Ladies and gentlemen,
If we judged all the musicians in the world on their morality, there wouldn't be any left. Just appreciate the music that you like and move on. Some of my favorite music (Paul McCartney) would never align with other views I have. That's just life.

The brain damaged football players is really cutting down on the number of youth that play. When you have NFL players say they will never let their kids play you know the league has a problem. They will still get players in the NFL but they will be increasingly from other countries like baseball where most of the players are born outside of the US.
Boxing is decreasing in popularity as well. Is hockey going the same way?

This.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone super squeaky clean in any form of entertainment. Snoop may have been a thug at one point but he's done very much good since then. I'd hate to be automatically judged for something I was 30 years ago.
Not to mention how drug charges have been systematically used against people of a certain race over the last 40 years.

In my area Football is alive and well so I don't know if it is just my area or what. And for what its worth I am the one who has had multiple concussions from play soccer and not my football player.

I totally agree that you can get concussions from soccer. But the leagues around the world are trying to make the sport safer faster than the NFL.

So many kids play football and many have dreams of being in the NFL. Football culture is alive and kicking. My youngest son started to play in 7th grade not because he didn't want to play as a kid but I refused to give up my August for youth football. I never bought into the football culture, but the other parents around me definitely drank the kool aid. I like all sports and will watch sports before any tv shows.

Gambling is another reason football will be around for many years.
Mine started tackle in 3rd grade, but played flag before that. We totally drank the kool aid lol. But we are the kind of people who got married at an NFL stadium so theres that :rotfl2:
However I did refuse to give up my summer for them to play baseball. Fortunately, neither of them were that disappointed. Fall and winter sports are cool bc we arent doing anything else anyway.
Unless something has changed in the past couple of years, football participation is declining...

I think this has more to do with parents being worried about concussions and such than kids not wanting to play. My boys have several friends who want to play but their parents won't let them play contact sports of any kind. I guess they love their kids more or something lol (I kid, Its a joke I promise)

This... And in certain areas, drug/gang lifestyle is just a way of life. Kids don't know anybetter in some cases, I'm not going to condem someone for choices they made when they were young.

My kid got his one an only concussion in art class of all places. Out of all the dumb stuff he does, art class was the last place I expected it. Wrestling or football certainly lol

I think it would be more than that. A 38% drop over 12 years... And the "danger" would be if the kids aren't participating in FB, will they find something else and they never go back? Depending on how long before they participate, they may not get the skills needed to get to the highest level.

It was about 12-15 years ago when CTE really started getting a lot of attention at that level. so it fits.

Also the fact that school is more intense and a lot more work than when I was a kid prob plays a factor. Most adults I know didn't really spend much time out of school on homework until high school. Now thats starting in elementary school. And parents are pushing academics much harder than they used to, also at a much younger age, which doesn't leave as much time for athletics. And then there is the fact that sports are becoming so competitive at such a young age that it just isn't fun for the kids anymore.

I'm sure the CTE factored in to it, I just don't think it was the "main" reason... if there even is a main reason. I was more using it just to comment on the "trend" of FB participation.

I don't think it will end it, but I do think it will change the sport. Tho look how long it took players to start wearing a proper helmet, yet they were wearing a cup. Shows what men truly are concerned about lol
Immediacy. You get hit on your head (get your bell rung), you MIGHT have a headache, POSSIBLY some blurred vision that will clear up fairly quickly, etc. It's the long term affects you need to worry about. Get hit between the legs? Yea, you know right then and there. :rotfl2:
