So we booked our stay, January 5-19. No problem. Then I was looking through my planner, and realized that exams start on the 22nd. We're still going, but we'll be making our stay at Disney shorter:(

My sister teaches at a middle school that's about a block away from my high school, and she's already agreed to get my work/exam schedule from a classmate and fax it to our hotel, so there's no way I'll fall behind. Even if I miss an in-class exam for my computers course, it won't kill my grade

The only thing I'm worried about: How do I break it to my teachers? Two of them told us at the start of the year not to take vacations. I'm only in grade 10, so it's not going on my transcript or anything, and I'm a really good student, so it's not like I'll be failing or anything.... How do you guys let your school know?

just tell them there not gona kill you or kick you out of school

lol, I guess you're right. Although the latter is possible... you should see my school. They're crazy-academic... I might not get kicked out of the school, but I might get kicked out of the leadership pathway...:P
Yeah... my apologies, I sorta freaked out over nothing for a moment... It should all work out in the end, it usually does :)

talk to each of them after class and tell them you will be leaving to go out of town on a family vacation and that you would like your assignments ahead of time...

and at my school I have to notify the office and my teachers a few days before i leave so they can get my assignments together

relax though..
you're going to DISNEY!

This might not be of much help, but I missed a week and a day of school, so 6 days of school, sick. I dont know if this helps, but nothing happened with me, but i didnt have exams or anything, though.(I am younger lol, so this is no help srry) I did have my assignments sent to me though, so I never fell behind. I also once missed a week of school for Disney, and I asked for my assignments ahead of time, and I did them on the airplane ride (for me 4hrs) there and back and late at nightime :teacher:

Hmmm.
The "family reunion" excuse worked for us three times. Once in May of 9th grade and twice in tenth-December and May. I am in 11th grade now. Our trips only had me missing four or five days of school, and they weren't during exams or anything. If you are very polite to the person you tell, it does make a difference.

you could fake like you're getting sick for the few days before and tell them that you're feeling sick, so you might need your assignments so you don't fall behind. ;)

my bro was sick and missed a week of school and were leaving for WDW on sep 30th and we'll miss a week of school then and we told our teachers and they were ok with it.

Well if it's your exams, sometimes teachers will let you take them during your free periods and sometimes they schedule exam make ups. Don't worry about it too much, just talk with your teachers and see what they tell you..
