So with so much closing at HS I am thinking of skipping this park completely or just going much laterin the day and staying for fantasmic. We only do 3 rides there and not sure ifits worth the trek or just take on "off" day

We spent around 4 days in DHS last week to say goodbye to the park as it is. Saw Indy, rode TSMM, saw Fantasmic, saw the holiday comedy players, rode Star Tours, saw the Star Wars stuff including fireworks, had one last drink at the Studio Catering Co bar, said very long emotional goodbyes to Osborne Lights. It has been our tradition (for the last decade) to spend NYE in this park. Now we will stay home instead.

DHS just isn't going to be fun for the next couple years. We're due to return to Florida in Sep/Oct. We'll even stay at the Boardwalk for a weekend, but I think we will stick to mainly EPCOT. I might return to DHS for a character greet with Vader if he's still around but setting foot in that park will probably be like visiting a tomb for me. As soon as they put up the construction walls at Animal Kingdom I stopped going there.

I guess if you're a ToT or RnR fan, the park still holds interest. I can't see it being more than a 4-5 hour park though. And New Year's will be beyond sad. (Just not having Mulch, Sweat & Shears or any live band for the NYE party took much away from the night.)

If you're visiting over the next couple days, by all means go see all the chopping block attractions while you can. But after the next couple weeks, I'd avoid the park.

Is the 3 rides any different than what you did in the past while there?

Yes there's things closed and more closing but theres not that much missing yet. It really depends on what you like and want to do. Last trip I went in to catch some things we haven't done in awhile. We did our normal rides but we caught a couple of the show attractions, skip some things we normally do. we also took the time to explore some shops, especially around the area we felt might be where construction will start. We easily filled the day with a very nice, smell the roses/take it all in comfortable pace day. Might be one of the better days we had there.

For me it's ALWAYS been at most a half-day park if In even bother going over there. I'd say about 99% of the time I'm solo, it doesn't even cross my mind to waste the time getting there and then somewhere else if I'm solo - and if I'm with someone who wants to go there, I tolerate it. Give me extra DAK time any day!!

So far only backlot tour has closed. But if you've been before i guess you don't want to see Beaty and the Beast for the 10th time or sit through Ariel's whining. So skip the park if none of the shows are of interest. Personally I mainly go for Tower of Terror, but if they chose to swap out Beaty and the Beast it would be a bit more worthwhile, add another new show and its even more worth going to DHS.

While I don't see it as a half day park, they are all optional. We do plenty of short trips that don't include all four parks. Do what you will enjoy!

thanks for the responses. the rides we did were tsmm, rnrc and great movie ride......we are not going until April of this year.

Stuff that has closed in recent times:
Backlot tour (no replacement)
Captain Jack Sparrow (no replacement)
Animation building (but now replaced by Star Wars Launch Bay)
Sounds Dangerous (but now replaced by Star Wars Path of the Jedi)
American Idol (but replaced by Frozen)
(and of course Osborne Lights will be gone after tomorrow but that was a seasonal attraction)

For now it's worth going to but it won't be soon when they start closing more stuff in my opinion

well it depends, do you have a ticket day to 'burn'? if so, you could always make some fp+ for later in the day for your rides you want to do,then see the night show..... or not if it doesn;t seem worth the effort to you....

as long as Tower of Terror, Rockin Rollercoaster, and Toy Story Mania are still open, it will always warrant at least an afternoon.
