This CANNOT be happening...positive thoughts please

Hope she gets better.

I always have a fear that my son will get sick when we are out of town and in March it happened. We were out of town on a shopping trip. He went down for his nap and woke up on fire. He had a fever of 105 and the urgent care clinic was closed. Had to give him cool baths, lots of tylenol/motirn, etc until we came home the next day.

Two days later he was admitted to the hospital for 8 days with pneumonia.

There is alot of stuff going around right now. I have a cold for almost 2 weeks.

Hope she gets better soon.

Good luck! I am terrified of the kids getting sick on this Disney Trip...last September, my two year old ended up in the hospital in Orlando with an acute asthma attack. I have forbidden any of my children from getting sick on vacation this year. Do you think people will think we're weird if we all where masks and gloves in the parks? ;)

Oh no! Hope she feels better soon!

We leave on Saturday and the four of us all have some sort of ailment. Ds14 may be home from school today as he is complaining of a sore throat - he was up all night blowing his nose so that didn't help. I am off to the store for meds this morning and will keep an eye on everyone. This is NOT my favorite time to go due to illness with the kids all back to school with the germs, but this is a birthday trip for ME so I've got to hope for the best....

I think I'm going to start loading DD up with the Zicam too. Didn't think of that. We still have a month til our trip but she is sick AGAIN. 2nd time in 3 weeks- last time she had double ear infections. Oh the joy of being in school and having all those germs floating around :headache:

Question on the Zicam...I've only used the nasal swabs. What is the pill version?

Zicam is a homeopathic medicine that is supposed to shorten the duration and lessen the symptoms of a cold.

There is a chewable Zicam, I have some but don't like the tinny taste. But, the nasal swabs, or any of the forms that go directly in the nose were recently found to have a risk of losing your sense of smell.

I think Zicam works, so I guess I will have to stick to the chewables, though I prefer the swabs.

there is no clinical evidence to suport that it works and it is NOT FDA regulated. Be careful. I would NOT be giving something like this to children.

Get yourself some Zipfizz...it works miracles. We get ours from Costco. Ask the pediatrician whether it's ok for a child. It's all vitamins. It would be good for mom and dad to help prevent you both from getting it...and help keep you healthy too.

I am sorry that is awful! I would take her to the dr and make sure it is not anything catchey...can you delay your trip for a few days? I know that it is not a good feeling to be sick and walking around wdw...also you have to think about spreading something to others on their trip that they have also saved for.I hope that it turns out fine and I am not trying to be mean about it but I just hate it when I read about how someone is sick or their child is sick and they are just going to go anyway and hope for the best.It is not good for anyone to do that when they should be resting.GOOD LUCK and I will cross my fingers for you that it is just nothing...

Thank you for saying this, I was biting my tongue. For the record, Airborne is exactly the same: no evidence it works, not FDA regulated, studies on it have found that it doesn't do a bit of good, and I wouldn't give it to a child. What works is time, rest, and fluids.

I hope you are all healthy by Wed. I have to put in, sorry to be negative, that if you are not all healthy, please don't travel by plane. Think of how you would all feel if your child recovered and were able to go and you were seated next to someone who has a fever and is coughing all over you.

Oh no, wellness vibes your way.

I have the same dreaded feeling. We leave in 6 days. Friday we were at a church for a class and I let the two younger ones play in the nursery area. Then I noticed it didn't look like it had been "cleaned". I FREAKED. Put hand sanitizer on them and got out of there. We went and washed our hands.

My friend thought I was being crazy, but I don't know that church and didn't want to risk them getting sick with only a week to go.

I totally did myself in yesterday posting this. Kayla and Joseph had a sleepover last night at the Great Wolf Lodge with friends of ours. We get a call at 2am that Kayla is throwing up. I pick her up and the throwing up continues til 4am. No fever or anything and it's over. But still.....

I hope your lil one is better.

I always try to keep everyone well before we go away but sometimes people get sick. We were away 8/24 - 9/2 We went to Disney's Vero Beach 8/24 - 8/27 and then went to Villas at Wilderness Lodge until 9/2.

My husband said the week before that our DD12 seemed tired and I said " I think she is tired she spent a week at Sixers Dance camp her first sleepaway" on the flight down she slept on me. She ran fevers for the next few days on 8/27 I took her to Urgent care and they said she had Pharyngitus (sp) and gave her an antibiotic. She didn't feel so good still the next day and back at Urgent Care 8/29 she had a fever of 104.8 and an ear infection and Pnemonia in her right lower lung. A shot and lots of antibiotics she started to feel better. We spent lots of time in our room but the staff at Roaring Forks and Housekeeping were wonderful. They sent a stuffed animal, food, pins and left lots of nice notes. They changes our sheets a few times even though we were at our DVC and only had a trash and towel one day.

We are going in October so at least we'll get to enjoy ourselves. I do feel bad when people only go 1x or have never been there and get sick.

She is having a recheck xray the first week in October and hopefully all is well. I keep wiping all the door knobs down and cleaning the house, packing hand wipes for lunch. I think I'll turn off the air knob on the plane and just keep a blanket over my face to keep the germs away. Ha Ha

But with the H1N1 and everything else it can make you paranoid.:confused3

So how is your daughter feeling? I hope she is doing better and that no one else in your family has gotten sick.

She is doing well now. :cloud9: She was still tired and not herself for about two weeks. Now she is settled in school and activities and seems back to herself. It was just the two of us on a mother daughter trip and I never got sick....until this weekend. :confused3

Now I have bronchitus but am positive we'll all be well for the October trip. Only other bad luck was my hubby had a car accident when we were away and his car was very damaged and he is still in a rental for another few weeks.
