On Saturday this past weekend we broke the high temp record for that day. It was 89 degrees!!! Today we have sleet/snow/freezing rain, and a high temp of 34 that was reached just after midnight. It's about 26 degrees right now. BRRRRRR!!!!

I'm betting we have no school tomorrow. It's getting dangerous out there!

Anyone else enjoying their crazy weather????

I am here in Flower Mound. It is slightly sleeting. I hope there is no school tommorrow. I am tired and want to sleep in.

It really isn't too bad right now, dh is driving to Dallas right now. Main roads are OK so far.....

I left work (near DFW airport) at 11am. It wasn't too bad there, but the further north I went the worse (icier) it got. By the time I reached my part of far north Ft Worth, it was starting to accumulate on the roads, and all the bridges were icy.

Now, on the other hand, it does help with the ol' Christmas spirit!!! :teeth:

I heard our local weather person in Milwaukee say, our freezing cold temperatures are creeping down into Texas and they are expected to get freezing rain and drizzle. Don't even try to drive in it, no one has any traction in ice.

I'm in Flower Mound and I can hear the sleet hitting the windows AGAIN!! (it's 1:30pm)

Coming in this morning around 9:00 it started sleeting and freezing instantly on the windshield - I couldn't see, LOL!!!!

I only live 10 minutes from work but I'm about ready to head on home.

me at WDW 2 days ago --> :cool1:

me now --> :cold:

Why couldn't this have happened when were were out of town . I dread DH's commute home from Carrollton this evening :worried:.

I have to leave in about 5 mins to go get DD13 from school. DD10 gets out an hour later. I may just drive straight there and wait.

Texans do not know how to drive in ice!!!! :cold:

No they don't. My office got closed at 1. I wasn't to upset and am thinking it will be closed tomorrow as well. WHOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!

The thing is, many Texans don't know how to drive PERIOD. That makes driving in the ice suicidal!

DS goes to DISD so they didn't close early or anything! The little ones I nanny get out at 12:30 so they were able to complete their day as usual.

Not sure what will happen tomorrow! It takes a MAJOR event to shut down DISD. My boss said she has to go to Ft. Worth tomorrow, but it sounds like it may be worse over there than it is here. If the courts are delayed or closed she may not have to go. I think a snow day for all of us would be lovely. Maybe then I could manage to get my tree up!

The roads weren't too bad when i was out earlier, but it has been sleeting a lot since then.

Brrrrr! Winter has finally arrived in North Texas! Our oldest daughter's after-school activities were cancelled, but they have not done an early dismissal for the elementary yet. I ran by Walmart to pick up chili fixin's and it looked like everyone else had the same idea--the entire ground meat section was empty! I also grabbed some waterproof gloves because I know my kids will want to play in the snow-when it finally starts sticking. It snowed here for about five minutes earlier, but now it's just sleeting. I saw a terrible accident on the way home, so we are definitely staying in tonight. Now I am just waiting impatiently to hear from dh that he is on his way home from Dallas.

I just got home from work and I really didnt think it was bad at all. I had a Mom crossing the lake to pick up her daughter from my class.. she said the bridges and overpasses were bad but the normal roads were fine.

A snowday tomorrow would be nice, but I am not holding my breath unless it gets a lot worse. Seems to be pretty patchy.. at least around here.

I am in downtown Dallas now and am leaving at 5 to drive to Flower Mound. I am guessing a 2 hour trip is in my future.
Oh well, kids are at home in front of the fireplace w/ DH so all is well.
I am visiting the office library to pick up a good book-on-tape for the journey home.

Unfortunately, your winter weather is heading our way (Arkansas). We can't drive in the ice or snow around here either. I'm dreading going to the store now as I suspect everyone in my town will be there. If there is any mention of snow flakes, the people around here load up on groceries for fear they won't be able to get out for weeks. Geez!

I don't know about you guys but our low tomorrow night is supposed to be 13 degrees. Yikes! :cold:

It is supposed to be 17 degrees here tonight!!! Bleech.

DH is driving home from Dallas right now. I need to pick up dd from high school still. So one more trip and I am done.

Need to get that chicken in the oven....gotta go!

The roads around here are pretty bad. Everything will be a solid sheet of ice by tomorrow most likely.

My biggest problem now is that I have to COOK!!! We always meet the other members of our Sunday School class at McDonald's ($1.00 hamburger happy meals without the toy on Weds) before our Wedneday night classes at church. No church tonight. No McD's either!! All that equals ElizK must cook!!!! :crazy2:

I am in Highland Village and the roads are pretty bad. I live just north of 407 on 2499 and it took me 10 minutes to get to target. My DS informed me he had a "group" project due tomorrow and I had to take him to Highland Shores...it was pretty bad there. I just took it very slow. I am dreading picking him up. It is sleeting on the windows as I type this. I wish they would just cancel school already:)

Current temperature in Georgetown is 26 degrees. Light mist/sleet right now with bridges and overpasses icing up as we speak. DH is a firefighter. He's home right now but you never know...he might have to go out in it later.

Well I was right on the money. Almost 2 hours to the minute. Took me 30 mins to get to work this morning and 2 hours to get home. Yep, must be Texas! :rotfl2:
I did choose a particularly rivoting Iris Johessen (sp?) book ( eh, so-so). Kept me entertained. I will leave tomorrow at 5:30 and then I am sure to get to work on time. I absolutely hate being late.

DS called me from Denton this afternoon where it was 23 degrees with a wind chill temperature of 8! His college closed at noon and will be closed until at least noon tomorrow. He works in Lewisville and was supposed to go in tonight, but fortunately he didn't. Tomorrow he's supposed to give lessons at a public school up there, so I must admit that I hope they close that school so he doesn't have to drive. And I hear that the weather is on its way down here. Last report I saw was that it's 31 degrees in San Antonio. It's moving towards us!
