Day weekend at HHI :lmao: I mentioned that we were just trying to find a way to use up our developers points because they expire in January and the CM told me they were good for 12 months. I told her when we bought in June we were told 7 months, she said that they have been told that all of the dp's will be good for 12 months from contract date and you can book at the 7 month point.

Has anyone else been told this? Has anyone seen it in writing? If this is true, then I'm on :cloud9:

We were told that the double points were good for one year. They have a seven month booking window, but if we had gotten them, they would have been good until next August.

We bought June 15th and our contract says DP's expire in 7 months, of course 2 weeks later is when they started offering the 12 months. The CM I spoke with this morning seemed to be absolutely certain about us being able to use the points for 12 months now, and I asked several times. I just worry because the contract says 7 months and I don't have anything in writing to say otherwise.

I would love to hear from anyone that has 7 month DP's that has been told they're now good for 12 months. I'm really hoping my CM wasn't crazy or just plain wrong.

Very interesting! I got my points in the beginning of July so my contract says 7 months also. I still have 40 points left after my "blow the developer's points" weekend in October. I would also be real interested to find out if anyone has been successful with this since I could use them for part of my May trip. :dance3:

What are developer's points? Just wondering how you got double points!

What are developer's points? Just wondering how you got double points!

Developer's points are a special incentive that the DVC has been running for part of this year to encourage more sales. Basically, for AKV & SSR, if you bought at least 100 points, you are given the option of either a cash discount or developer's points. The developer's points are an extra set of points for 7 months or 1 year depending upon when you bought. They are equal to the number of points that you bought in 1 year. Double developer's points gave you twice the number of points.

So, let's say that you bought a contract for 160 points at AKV. If you selected the developer's points option, you would get:
2007: 160 points plus 160 developer's points
2008 & following years: 160 points each year.

In the case of double developer's points, with the above example, in 2007 you would get 160 points plus 320 developer's points.

The catch with the developer's points is that they can't be banked at all. So you use them or loose them.

Here is an update for me. I called member services today and I asked when my developer's points expire. The CM put me on hold for a minute or so and then came back and said that they expire a year from my purchase. :dance3: I bought my add-on in the beginning of July and my documents definitely say 7 months on my DPs. So this is awesome! I still have 40 points left that I was planning on just losing because my splurge trip in October (2 bedroom for only 3 of us -- yes we all wanted our own beds  ) only used 160 points. So now, I just have to wait until the 7 month mark and I will use up the 40 points on a couple of nights during my May trip. Yeah!!!! Another 40 points to bank. :woohoo:

 Congratulations Donald is #1!

I will be calling Friday to see if I can get a spring break ressie, I'll feel a lot better about the extension of my points expiration once I have a confirmation letter.

Are you sure it is only based on buying at least 100?? I thought all new contracts had to be 160 and I also thought that all add ons recieved DD points even if you got 25?????

DD points are available if you add on at least 100 points or if you buy a new contract 160 points minimum.

:woohoo: Well, I'm very happy to report that I was able to book a trip for spring break with my dp's (that were supposed to expire in Jan) :woohoo:
I really appreciate the change, we would not have been able to use half our ddp's if not for the extension. TY, TY MS!
