I've never had an issue getting a car rental employee to look at my phone for a confirmation. I download coupons and everything on my phone to be scanned. I think you just got a bad employee... that happens.

I'm sure it was just someone having a bad day, which happens sometimes. And which is why I'll now take five seconds to print out a piece of paper and bring it along.
