This dining plan malarky??

Hello hello,

We are not staying onsite at Disney so obviously won't be on this Dining Plan that I have been hearing about on the boards - we did want to have dinner at some Disney resteraunts though. Was hoping to go our in DTD for a few , maybe eat at the Rainforest Cafe at AK, and somewhere (that hasn't been decided on) at MGM.

Can you make advanced reservations even if you are not on the dining plan and should I have done this already??

Yes - you can make ADRs (Advanced Dining Reservations) whether you are staying onsite or off, and whether you are on Disney dining plan or not.

There is a number to ring - someone will be along to reply to this shortly who has the number to hand, I'm sure.

I'm sure you'll be able to ring and make reservations now to get the restaurants you want, as long as you're not looking for Cinderella's Royal Table or very specific days and times for particular restaurants.

You may want to consider the Fantasmic Dinner Package if you are going to MGM and want to see Fantasmic.

as your stay falls in the free ddp timeframe you will find a lot of places booked up.But there are a lot of places that are not on ddp,rainforest one of them.If you haveing problems finding somewere to eat check out the non ddp places as these should be less bussy.I know there a lot of non planners out there but you should try and get some adrs even if its the day you get up.
Phone disney dinning and ask where there is available if you can do it the day before you can plan a little bit ahead you can phone disney diining now if you want as its not restricted to onsite guests phone number 00-1-407-939-3463.
We was on free ddp last year and everywhere seamed to be booked up we had adrs then which we booked in may(DW thought i was mad soon changed here tune).
This year 10 of us 7nights paid ddp and 5 nights free dddp and made all our adrs in may for august

Thankyou, will have to look into this Fantasmic Dinner Package - sounds like something we might want to do.

Best check out which places aren't on the plan as well... this is great, I now have more things to plan!

One more question - in your experience has it been easier to find somewhere to eat at DTD if you don't have reservations, or is DTD better than the parks / resorts?

We never use the Dining Plan and really never intend to. We like the freedom of going where and when we please, which that doesn't allow.

We have gone to DTD many times for dinner and never had to make any reservations. Good luck !

If you are flexible about the time you want to eat and where you want to eat you may be able to get a table without an ADR.

While you are at WDW you can go to any Guest Relations window and I think any of the podiums at the entrance to any WDW restaurant and see if any they have any tables available and make an ADR

You can make reservations 180 days out, so if you want a specific restaurant on a certain day and time I would ring ASAP

Would aggree that would be the case most of year, but during free ddp timeframe resturants on the ddp have full up boards outside.last year they was a lot of places were full they put on TS meals at the Value resorts so folks could eat it was that mad.
With all the rummered changes to the ddp next year,think there will be less take up(would do it only if it was free next year)so wont be as bad
