Thankfully their classes aren't like that...but assigned seating, really?? That's crazy!

Not uncommon if it's a huge course in a huge lecture hall. Makes it easier to take attendance if everyone has an assigned seat - a quick scan will easily show who isn't there.

I can see the point, just didn't know any actually did it...neither of my kids, (or myself since I went back last semester), have ever had assigned seats in a class. And my son goes to one of the largest University's in the nation!
