Thirty One vs. Initials Inc?

Repeat business is possible - with new products/patterns some people will want to buy new items each season. I had one person host in June (S/S Catalog), and then again in September (F/W Catalog) as soon as she saw the new items.

As for hostesses you really do have to coach them and help them along the way. I have hostess packages made in advance so I can give them a few catalogs, order forms, and business cards. They can hand them around to those that won't be at their party and give the people my card in case they have any specific questions. Try to get them the catalogs/forms a couple weeks in advance so they can share them with people. Sometimes a quick glance at the catalog is enough to get a "maybe" to become a "yes" and show up at the party to see items in person. Offer to do what you can to help the hostess get things straight for her party. Some people like to do things up big, and some like to do things on a smaller scale, just try to feel out your hostess and see what you can do to help make the party a success.

I am an Independent Creative Partner with Initials, Inc. if anyone has questions! :goodvibes

Do you have a web site for Initials? I would love to check it out. I am an at home junkie. I started selling thirty-one last year, and I love it. I have been in Direct Sales for around 10 yrs now, (I sell 31, Scentsy, Pampered Chef, and Silpada) the company I have had the most success with so far has been Scentsy and while looking for bags that were durable enough to handle hauling around all of my warmers and bars I found thirty-one. I am in love with the utility totes! I average about 12 vendor shows a year and they really make my life easier, they really can handle just about anything and are very easy to clean. I have yet to have a serious quality issue with them, however due to the unexpected growth spurt the company has had a few issues with "back ordered" products. And a recent party order was missing a bag, hoever they fixed that immediately.
I honestly do not think they were ready to become so popular so fast. They just launched a special BOGO sale (Buy one and they give one to a child in need) and they where using the same Web service as Disney & Oprah- so many people flooded the site it crashed!!! We are currently moving from WI to TX so I know my days with Scentsy are numbered :( it is just to darn hot down there to haul wax around lol I am hopeing that San Antonio is not all ready crawling with reps for my other companies or I will belooking for a new job! ;)

Hello! I am sending you a pm with my webpage. Per P&P though, you would not be able to sell Thirty-One and Initials, Inc. But we have the same oversaturated market of Thirty-One in my area with unhappy customers due to backorders and quality!
Well, check my info out and contact me with questions!
Good Luck with the move. :goodvibes

Thirty-One has a waitlist for new consultants while they complete their company expansion. i actually got in on the first wave and will be eligible to enroll on wednesday, but i'm not sure i will. i had two home parties and two catalog parties booked, but the home party "friends" seem to have disappeared. best laid plans, i suppose. back to square one.

would still prefer to have a "regular" job, but things aren't going so well there either. interviewed for a legal assistant job at a staffing agency last wednesday, and scored 90% or better on their testing, but haven't heard a word.

Good Luck with finding something you like. Keep Initials, Inc. in mind and feel free to pass along to anyone interested.
The job market is tough right now, don't give up and wishing you luck! :thumbsup2:wizard:

I am in the Dallas area and not SA but I have never heard of either of these products. I am in a upper middle class suburb and it seems like EVERYONE sells something in a party atmosphere and of all the hundreds (OK, slight exaggeration) of parties I get invited to, I would think if any of the 2 products listed were big here- I would have heard about it.

thank you  i need all the luck and pixie dust i can get right now. just had to buy a new (to me) car and DH is wearing himself out working 72-84 hours per week to afford the payment. makes me feel like a total loser :sad1: no one wants to hire a 40yo, SAHM, even with a college degree.

I am not sure on the numbers for Thirty-One, but for Initials, Inc. we have only 1100 Independent Creative Partners in all 50 states! There is a lot of untouched area (including mine:cool1:). It is great to sell a product other than jewelry, candles, cooking stuff...etc. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy those parties too but feel Initials, Inc. is my niche!

Not many are hiring 20-somethings with college degrees either. BTW: I am not 20-something :lmao: But who says you need to work out of your home? I do 1 party a weekend and have been very pleased with my commission.
Either way...have some pixie dust!:wizard:...just keep swimming!

i am in the process of trying to decide whether or not to join thirty-one. there is a recruiting freeze right now, but i've already read the materials and have a sponsor, so if i want to join, all i need to do is fill out the paperwork and buy my kit.

do any of you who work for thirty-one and companies like it find that you have trouble booking parties? do you worry about meeting your sales goals? are friends starting to avoid you for fear of getting a sales pitch?

I do scentsy and love the company. I find that the stuff sells itself. The sales goals are very easy to meet. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions. I think one of the great things about any direct sales company is that you really can work your schedule around your life!

Thank you! I will go check it out, not looking to sell both- kinda looking for new things to buy :rotfl: ~ excited to see differant fabrics/patterns. My husband says that I only go to work at vendor events to shop and I guess he is right. If they ever come out with a Disney related Direct Sales company I will be in heaven!

Moveing sucks, but I am consoleing myself with the knowledge that San Antonio TX is closer to WDW AND DL than WI  and hey, you don't have to shovel heat!

Thank you m&m's mom! That makes me feel a little better- it is scary and exciteing moving to a new state. The town I am moving away from is a former GM town, and when the plant shut down allot of people started doing DS to make ends meet. You can't throw a rock and not hit a Mary Kay, Tupperware, Avon, Pampered Chef, Scentsy lady. This is why I rep for multiple companies- so that I can always get into events with one company or another.

Hang in there Momof1princess! :goodvibes you will find the right fit for you- wehter it is 9-5 or a home party plan company. We are kind of in the same boat I have not had a "real" job since 2007, my husband had to take a job in TX because there is nothing here for him. Direct sales for me, was supposed to be a part time thing. Over the years I have been a rep for 11 differant companies (Yikes! lol) some of them I have been fortunate enough to experience amazing success with, others not so much. When I am booking shows and makeing money I love my job and the controll I have over my schedule I love the women I meet and am inspired by and I would not trade it for the world. However, when I am spending money on events that don't pan out, dealing with a shortage of hostesses and spinning my wheels in oversaturated areas... not so much. :rotfl2:
Direct sales is not allways roses, and it does not work for everyone.
A good product will sell itself~ but you have to work your business. I keep trying, because it is something I love.
When you can find that one thing that you are passionate about, that truly inspires you, and motivates you to inspire others it can be Magic! I hope you find yours soon!

I do scentsy and love the company

Hi! Are you going to Stampede? I was notplanning on going, but now that we are going to be living in TX and I can drive there... I am thinking about it. If its not sold out! I am going to conferance for Pampered Chef, and Thirty one this year for the first time  So if I book Stampede- I will be bursting at the seams with knowledge and inspiration by the end of this summer. :woohoo:

One reason I didn't do 31-made in China, and Vera bags were way better patterns/quality. Ok, two reasons.:)
To each his own, and good luck to you.

well, my Thirty-One train has derailed. all of my home party hostesses seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. everyone was all excited about doing a party, and i've kept everyone updated on when i thought i'd be able to sign up and how the recruiting freeze was going, but now no one will even e-mail me back and say "no thanks". tomorrow is my day to enroll, but it looks like i won't be signing up after all.

ETA: vera bradley bags are also made in china, and their quality is quite poor-last VB bag i bought, a magnetic snap fell off in less than two weeks, and VB REFUSED to do anything about it. on top of the outrageous price i paid, i had to pay an extra $12 to a local shoe shop to put the snap back on. i'll never buy another VB bag. JMHO

i would like to hear more info about initials inc but am new to the sight and cannoy PM anyone....:confused3
