This Is A Poncho-Free Zone!--May 22-29, 2010 PTR (New PTR!!!! 5/31)

Hi Becky,

I am finally all caught-up with your PTR and just wanted to say, "Hi!" Also, I totally thought of you when I was perusing the Disney Store website last night and saw this University of Alabama Mickey onesie http://www.disneystore.com/disney/store/DSIProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&productId=1263549&catalogFromSearch=10002&catalogId=10002&categoryId=308400&isSingleMatch=true&ddkey=http:DSIProductDisplay I know you don't have a baby, but thought you'd get a kick out of seeing it -- maybe they'll do one in the future for bigger kids!

Hi Becky,

Ha! Looks like I'm a little slow on the uptake, as I see that somebody beat me to the punch with that onesie, oops!

Oh Becky! I am so sorry I have been behind on your PTR...and sorry I was here not here for you as you look for that new house! But I am here now, and praying for you guys - you'll know when you see it that it's the right one for you.

A true story to (hopefully) make you feel better. My parents were selling their house 2 years ago and were worried about how long it would take to sell. They did a ton of work to it but it was a little higher price point than others in their neighborhood so they didn't know how fast it would move. Well, low and behold, there was a family in our neighborhood with 4 little ones - they had always wanted to see the inside of the house - so they came in during an Open House and they bought the house!!! And they lived only a few blocks away from us!!!

I know that's different than your story (selling vs buying) but it just reminds me at times not to get too worried, these things have a way of working themselves out and I just know things will turn out great for you. I'll be thinking of you, I just know it will all work out!! :cheer2:

Subscribing! I hope this year's trip is a lot drier than last year's (loved your trip report and your girls are as adorable as ever!!)!

Holy Cow! How have I been missing your PTR for so long? :confused3 Sorry, Becky!! I'm here now though and have enjoyed reading through all of your plans! :thumbsup2 The girls are adorable, of course!! :lovestruc Claire's hair is getting so long, soon she'll have hair like Ally! I read on FB that you just bought a new home, congratulations!! :woohoo: We want to sell our house, but the housing market here is so horrible that our house is worth less than what we owe on it right now. Ugh!! So frustrating! Anyway, you're trip is just around the corner, can't wait to hear about the final details!

Hi Becky,
I'm all caught up again on TR. Been so busy lately with packing up the house and going through closets again. These kids grow out of clothes so quickly. So sorry you have been stressed trying to find a house. I don't understand how people live the way they do :scared1: it's just nasty. I must have looked at 30 homes before finding one that almost a fit. Not 100% what I wanted but close enough. We are closing on the 23rd. Hopefully your house sells quickly too. I think moving to the new home first is a good idea and less stressful for your family. Not fun having to leave a couple times a day to have people in your house looking around and getting your carpets dirty. Unfortunately we needed to sell ours first. Anyway I saw the good news on your FB page ;) and already commented over there. But I have to say  so happy for you. Your going to be one busy girl!

Hey Becky sorry to hear about the house hunting! I know it sucks. Try doing it in 8 days! Haha! But I hope you find the home of your dreams! Or at least a stepping stone to the home you really want.

Hi Becky,
I see from above that you purchased the new house. Congrats to all of you! Your trip is coming so close. I'm not sure if I told you or not but we're going 10 days before you! Update us when you get a chance.
P.S- Are you excited for Glee on Tuesday? I know I am.:dance3:

Hi Becky! Remember me? I am your Alabama friend. Roll Tide! We followed each other's reports last year on here. I am so excited you get to go back for a redo. Hope the weather behaves! We are skipping this year because we ae having a big family reunion at the beach in Deleware and then heading up to Boston and Cape Cod to see my DH's family. That will be a great trip. So I started my PTR for NEXT May. I couldn't help myself. I am seriously considering using your travel agent. I assume you have stayed with the same one for this trip, right? You already gave me her contact info. Anyway, count me in. I'm subbing. Better late than never. Oh yeah, we had our baby in September. He is such a joy. Go to my PTR for a pic or go to my facebook page. Erin Sharkey Percy.

Hi there Becky! :wave2:

After lurking on the boards for over a year, I finally decided to register so I can contribute! I read your first PTR when I was preparing for my trip last June. My niece is about the same age as your older daughter, I think! (She will be six in August.) Anyways, I came back on disboards a few months ago to nurse my post-Disney Depression and here you are planning your next trip! So exciting!

Just wanted to say hi! I know you're leaving very soon but I hope it's not too late for me to subscribe to this thread. (If I can figure out how to, lol.) Sounds like you've been a busy bee lately but I hope you've still been able to enjoy your planning!

