Thinking of wearing flip flops....

Personally, I would live in my flip-flops. I have both the Crocs (Athens) style flip flops as well as Reefs. Both are very comfortable for a day of walking and I wore the crocs almost constantly on our last DCL Cruise. I would be worried about wearing flip-flops for a day at DL as my youngest is constantly stepping on my toes while we stand in line. :scared: Yes... it makes me a bit nutty :rolleyes1 but he's a sweet kid, so I'll keep him. So... flattened toes would be my only concern.

I am a sandal/flip flop kind of girl, too -- but I posted about this on another thread -- the day I wore flip flops to DL I got my toe stepped on so many times (the same toe!) that half of my toenail cracked and came off. I looked down and it was bleeding and gross -- and ouch!! Just a thought . . . that probably hasn't happened to most people (just my luck LOL)

Do you think you will have enough time to properly break them in? That was my only shoe mistake (actually--it was a pair of Naot sandals--not shoes!) that I made at Disneyland. The sandals were "comfort shoes", but because I didn't break them in long enough---I got blisters like you would not believe! I never get blisters, but I guess all of the walking was enough to do it.

I love Zappos, don't you? You get things so quickly--it is like instant gratification online shopping:thumbsup2 I buy so much from them, but often end up returning them (love the free returns). I always worry that they are going to put me on some "black list" and not let me order anymore shoes!

I wear flip flops. I never have a problem. i don't bother breaking flip flops in.

I have a couple of pairs of flip flops from Lands End. I think they call them "Sports Sandles" or something like that. Anyway, I wear them constantly, including WDW for 8 days last year with no problem. I will be wearing them in DL next week, unless it suddenly gets very cold.

I live in flip flops. . .I have spent more than 3 days at DLR in flip flops without any foot issues. Just be careful when the ground is wet. . .the Crocs Athens seem to combat this problem very well. Some of the painted walkways can get slick when wet. I wore 3 different pairs of Athens at WDW during our 8 day stay this past August and never regretted it for a minute. Enjoy your flips. . .lol.

only because kids [and adults] run around like freaking idiots at Disney. I've had my feet stepped on more times than I can count in those crazy crowds.

I would agree with that--but these are "Chacos" flip flops she is thinking of buying. They do require break in, and are a much different fit than ordinary flip flops (they have a negative heel--sort of like Earth shoes). Some people love them and others find the footbed really uncomfortable. The footbed is highly texturized, and can hurt after a few hours of wear if you are not use to wearing them. Also, having that much arch support with a lower heel can take a while to get use to.

Oh boy are you right! I spent over $100.00 on a pair of Chacos sandals and thought they would be the perfect Disneyland shoe! The first day I wore them, I got the worst blisters from them! Luckily I had brought a backup pair of sandals to wear! Always take more than one pair of shoes if you're going to be there more than one day! That's my advise for the day!

When I started reading your post my first thought was "not unless the flip-flops are the same ones as my Chacos"...good news, they are the exact same ones! I LOVE them, they are really comfortable and have great arch support since the footbed is molded.

Chaco also makes a flip-flop with nubuck leather straps and nubuck on the entire footbed. I would stay away from that style...very uncomfortable as the nubuck suede under your foot quickly becomes super slippery and shiny.

Thanks to a WDW thread around here I was lead to these

I love them!!!!!!!!! I have very high arches and they are fantastic. I actually wore mine to DL about two days after I got them (and had heated them) and found them very, very comfortable. I have since worn them many times to DL and now to WDW and they were perfect. In fact I plan on getting a second pair soon.

I also wanted to say in all the years I have been going to DL and most of them in Flip Flops I really can't say I have had a huge issue with getting stepped on. I find them practical and fun especially after a water ride.