Hi Becky! Wow, what a whirlwind you are in right now. I have been following on FB, & I am so happy for you & all that is going on. Just wanted to say hi! :goodvibes

Hey Becky! I am not privy to your Facebook, but hope all is going ok with the house. Post an update when you can!:)

PLEASE forgive me for not updating sooner but amongst all of the house hunting BOTH of my computers died (my laptop AND my desktop)! Uggh!! I have been in DIS withdrawals and have missed ya'll soooo much!! I have so much catching up to do!! So I've had BOTH computers fixed, moved into a new house, and just got internet back today!! So I just had to run over here and update ya'll on what's happened this last month!!

Where did I leave off?! Well, there was that house that I just loved but was unsure about everything. So my realtor took me out looking several more days and we pretty much looked at every house in this area that was in or below our price range. And I just kept going back this house that I had told you about. Brent saw it and loved it, too!! So we decided to make an offer (this was March 30th). The lady countered back the next day and we countered back again. (the lady who was the previous owner had moved to Boston b/c her husband died--apparantly he did not have life insurance and left her with nothing) So her realtor came back and told us that her last counter was as low as she could go for her to be able to break even. Brent was a little cautious b/c he wanted to be sure the home was worth the price she was asking. Well everything worked out--we accepted her offer on May 5th (due to Easter weekend) and the home ended up being assessed for more than what we paid!!!!!! :woohoo: It was kind of a whirlwind after that. Brent left to go to India on May 5th and was gone until May 15th. And then we closed on May 16th!! So I packed up the entire house (with help from friends and family) and did all of the financial things that had to be completed before closing. It was insane!! I met with all sorts of people: the lender, insurance rep, inspection guy, etc. (Brent is the one who does all of the financial things so it was a bit stressful) Then Brent almost didn't make it home due to the volcano that errupted in Iceland on May 15th. But his plane left the Amsterdam airport TWO hours before they closed down the airport!!!! God was in control--and that was for sure!! (I had a friend who was stuck over there for more than a week before he got to come home) So Brent made it home and we closed on the house the next day and immediately started moving things in! (and I forgot to mention that on May 15th my grandmother--my last living grandparent--passed away--she lived in New Jersey so I was not able to see her before she died--what a week it was!) On Saturday my parents, Brent's parents, and a bunch of friends from our Sunday School Class helped us move! We were able to get so much done in very little time! (our old house is only about 5 minutes from our new house so we just kept making trips back and forth after the movers got all of the big furniture set up) Then we spent Sunday getting our old house ready to be put on the market (cleaned everything, yardwork, etc.). Then the next few days our realtor had painters paint the entire house a neutral tan, paint outside, restain our front door, etc. She also had a landscaper redo the flowerbeds and had the carpets professionally cleaned. The house looks great and our house went on the market on Thursday night! So we are praying it sells quickly--the goal is to have it sold before our trip to Disney. We have had 2 showings--one on Sunday (couple decided they wanted a new construction) and one yesterday (haven't heard yet from my realtor the feedback).

Anywho, YAY if you've made it this far! Here is the Facebook link to pics of our new house before we moved in (the first few are pics from the real estate listing of the home): http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=53791&id=1035906284&l=bd08123d4f.

And here are my pics from our Easter weekend: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=53347&id=1035906284&l=d98662e615.

Sorry for the links but these were the 2 folders of pics I lost when I got my computer fixed (everything else is on the external hard drive).

So I'm pretty much all unpacked and we are LOVING this house!! Brent painted Ally's room pink last weekend and will paint Claire's room this weekend. And we plan on finishing the playroom as soon as our other house sells! Please pray for a quick sale!!

So now I can get back to Disney planning! It's hard to believe that our trip is only a few short weeks away!!! Soooo excited!

I'm so glad everything worked out for you! That's so great about your new house. Also great news that Brent was able to make it home before they closed the airports. I'm off to check out your pics now. Our trips are so close! Only 19 days for me. :goodvibes

P.S. I'm guessing when you say "May" you mean April-May isn't here quite yet! :rotfl:

Boy, have you been busy!! Your new home looks wonderful, and as always your girls are adorable...sending up a prayer for a quick sell on your old house. Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

I am glad you are able to get back online Becky! Thank goodness Brent could get home safe and sound. I read on FB about his mother--I am sorry she is gone. Praying your house sells quickly!

Hi, Becky!! I've been following along on FB, but am so glad you are able to post here again! You've been so busy-- I didn't know Brent almost got caught in the airport closings! Thank the Lord he made it home!
So sorry about your grandmother:hug: At least she was able to meet your girls + have a long life.
I will most certainly be praying for a quick sell! I'm sure there's a little family just waiting to find your home!!
